05/16I regret to say that I strongly agree with this "SJSU SUCKS' thread. I got an MBA from State back in 2003, which has proven to be prettymuch worthless.
That's why a number of people are now for restoring our original identity: CALIFORNIA STATE. CSU, the big daddy, founding campus and flagship of the CSU system.

06/05Original state was San Jose Normal School, Then SJSU, then a short (and very unpopular) period of CSUSJ, then back to SJSU.
My degree has done me well. A great career at Lockheed Martin, now a student at a top 25 law school. I just hope football beats Illinois this year. -

06/25That bites! One of the best times I had there was my last night at school, with a band totally rocking the pub.
It was a great place to go to study as well. You could get away from the freshman idiots who have never been away from home before and don't know how to behave.
Muffins might sell better than pizza, but beer outsells them all. -

06/26Ya, the Pub was my favorite chill spot... Many good times had over there!
Peanuts (kitty corner from the Engineering Bldg) was also a favorite spot to go for grub... cheap breakfast & lunch (not as cheap as the $1 Vietnamese sandwich shops on 7th). Is it still around? -

07/10yikes the high grease content of food from Peanuts burns holes in my stomach! bleck.....however I have been known to saddle up to their bar during finals :D

07/19The sandwiches at the Vietnamese shops are now $1.50 to $2.00 or they were the last time I was there. Graduated in 2001.

10/18OK, so it has been almost 14 years but here is what I remember....
Several students managed to drown themselves in the piddly SJSU fountain from excess consumption of alcohol so they filled in the fountain and closed the pub.
Well, those incidents along with other alcohol deaths (typically at Frat events - who can survive 1L of tequila in a night?) caused the whole state system to crack down on on campus alcohol sales.
Have you been to any of the local college football games or been to concerts in those venues? At most, you can't even buy a beer.
I am sorry to say the excess of the '80s means SJSU won't see a pub on campus again.
