So I'm looking for a little help understanding wise.
I left the covent I helped bring together behind when I move across country. My group seemed to have drifted apart after I left and I hardly hear from them any more now, even when I write. Here there seems to be only cathlics and christians who not only won't speak to me I've even been called a devil worshiping cat killer. (I'm a chaos witch and negativity is not in my nature). It's not that I throw my ways out for thew world to see, It's just that I don't attend their churches and those who are near me notice my necklacess with the goddess on it. I refuse to hide what I am and try to be outgoing but am beging to feel a bit lonely here.
Any one who's ever been in this situation and can lend me advice, I would appreciate it.

Re: Lost Pagan
Wed, May 27, 2009 - 7:09 AMI was in this position when I lived in Tillamook....I got so irritated that I spray painted a pentagram on my car.
I figured if they were going to harrass me, I might as well give them a reason to......
After about a month, I was no longer was harrassed, people who didn't approve just left me alone.....
I know painting your car is pretty dramatic but you could always do something of the like.....

Wed, May 27, 2009 - 8:27 PMI had a similar experience in Flagstaff. on the advice from a former covenmate in New York, my then spouse and I attended the local Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. On our first visit the responsive reading was Starhawk. Within the year the board asked us to form a CUUPs chapter which eventually attracted other pagans from the town and from the Norhtern Arizona University campus.
If you found it they will come..
Best of luck -

Wed, June 3, 2009 - 10:00 PMI don't think this is just the area to post a pentagram on my car or house ( too much open mesas where bodies are lost for years). I live three plotts down from a Temple of the Jahova witnesses and have them knocking on my door all the time and have four different christian churches within a mile of my house. I do know there are other pagans in the city, but it's an hour away.
How do you go about finding them when you work full time and go to school full time at the same time?
How do you find those who follow our beliefs as a way of life, a real religion and keep away those fad followers and phoney kitchen witch want to be's -

Re: Lost Pagan
Thu, June 4, 2009 - 10:22 AMThe quickest way I know of to find people is through Witchvox. They have listings for every state in the Union of folks who are pagan. Also it depends on where you are in New Mexico. I've never been in Albuquerque but in Santa Fe I've seen plenty of herbal shops etc. Taos also has a great pagany feel. Also, in my experience some folks who are Catholic do practice a type of folk magic - curanderismo. Think of it as somewhat akin to how Santeria was a way for folks to reconcile the Catholicism they were pretty much forced or "strongly encouraged" to adopt and their native religions. Also get in touch with the folks at Ardantane and see what you can come up with.
Peace,
Raven
