Pay the rent. Buy on credit. Watch TV...
Grab a latté. Catch a flick. Get a CD. Distract yourself from the problems of the world and from your own fundamental inner misery and discontent with 'entertainment' in the flavor of your choosing...
Don't like the way the government is running things but don't want to make any great personal sacrifice or risk your comfort and 'security' to effect a change? Relax. Just put your name on one of those online petition thingies (tell yourself it will outweigh the influence the corporate lobbies have on your legislators). Go to the next anti-war rally in the park (bring a picnic lunch, and your cell phone / camera / iPod / personal electronic device... you might even see your face on the 'news'). Pressure the Democrats to do something (one can always 'hope'). Recycle (it'll make you feel better).
Global warming? Biospheric meltdown? Economic collapse? Hey, those are all things that 'might happen' years from now. May as well enjoy the blessings of frivolity that our democratic liberties and economic privilege have granted us, while we still are able...
It'll all be over soon enough.
