Konnichiwa mina-san,
I just found out that I was accepted to do an internship at an architectural office in Tokyo and I was wondering if anyone could give me a rough idea on monthly expenses in Tokyo. I know this can vary WIDELY but I am just trying to get an idea for a very small apt, daily train costs, food...etc...again - just ballpark figures are great...
I was in Japan in January (hajimete deshita) and I am excited to return. I hope this intership leads to a job, but you never know. At least I bet it might be fun, ne?
Any help is really appreciated from this Philadelphia gaijiin....
Doomo!

Re: arriving (soon) gaijin: estimate of monthly expenses in Tokyo

The basic starting pay for an English teacher is 250,000 a month. I think that would cover a guest house room (70,000 or so a month with a shared kitchen and common space) and basic expenses. It is tough to find an apartment without quite a bit of starting up money.
Good luck!
