I thought I would stand up for a second and say hello. I am new to the group. (saying this in her best Alcoholics Anonymous voice) I am a pretty avid costumer. I am addicted to sewing. I sew 3-4 costumes a year depending on time. I am currently working on a bustle that seems to have gotten lost in my piles of sewing. but I have it out and I have plans to finish it in a month's time. The bustle I am making is the Laughing moon C. The bustle with train support. Like I said I am slow some times and others I sew like a demon.

My other current running sewing projects
-Corset
-Chemise
-Pantaloons
-Ball gown Bodice
-Dinner Bodice
-Walking suit Jacket/blouse combo
-Skirt with drapery and detachable train
-I also have a pet project of Gothic Lolita gear.

So in short I wanted to thanks for the add. And I would love to hear more of other projects that everyone else is working on.

Cheers,

Trixi

ok, so I need HELP!!!!!!!

We were handed tickets to the Labrynth Masquerade Sunday!!!! yeah!! and I am so not wanting to deal with a hoop at this, besides the fact that I have destroyed the Elizabethean ones, and gave the new pair I had bought to a freind, and my victorians are up in SF *LOL* so I am going to wear a bustle ball gown.... I will probably use burgandy and rose moire, since I have it, and I have burgandy cotton to line it *yeah* for work closing out thier drapery dept... now all I need is pictures and ideas... I will more then likely use TV paterns as a base, since I suck at drafting.... and since we were given the tickets by one of the organizers, I really want to shine.... I know hard when it is me.. I want them to see gown and not me.... so

HELP!!!!

I also decided to do historical rather then fantasy so I can wear it more then once... scary, thinking... and of course I have a little more then 6 weeks to do this in...

YIKES!!!
;-)

Fantastic sites for Bustle gals

Here are some sites that can be really helpful. You may already know these:
www.trulyvictorian.com: this is THE place for patterns. A couple of them are more advanced than others, but for the most part, the basic patterns will get you everything you need.

www.rivercrossings.com: this site is run by Miss Tabetha and her husband Mountain Mike. While 90% if their goods are leather and buckskin, she has developed a model of the cage bustle (the one that will hold up any material short of concrete for that late Bustle look.)
