I installed the E-MU 1820 today, and it seems to be working.. haven't hooked everything up yest, but everything looks good.
Unfortunately, Adobe Audition 1.5 does not support ASIO.. so no multutrack recording is possible. But - Audition 2.0 has been out for several months (I just learned), supports ASIO, and has several other features I've been hoping for.. so I will upgrade just as soon as I confirm that it is not bug-ridden (I doubt it).
We'll need to do some head-scratching to figure out the best way to use all this.. but I think the way we do our practice sessions is about to change dramatically, and for the better.

In a brilliant design move, the 1820 has 1 spdif in.. and two outs.
It's odd: all of these interfaces seem to have too many outputs and too few inputs.
Well, either way, we're moving up.

I take it all back..With the combination of Audition 2.0, the E-mu 1820, and my system.. I can barely play back a single wave file without incredible amounts of stuttering..
I don't know what the problem is: the E-mu drivers? (Probably). Audition demands? (possibly) A slow system? (Maybe.. mine's not optimized for audio, but I'm not really pushing it that hard.)
