Location Location Location

We've got two sites we can think of to contact that might be interested in hosting a gathering of 1000+ crazed folk for the weekend. If it seems interest in this is developing, I'll contact them.

Does anyone else know of any sites in the Southeast regional area that might be approachable with a proposition like that? It's probably best to only approach sites that are (a) already used for parties of this flavor, or (b) are owned by folks that are part of this scene.

'Cause we wouldn't want to scare anyone to death...

The Eco project was a large camping music fest south of Atlanta
The property is called of Bouckaert Farm

    media.www.cw.ua.edu/media/st...715.shtml

Bands from genres as varied as eccentric rock, crunk trip-hop and symphonic pop played on four stages during the weekend to a crowd of around 10,000 fans from around the country.

October 12 – 14, 2007. The three-day, multi-stage camping festival will be held on 350-acres of scenic Chattahoochee river front property on a privately owned 1250-acre farm just south of metropolitan Atlanta. With a green focus and philosophy, The Echo Project is set to revolutionize how music and arts events affect our environment through eco-friendly event production by ways of carbon emissions, power consumption and creation, alternative energy sources, and waste management and recycling initiatives. For its inaugural event, The Echo Festival along with Sustainable Waves and Rivers Alive is also launching a major Chattahoochee river clean up prior to the festival.

Wow! That seems like a great lead! Thanks Unga Bunga!! I'll see what I can find out about getting in touch with them!

I also recalled another site here in SC that would be plenty big, I've got folks-talking-to-folks to get me in touch with them. They used to have some rocked out parties and have tons of space (it's a big hayfarm with hundreds of acres and the whole area is owned by this one family)...heard that they were wanting to do something there but didn't have the organizers to deal with it, that might be a good fit!

This is like an Easter Egg hunt for something REAL!

Jambase is also a good starting point to find venues:

Cool as hell, I sent them an email since I can't find contact information for their venue anywhere online. Echo Project has a MySpace that I pestered them through.

I dig the hell out of Jambase, I've used it before to find music shows, I didn't realize they had venue info! I'll get on that!

Wow, Jambase had LOTS of cool venue info!! I sent out emails on a fishing expedition to about five different places in the Southeast region.

Pity we're not looking in Florida, they seem to have a gracious plenty! Thanks again UngaBunga, great thinking!

We at TOUCH Samadhi will definitely be Partying our fuging arses off somewhere , because we do ever weekend anyway.......
No location in mind at this time but we will look into a few options.... If there is another party being organized we might be into just being a part of that if we are invited to bring out a sound system and some weird alien music being played by southeast's freakiest frequency shifters......
Holla and let me know what's going on ,,,and I will do the same if we get something going.....

Wow, I've been dancing around the house for the last hour to your sweet mix that I checked out through your profile, Medisin. NICE.

I am about dancing the MOST.

Let us know if y'all come up with any options, at this point it's probably a stampede in the first good direction anyone gives us...:)

Aaaand still waiting to hear back. Dang I hate this part, it's like trying to get a date with some uptight debutante every time you try to find sites!!

(I guess it IS kind of like that...not hey babe can I fuck you, but hey babe can we fuck with your world LOL...eewww I don't know, your festival might be TOO BIG or maybe I can't HANDLE IT, TOO WILD...ROTFL...)

              yep that is funny...

and how is the naming going, i was thinking that we may want to hold off on picking a name until we have a site, because the site might name the event for us, just a thought...

Just throwing in that, if it's in SC or anywhere that nicely close to my usual location, I'M TOTALLY THERE. I can scare up a few musicians of various types as well, and performance artists.

Soo..one of the great reason to have it in the mountains is the sound factor....the mountains keep in the sound so we can be loud :)

I've been wondering of perhaps the Cherokee would be interested in letting us do something on the Cherokee "Reservation" (I put res in quotes cause it's not really a res -they bought the land and own it privately)...

I've also been wondering about Renaissance Festival grounds...they are private property and set up for 1000's of people....and those rennies like to get pretty crazy...

I also know a place in southern IL...several hunderd acres of private property in the forest that has hosted festivals...I'm friends with the neighbors who are friends with the owner....but it's kinda far from here..... but it's an option...

Did anyone go to Intersteller Dreamfest about, eh, 8 years ago? That site was pretty awesome...where was that?

The Alleghenies are good; I have some possible resources to check for Highlands NC; in GA (where I am) there is a certain Boogie related archon I could consult for aid.

Illinois is where I was born and all of both of my families live there in one or other place. I'm not saying "Nooooo IL" ......but I'm telepathically whimpering ......

There is a camping music fest on a big piece of land in Alabama.

BamaJam Music & Arts Festival will be located on the corner of Hwy 167 and County Road 156 on 450 acres of land just north of Enterprise, AL.

Cool y'all for all the efforts! I'll see what I can find out about that 'Bama site and also about the Native land.

I've been asked to submit a proposal to one site by tomorrow (eep!) so I'll post what I'm proposing to propose to them later tonight in a new thread, and anyone who is paying attention PLEASE make any suggestions or comments about it so we can make any changes before I send it to the landowners.

I've been doing insurance homework and such so I think I can get a pretty good plan together by tonight, it's just whether y'all and/or they like it!

I'll be sure to include ALL information as to how I'm prioritizing and calculating and whatall. All of this should be easy to do in a climate of open communication and participation.
