I'm not sure if search engine marketing counts as High Tech career but I can't find a career / jobs tribe and I would really like to get some opinions / 2 cents
This is the short version :o
I've been working for a company doing search engine blogging using SEM methods. I hate living in Los Angeles and love living in Austin, Texas.
Austin TX jobs are not great. I would have to take at least a $5 per hour pay cut just to find a job and back into Admin if I wanted to stay here.
I'm creating a letter to my current company in hopes of convincing them to allow me to let me stay working virtual – however I highly doubt the owner will say yes. However even if they do... my career with this job is at a dead end or seems like it. I'm contastantly left out of the loop in my own projects.
I've received some promising interest in anther state that is a lot colder than Austin but the cost of living is almost as high as Los Angeles.
So do I
a) take a shitty job and try to go back to school and wait it out (the pay cut would really hurt financially)
b) Go back to my home town of Seattle where I could probably (no one has offered yet) find a job and be happy but colder but probably push my career ahead
any 2 cents?

Re: career question
Tue, March 11, 2008 - 10:05 PMDo what makes you happiest and the rest will fall into place...no sense in being miserable and broke when you can be happy and (temporarily) broke. If you've got root in Seattle, then you have the social network to pick you up should you need it.
that's 25 cents worth...sorry
