I am moving into a new home this weekend and am wondering, what are everyone's favorite methods for blessing/ clearing a new home?
Thanks in advance :)

Re: New home blessings?
Tue, September 15, 2009 - 7:24 PMfirst, clean the home before you move your stuff in, SCOUR IT!!, then at the entrance of the house address the structure of the house and tell it what you want of it, ( to be a place of security, of solitude, of harmonious gatherings, of sanctuary, etc etc) then white dage smudge the rooms individually, THICKLY. Afterwards perhaps a nice summoning spell to summon the spirit of the house( the structure, not a human spirit), maybe using a good Benzoin/ Myrrh combination with whatever other scents you may think are fitting for the purpose you have chosen for the structure, then after proper acknowledgement of the house itself, and respects given, perhaps ( but this is just me) a protection over the house, and a place to set up an alter for the house itself, ( where offerings can be given to the spirit of the home, requests, and spells performed for the benefit of the home spirit). -

Re: New home blessings?
Sun, November 8, 2009 - 3:25 PMsprinkle salt and extra sage/smudging at all portals (doors/windows), make some noise too, chimes and bells, especially in corners and closets/nooks and crannies where energy can get stagnant....and remember to open all doors and windows once done smudging to allow all that old energy out, and fill it with the fresh air of the new. welcome home! -

Re: New home blessings?
Mon, November 9, 2009 - 10:41 AMMy wife handles the smudging & portals. For myself, I usually make a full walk of the grounds before we commit to the dwelling to make sure there are no dead trees: a very bad sign of some misalignment in the site. This was a hard lesson to learn as we moved into one house before I learned about this and it turned into a nightmare with the house's downstairs tenant (terrible belligerence, stalking, and all manner of nastiness). I finally dug up the dead tree and laid it to rest under two huge holly trees in another part of the yard.
