Really getting upset.

I took an oath to protect against all enemies foreign and domestic. What if the President has become a domestic enemy? I really want to fulfill my oath and be a good Sailor, but I'm thinking I may need to drop to the IRR so that I am not put in the position of disobeying an order. Not saying that I would, but I can't imagine that someone as conflicted as I would be a good cog in the wheel. I'm too darned questioning and idealistic. I believe in our CONSTITUTION, but I do not believe in our current government.

I'm really hoping this is a work of fiction: atlanta.creativeloafing.com/gyro...ntent

And yet, I fear it is not: home.cc.umanitoba.ca/~altemey

I am a card carrying member of the ACLU because I believe so strongly in civil liberties. I'm wondering how we all got so complacent that we don't seem to care about the basis for our country anymore. This shit is getting too serious. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_they_came...

Any advice on how to reconcile the conflict? My current plan is to get dual citizenship with England and go live somewhere in the EU, probably dropping to the IRR for the rest of my reserve contract. I'll advocate for civil liberties from afar. I suppose this could label me ripe for corruption by a foreign government, but I'm not picking another system over ours. I just want ours to work again. The principles of the Constitution are wonderful. I never expected to see them so undermined and twisted.

It's things like this that make me want Burning Man to run 24/7 in BRC. I'd join the Burning Man militia...

...of course, it'd probably end like the Branch Dividian compound incident in Waco, Texas...

    ...minus the large gun collection...

    ...and the religion part...

    ...and the child molestation...

...come to think of it, it'd probably be nothing like the Waco raid.

In my opinion, the only way to change a system is from within. The scenario in the first article is not a new one. After 9/11, I was questioned by the FBI several times because it was reported to them that I had several Middle Eastern guests at my home. By the third time, we were all on a 1st name basis. Those agents knew I wasn't a threat, but it was their job to check out any possibility. You need to do what you feel is right. I served in our military and then worked for the State Dept for a while. I'm not concerned by that article. I am concerned about our current administration. I will continue to watch it with an eye towards what they should and shouldn't be doing.

    I'm just sayin'
