Freedomcommunity New Year's CELEBRATION

For those Beavers that have attended Burning Man in the past two years, you should be well-acquainted with FreedomCommunity. This year FreedomCommunity will be getting together for New Year's. I'm planning the whole she-bang, and I would love for Beavers to come!

Read below for all the details:

Let's celebrate the New Year by honoring our relationships, giving ourselves permission to relax and enjoy ourselves, and celebrating our love for ourselves and one another.

You are invited to join us in Joshua Tree, CA for 6 days of music, conversation, hot tubbing, eating, drinking, dancing, laughing, cuddling, creating, designing, playing, frolicking, and anything else you want to do together.

This year, the theme is JOY. What gives you joy? What motivates you to seek it out? What about Freedomcommunity makes your soul sing and your heart beat a bit faster? How often do we let ourselves be the ebullient, joyous creature that giggles too loud and dances until our legs hurt? What's preventing us from allowing ourselves the free expression that brings us joy? What about your friends, family and lovers gives you joy? How can you create that feeling of joy and love in your daily life? Let's get together to play with our joy, try to create more of it for ourselves and our friends, and ring in the new year as joyously as we can.

Here are all the details:

Venue:
Joshua Tree is an easy 2 hour drive east of Los Angeles. The home is a compound rental property on a ranch about 10 minutes from the entrance to Joshua Tree National Park. It's the high desert and it's gorgeous- one of the most magical places I've ever been (I spent the end of the world there, once).

The main house has a kitchen, living room, dining room, study, wifi, 2 bedrooms, two hottubs, a heated swimming pool, a firepit, a washer and dryer, a BBQ, an outdoor fireplace, and a beautiful, large patio. There's also has a rec house with a pool table, ping pong, more sleeping areas, and lots of floorspace. There's also a volleyball court, horseshoes, and tether ball.
As in years past, bringing a sleeping bag is a good idea, as we'll have people in the beds and on the floor. It is very private and very lovely.

The town of Joshua Tree is an artsy, desert community. There are some great Mom & Pop restaurants, neat shops, good bars, and wonderful people. The park is spectacular with amazing hiking, rock climbing, and sightseeing. The stargazing is insane. The park is great for a day hike or for backpacking for a couple of days. Winter weather is similar to Las Vegas and other desert areas- pleasant during the day, and fairly chilly at night. Camping is a possibility, though it can get pretty cold on winter nights. I've done it, but it's not the coziest.

Alternative housing is certainly an option. There are plenty of hotels and inns around Joshua Tree. If you want to participate without committing to sleeping at the house, feel free to do so.

The time:
This will be a 6 night rental. You can arrive starting on Monday, December 29th. Check out is Sunday, January 4th.

Cost:
The cost will be $90 per person for however long you intend on staying. Therefore, if you're in for the full week, you pay the same as if you're in for only one night. If you don't intend on sleeping at the house at all, please consider donating to support the costs of the rental. Any extra cash will be used for groceries and sundries. When you consider how much cash you'd drop at a bar on New Year's, this is a pretty sweet deal. After Thanksgiving, the cost goes up to $130 per person. I have to pay up front, so consider this an incentive to figure out your plans tout de suite. To reserve your spot, you can PayPal me the $93 (including $3 to cover the paypal fees) to my email address: Allison.moon@gmail.com. You can also mail me a check for $90. If you do this, please send me an email so I can be sure to expect it. **If you can pay more, please consider doing so. Even an extra $5 will be of great help. All the money will go to making this week spectacular**

Travel:
Flying in to LAX is your best bet to arrange for ground travel. You can also fly into Ontario, Glendale, or Palm Springs. All of these airports are easily accessible from LA. You are responsible for getting yourself to Joshua Tree, though I am available to help coordinate, should you need it.

Special Events:
If you have something you'd like to share, create, or ask for from the community, please let me know. I'll work with you to figure out the best way of making it happen. More notably, if you have something you'd like to see happen for New Year's Eve itself, let me know!

Space use:
I will do my best to divide the space in a reasonable way. I will be sure to create a sex-positive space, a sex-free space, plenty of cozy sleeping areas, and great places to get together to chat.

Food:
We will be providing groceries. If you enjoy cooking and would like to prepare a meal for the group, please let me know. You are sure to get much love for giving us such a wonderful gift.

Guests:
Guests are welcome. Everyone who commits to coming will get the same information. This is a rental, but I want to make sure it is treated with the respect and care we would give to a friend's home. Please think carefully about whom you'd like to bring to this event. I don't intend on capping the number of attendees, but please be mindful that sleeping on the floor is part of this event, as is sharing space with a lot of people with various sleep schedules and intentions of their own.

Minors:
Not without prior discussion. There is room for minors at the event, but times and places will have to be decided on beforehand such that all attendees may be aware well in advance. Contact me if you have any questions about this.

Questions and comments:
Please email me if you have any questions that aren't addressed here.

Interested? Great! You can do one of two things:
(1) Pay now and secure your spot. Easy-peasy. (2) Email me to let me know of your interest. If you can't pay now or are unwilling to commit, let me know so I can still maintain a count of interest. Let me address any concerns or questions for you.

******Finally, by paying for your reservation, these are the commitments you are agreeing to:*******

1) You are committing to being present at some point during the week, and, unless there is an emergency, you won't cancel on us.

2) You agree to treat the property with the respect and care you would give to the home of a friend or family member. This means cleaning up after yourself and doing your part to assure that the home stays in great condition.

3) You agree to treat the other guests with respect and appreciation as part of the community, regardless of time spent within freedomcommunity.

4) You are committing to treating yourself and the community with dignity. This means asking for what you want, being honest with yourself and others, and taking care of your needs.

5) You agree that "appropriate behavior" is a subjective term. You are in understanding that you cannot control others' choices, including that of drug use, sexuality, and sleep schedules.

6) You are committing to airing any pertinent concerns about the week with myself or another participant.

I am wildly enthusiastic about this week, and cannot wait to CELEBRATE with you all.

Email me at allison.moon(at)gmail.com with any questions.

I'll be scheduling clearing conversations with all attendees in the coming weeks.
