I am open to new programs and discussions....

Before you say you cannot make a full time living working online from home, hear my story.

After my business partner died unexpectedly about 6 years ago I finally decided to try and make a living working from home online.

This was after battling to keep my business going for a few years and being unsuccessful in finding a new partner.

Now after a lot of research some losses also I now do make my full time living working online part time from home.

Here are 5 programs you can make money from if you are prepare to promote your affiliate site every day. Read my other posts to find how to do this. If you can write, this is a bonus.

Good morning Tribe members!!

I don't know why I didn't post this sooner instead of scouring the web on my own. Sometimes I forget about my online friends so I do apologize for that. :)

Has anyone used recording services for their business? I've been looking for a good way to record training for my team, new product announcements for my customers, advertisements, etc.

I've looked into conference calls, 800#s with recorded message playback, and web casting. I am a member of the Direct Selling Women's Alliance and found a service through them that I signed up for. I have a 30-day free trial and will be attending a training call in a few minutes for it. It allows me to record conference calls, training, customer testimonials and more for about $20/month. They provide flash player interfaces and HTML code for any and all calls that I can use to add the recorded messages to my web site.

I also found another service through the DSWA that is $35/month and comes with an 800#, voicemail, recorded message playback, fax service, unlimited incoming minutes, ad tracker and more. That sounds like a super deal as well. I love the flat-rate and unlimited incoming calls. There are extra fees for outgoing, like if I use the follow-me feature and have the calls into the 800# forwarded to my home office phone, but it's a reasonable rate of 6.9 cents/a minute (pretty standard 800# rate from what I've seen).

Now with the first service I found I could refer 3 active members and receive my service free. On the second service if I refer 5 active users I would receive my service free. Now they are both pretty sweet deals that anyone can take advantage of, not just members of the DSWA. So I was pretty happy to find them. I signed up for the first one last night. I'm still contemplating the second. The services are different and both can be very useful. Both offer me a 30-day free trial so I suppose I could sign up for both and see which I like best. Both can very much help my business in more ways than one.

Okay, so that I don't make this the longest post ever...

Have you or do you use any similar services? How do you like it? Personally I think these type of services can greatly enhance my business, but would like to hear from others who might actually be doing this already.

Does anyone do web casting or conference calls? Who do you use and what kind of rates are you getting? I found many services online that do one or the other for free or nominal fees. I would like to find webcasting with VoIP capability.

Well I know that's a LOT of questions to ask in one post, but if you can provide feedback on any part I'd appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!!

I spent some time researching different conference call providers online and thought I'd share what I found. Perhaps you'll find something that will work for you and your business.

FREE CONFERENCE CALL PROVIDERS

www.FreeConferenceCall.com - You can even record your free conference calls
http://www.goconference.com/freecalling/ - Free voice or web conferencing
http://www.presenternet.com/ - Free conference calls and also a free trial on web conferencing
www.TalkShoe.com - Free "talkcasts" as they call them - Interesing potential here
http://www.highspeedconferencing.com - Free calls that are endorsed by Skype

FREE VOICEMAIL PROVIDERS

www.SimpleVoiceBox.com - Your greeting to your callers can be LONG! That is great for new product announcements, "sizzle calls" where you give your callers some piece of irresistable news or information (great for business opportunity), training, etc. LOTS of uses this. You can even choose whether or not your callers can leave a message for you at the end. How cool is that?! (Obviously I liked this service. ) - I signed up for this because the unlimited message length was exactly what I was looking for.

There is another service called Simple Voice Center, but it didn't work when I tried it. I tried calling the number that was assigned to me a couple of times and it didn't work. I figure that I don't want to rely on that kind of service. Hopefully it was a glitch. Although, who can complain when it's free?

FREE WEB CONFERENCING

http://www.vyew.com/content/
http://www.docolive.com - This only works with Internet Explorer (What a pity.)

OTHER

Another service I found and signed up with is Audio Acrobat. It also comes with a free trial period (30 days) and allows you to record messages, customer/client testimonials (they call a # and leave their testimonial on a recorder-voicemail), conferences and more. In fact, you can create playlists and broadcast your own online radio show. You can create videocasts and podcasts. LOTS of features with this provider. I was very impressed. http://designsdivision.audioacrobat.com <-- It even comes with a free affiliate program. In fact, some of their players are already embedded with your affiliate link. Refer just a few paying customers and you can obtain your basic service for free!

That reminds me, they even provide you the HTML code to add any of your recordings to your site. You can then view how many times it has been played, the percentage of plays that were played through completion and more. Very cool.

One last service I found, but did not try out, is COA Telecenter. It comes with a TON of features like unlimited incoming 800#, virtual fax service, voicemail, call forwarding, ad tracker, email/text/SMS notifications, phone to web audio and more. Their service starts at $34.95/month. Not bad for all that you get... if you put it to good use. They also have a pretty cool referral program. If you refer 5 customers, you can get your basic service for free... for as long as you have 5 active customers that you referred. http://www.gettelecenter.com/includedfeatures.aspx But hey, if there are 10 or so members who want to give this a try let me know. I'll sign up and then refer you so I can get the cool free service. :)

Simple Voice Box and Audio Acrobat are going to work very well for me right now. I'm already using Audio Acrobat and am quite impressed with their service and training. In fact just a few minutes ago their trainer called me because I had submitted a support ticket that I couldn't get something to work. Of course as he walked me through it on the phone it worked just fine! Gotta love technology!!

If you want to see one sample of how I've used Audio Acrobat, go to www.Jerky4College.com/enroll.html and click on the button to hear the message from Christina (that's me).

There are lots of service providers on the World Wide Web. Just keep in mind the features you are looking for and how you want to use the service. Hopefully you'll find the perfect fit for you.

I am personable but also tend to be honest. My business is translation and ESL teaching (Teaching English as a Second Language) in an area where my services are sorely needed.
When I am asked how long it will take to learn a second language in this all French area, I tend to say the truth in a diplomatic way but I am not happy the way I come sounding. I also do not want to lie but the expectations are unrealistic.
Can one blend salesmanship and integrity?
Shouldn't companies strive for this?
But if I discourage people I am working against my purposes but also theirs.

I hope that you are having a good day. My name is Philip Foster and I am the new moderator for this group. Many of you have already e-mailed me off line expressing your welcome and concern about the status of the group and the lack of conversations, etc that take place here.

First I wanted to let you know that I plan to be an active moderator here in the group. I hope to engage many of you in discussions and invigorate the group with ideas and activity. I welcome you all to participate in the threads as much as possible. There are no dumb questions here… we are all at different stages in the business cycle and we need to respect that in each other. We want everyone to feel comfortable entering and participating (as long as they are not here to SPAM or recruit us for some MLM or get-rich-scheme). If you feel someone is violating this rule, please feel free to contact me privately and I will investigate and take appropriate action as needed.

As a reminder, this is a tribe for anyone who is interested in serious discussions concerning all aspects of business development. Great conversation is always welcome; get rich scams, MLMs, and spam is not. Please keep on topic with the title of this tribe – BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT.
DISCUSSION TOPICS (Threads):
Threads should only be used for discussion – no job listings, items or services for sale, or off the topic of this tribe. Absolutely NO SPAM, MLM, Get-Rich-Quick, etc will be allowed in threads. Such messages will be deleted and you will be booted from the group.

LISTINGS:
Post all the job listings (or whatever) that you want, but please, no duplicates within 30 days and no MLMs, get-rich-quick or SPAM. If your listing title is in all caps and the only way a person can learn more is to send you a private message – you’re spamming.

EVENTS:
Announce your grand opening, open house, car wash, garage sale, seminar, book signing, or fund raiser! No duplicates within 30 days and no MLMs, get-rich-quick or spam, please.

RECOMMENDED:
Recommendations are great for sharing information on local favorites, service vendors, or whatever… Just finished a good book or know of a great bookstore? Saw a good TV show, movie, band, or play? Just found out about a great website, dentist, computer-repair guy, or restaurant? Create a ‘recommended’ listing and share it with us here! Please, no duplicates within 30 days and no get-rich-quick or spam.

*********************************************************
If you haven’t figured it out by now - this is NOT a get-rich-quick discussion group and we DO NOT allow spam.

Please do not start job-listing threads unless there are specific facets of the job or its description that you’d like to *discuss*. Use the ‘Listings’ feature for job postings.

If you start a thread that uses vague language, the title is in all CAPS, a person can only learn more by contacting you in a private message, or if it just seems like spam – it will be deleted and you will be sent a private message by the moderator explaining that it ain’t cool. I have *NO* problem reporting you to Tribe.net’s T.O.U. even after *one* violation.

That requires either moving up to Yahoo Merchant Solutions for essentially $40 per month, or moving to another Web service provider.

Is it possible to set up a store myself with OsCommerce or Zen Cart, load that storefront to my existing Yahoo Web site, and make use of their existing MySQL databases? Do I have to set up an Apache server and MySQL DB on my own computer?

What does it mean when someone reply’s to a message to you or said to you in person, “I don’t have the time right now….”? How about when someone does not return their call or reply to an email asking them a questions? What are they really saying?
They may not really mean it, but they are telling you that you are not worthy.
It is a growing problem. And too many business people today are just taking it as the way business is done now days.
NO! It is not. Or at least it should not be the way business is done. And if you feel it is, then you are probably not returning your calls and answering your emails because you are going out of business.
It can be done and I am a prime example. I make it my mission to answer every call or voice mail message from every person I know who calls me and a few that don’t know who have convinced me they are not telemarketing. I answer every one of the hundreds of emails I get (and the number is growing everyday) before I go to sleep each evening (which is about 9PM since my day starts at 5:30AM).
Some are saying I am a freak. And say ‘There is no way I could do this with what I have to do each day’. And my rebuttal is, Yes You Can!
I am not the only one who thinks enough of people to treat them with respect and more importantly treat their time with respect. There a number of people I have business and personal relationships with that manage their business and personal time much better than I do.
I have a close friend and business associate who is an executive of the PGA who demonstrates through his actions with everyone everyday his respect for other people’s time as well as his own. The PGA should be, and probably are, proud of the example that his setting to the thousands of members of that professional association. And he is the best example since he does it so well. When he replies to a message it makes you feel good that he missed your call or did not get back to you immediately to your email. He has true concern in his voice as well as his actions. That is why I cherish is friendship and wisdom of business.
Friends’, knowing what he has to deal with everyday, in his professional life and his personal and family life, my message to you is, that if he can do it, there is absolutely no excuse why you can’t do it.
He gets more message and calls than anyone I know and I come from an environment where the calls are measured in ‘units’ representing thousands of calls per second. Now I know he does not get a ‘unit’ worth of calls, but none the less, he gets enough that would be above the average that you get. And some of which I would deem from some very important people. And he makes contact, either by phone or by email, to each of them letting you know he values your friendship and I will get back with you at …(the specific date and time). I know because I have opened up my emails many times at 5:30AM and see his reply to me at 1AM. Here is a person that knows the absolute value of a solid business or personal relationship.
Like my friend, I think enough of the time anyone and everyone takes to contact me for a business issue or personal visit to let them know straight up I have the time for them. Now as far as telemarketers and other none human responses, that is another story. The bottomline is that if I am going to be in business, or want to have friends to play golf with, I need to respect the time and effort they took to contact me and return the favor respectfully.
Naysayers say I am wasting time and that I will never be successful in what I am doing if I don’t focus every minute I am awake to making a profit.
My reply to them all is based on not how I do business but on others who are much more successful than I am and the way they do business. My friend in the PGA did not become an executive and hold that position by not returning phone calls or replying to contacts that he ‘does not have time right now’. Nor will you if you make this your practice.
The other way business people feel they are managing their time effectively is that they have someone else monitor their emails and phone calls. This is helpful and does goes along with my philosophy of managing your business instead of working at doing it. But to have your ‘filters’ strain the message to a point that you do not get them, or even worst reply on your behalf that you do not have the time to reply right now, is even worst that if you just did not reply at all.
What is causing all of this lack of respect? Well, it is Lack of knowledge on the most part.
Most of new business people and managers of businesses today have never known or been shown how to manage their time. Or, have their time managed by someone who does not know how to manage his/her own time.
Most will quickly jump to the lame excuse that ‘I have too many demands on my workday to effectively get back to all of my calls and emails the same day’. I say that if this is the case then you have more fundamental problems than the lack of the ability to manage your time. You have operational problems that again need to be corrected before you go out of business.
If you are being pulled in too many ways to be able to focus on the most important assets to your business and life, your customers and your friends, then you need to look to finding help to take on some of those demands or get out of that business before it goes out of business. Tough Love Talk for those who believe what they are doing, not returning calls or emails, is doing business.
Even if not returning a call or message happened just once, you need to take time (even during a call back to your friends or customers) to review that incident and how to deal with it if it happens again. Does it warrant hiring someone to put out fires while you manage the business? Probably. Can you afford it? If not, you need to find a way to afford it.
So, you see that you need to make a change and heed my warnings that if you do not have time to communicate to the people who are communicating to you then you have no time to do business. And if you do not have time to do business by taking the time to personally communicate with your customers, clients and friends then you are going into the business of going out of business.
No matter how big your business is, or how big you want your business to seem to your customers, if you do not have a solid line of personal communications to the most value asset of your business, your customers and clients, you are going to go out of business. For these are the people who keep you in business.
Can I do business with someone who thinks nothing about me to return a call or message? No I can’t. And it is not totally because they did not return my call or replied with a disrespectful reply to an email. It pertains to I cannot I trust them so why do business with someone you cannot trust.
Am I being insensitive to the realities of business today? Am I out of touch for the way business is run today? Am I being too sensitive to getting my feeling hurt because someone does not take the time to return a call or reply to an email with the information I asked for. Simple answer to all of that; NO!
Now, my thinking is like most of yours, if someone does not have a solution to a problem they have address then all they are doing is whining.  So, as it is in my business to not address an issue, or problem, unless I have a solution here is what I have to offer those who feel they do not have the time to return calls or reply to emails;
•	If I am going to take my time to type an email to you at least respect my time and reply to the email with the answer to my questions or with a date and time to when you can get me the information. Do this to everyone and you are starting to build your business. No only will I refer more business to you, so will everyone else you treat this way.
•	Each time I pick up the phone and dial your number (even if it is on speed dial) I take it that I will have a 50% chance of getting you or your message service. To respect the time I took to reach out to you, you should at least personally acknowledge the call immediately and personally let me know when I can expect to hear from you. Doing this builds trust and when I and others can trust you then the business will be continuous and referrals start to flow.

RESPECT. It does not cost a thing to use, but could cost you your business if not used.

Nobody is saying anything on my comments sections or making comments on my blogs, but I see them and I appreciate it. But what I do not appreciate is that viewers are seeing stuff on the screen I did not put there. What they see are the ca-jillion ads popping up all over the screen for stuff nobody wants. What impression does that give people of me? Well it looks like I am a whore for the ads that are next to my photo. I wouldn’t complain but I am not getting paid for anything of it.
Being a business person I would not want my business to be advertised where these ads are being placed. I am not sure I would want to get the ca-jillion hits to my site by all of the SPAM that these ads generate….

I have been reading most of the threads on this site for a while to evaluate its worthiness to me and my clients who have hired me to find where the best places online should they invest their time in.
My evaluation of this site is out on my blog site so I will leave that for you to read for yourself.
The reason I am writing is to provide the members of this site, all alleged business developmenters (hard to tell with some of the photo's the members of this tribe hide behind), some insight into a few things that every business is challenged with that if not gotten under control will make spending time here on this site worth nothing. And, this could explain why there is only an average of one interesting post to this particular site per month.
So here goes for those of you still with me and are really looking for help solving you greatest business challenges.
There are a number of challenges businesses face but the top five pretty much are what you are dealing with right now.
The fifth is Trust, you don’t trust anyone, your customers and employees don’t trust you.
The fourth is the evaporating market. You re getting competition from everywhere the market is saturated with copy cat businesses that thrive on not being unique leaving businesses that are trying to change the market sitting on this site trying to find a solution.
The third is the fear of NOT getting an ROI. The catch word of the 21st century. The generation X and the baby boomers demand for quick gratification on every investment of every dollar. The business colleges are pumping out MBA’s that focuses on this mentality.
The second is raising costs. Yes, the CFO’s and COO’s of the world rational for everything they can’t do is based on rising costs. The headlines are full of CEO’s and top executives changing to other company’s, why? They failed to find a way to control costs.
Then the number one and the first challenge that comes out of every CEO’s mouth that has to stand up in front of his stockholders on why their ROI is not higher is due to ……Falling Profits.
OK, I stated the problems, what is the solution. If you look at these there is one that if solved will make the others disappear. And that one is not the one you probably would pick. It is Trust.
The lack of trust or care from you customers to be loyal to whatever it is you are in business to provide is the cause of all of these woes. OK, what is the solution to improving trust?
First of all there are very few things you can to improve trust because you have to build trust. And to build trust you have to get personally involved. Trust does not come in a letter, a post on this site or an email. Trusts come from looking someone in the eye and finding out what they are needing so you can provide it. You will not solve the trust problem unless you take a personal approach. You do this and you can start securing your customer base.
Hey, I have 20 thousand customers how I get to all of them personally. You tape into that other important resource you need to secure…your employees. Everyone who works for you should be able to represent your business like you sales people. And if treated right they probably would kick your sales department’s ass.
OK, how do you do this? People there is one business tool that if used correctly would create an interest amongst your customers to want to stay doing business with you much longer and will keep you from having to keeping from training new employees because your employee base is not about to leave due to them being now loyal to your company.
The answer is not what you suspect and, s not something a traditional consultant will say is viable because they usually do not know how to use it correctly. The one method that goes about solving trusts is generally presumed to not be cost effective, due again because most people do not know how to use it correctly. But it works and if you got your entire company involved using it you would be out here posting your ass off because you now have time and reason to tell other people in leaderships rolls what worked for you. Just like I am doing.
What is it that solved all of these problems? Business Golf
OK, click away if you may, but I have gotten it to work and it will improve business. And the way I go about telling you how to do it is not like how you are using it today, if you are.
Anyway. Business Golf will bring in more business, keep employees and customers happen and make more people want to do real business with you.
Think about. What have you got to lose? A few pounds around the waste and a few ulcers from worrying about what to do?
Come on, I’ll see you on the first tee.

Unless you have been hiding in the Mountains of Tibet,
or some other remote location devoid of the scourge of
the modern media, you know that we are living in an
increasingly litigious age. Everyone wants to sue
their neighbors, and their always seems to be some
idiotic Plaintiff's attorney willing to take some
bogus case on the off chance that they may be able to
settle for the nuisance value. In addition to the
Plaintiffs Bar, you also should be concerned about the
powers of the government which has adopted all manner
of abusive legal practices to deprive "evil doers"
like Martha Stewart of her wealth.

Fortunately, (for Martha Stewart who planned ahead and
really never had too much to worry about and the rest
of us) the laws are not entirely arbitrary and at the
whim of Bench. It is still possible to establish
effective, legal structures that can make you "bullet
proof" to all but the most determined adversary.

Five years ago I came up with an asset protection
solution for those with real property in non-Homestead
states. This system evolved into the Personal
Preservation Package. It is simple yet effective, but
suffers from one profound weakness (a weakness that
ALL asset protection programs suffer from):

YOU MUST ESTABLISH THE SYSTEM BEFORE SOMETHING BAD
HAPPENS!!!!!!

There is no such thing as true "bullet proof"
protection. Anyone who claims such is being
ingenuous. However, you can create a structure that
is so expensive for the creditor to crack that it is
just not worth the effort to do so. The problem with
most of these systems is that the cost and complexity
that is required to discourage a possible creditor is
also discouraging to the potential client.

That is why I am so proud of the Personal Preservation
Package. It is simple and elegant, yet powerful. For
full protection to be enjoyed, only 2 entities are
required: a Texas Irrevocable Trust and a Texas
Limited Liability Company. Together these 2 entities
create a barrier that only the most foolhardy of
creditors would even attempt to pierce.

And the best part is that the system is inexpensive to
establish, and inexpensive to maintain!!!!

If you would like more information about the Personal
Preservation Package, go to:
or just give me a call toll free at 1-877-226-3205.

REMEMBER: The best asset protection system will not
work AFTER you have been sued. Don't wait to find out
if you are protected. ACT NOW!!!

Many just are not "melting" into the "pot" anymore up in North America (my own Mom came to USA as immigrant just before World War 2 and of course hald to melt in then, sadly I grew up speaking only English both at home and school and was not until I attended University in the Northeast US that the spark ignited in me to learn and study foreign cultures and languages for even then I felt someday I would be ahead of the "pack" as it were and finally I was able to "globetrot" a bit, then on early retirement to "Expat" abroad in Latin America where I have happily resided for some 19 years now..view my Bio on URL: http://www.jetsetliving.com/article/postcard_from_latin_america.html

My question is this... I'm wondering if anyone here has started a flower shop and if they could give me an idea what kind of advertising/gimmicks work best to bring customers in and how much sales I might expect during my first 6 or 9 months of business.

Below are some initial thoughts.....
Evolution brands have a business model or product that meets an unmet need, or produces tried and true solutions in a more effective or efficient manner

Evolution brands have hiring and employment practices that encourage diversity in leadership positions, good deeds, ethical behavior, sustainable environmental practices, humane working conditions, and reward courage

Evolution brands are willing change perceptions in order to engage new behaviors (they're not riding on someone's coat tail)

Evolution brands recognize that free enterprise must be checked by a world view, they think globally

Evolution brands improve the human condition

I just started working with a company called Vertical Response ( www.verticalresponse.com/prod/info.html ). After seeing the product I just had to work here! I have done direct marketing for about 12 years, and my frustrations have often stemmed from having to work with outside agencies and waiting for proofs or changes, and/or trying to use ill-equipped company resources to get emails out.

Vertical Response offers an easy to use solution for big and small companies alike. Our iBuilder product is the most intuitive Web-based direct marketing solution on the market, allowing customers to deliver highly sophisticated and easy-to-deploy Email marketing campaigns as well as printed Postcard campaigns for delivery through the US Postal Service. It allows you to send HTML emails with very little technical expertise, it handles all your bounces, unsubscribes, etc., and gives you accurate campaign reporting.

You can send out a Can-Spam compliant, attractive HTML email, or create a Postcard, in about 10-15 minutes. Check it out by taking the tour, or even better by sending a test email, and let me know what you think.

Cheers,

Now, I have just finished a pro bono contract for a manufacturer in order to start my consulting firm - they liked my work a lot. I am looking to build a portfolio of 3 more pro bono contracts with non-profits to build my credibility before I actively start pursuing paying clients.

My question is, would you reccommend this type of strategy or should I immediately go after smaller paying clients instead?
