in my tradition red, green and white are very traditional, but silver and blue are also in frequent use. snow, evergreens and red berries are all pretty common sites in nature around these parts :-)

of course the green and red... but my altar on winter solistice is blue and white and silver with some black... i tend to focus on the dreamlike qualities of the season (i.e. dreaming up the goals/plans/seeds for the coming year---yule is my new year); and i always incoroporate a candle ceremony to welcome back the rebirth of light.
