Tijuana's economy is 100% dependent on tourists and related hangers-on. So is camp Tijuana's. So, we need ways to attract the various people needed to make our little experiment a success..
We will of course need all manner of seedy con-men, hookers, desperate street-salesmen, and maybe the occasional crooked constable shaking people down.. and of course, rough saloons..
maybe we should start doing fundraisers now, so we can offer free drinks for anybody who makes the trip out from BRC..
any other ideas? esp for increasing traffic flow?

Re: encouraging traffic
Wed, January 2, 2008 - 9:11 PMI will definitely go if this is happening. Back to your question - How do we encourage traffic? I'm stumped. Do we spread the word?
We do need lots of like-minded comrades to support. Why isn't this idea mucho grande already? Maybe we should all pray?
I say we just do it and La Raza will come!

Re: encouraging traffic
Sun, January 6, 2008 - 3:35 PMThere are areas "out there" with some rather significant traffic flows along the West Playa Highway with several vehicles per night moving through that route. Also note that if you are too close to BRC you are likely to get a little harassment in subtle but annoying ways such as frequent dustings, etc. If you want this to be something sustainable, I would go way the fuck out there. Set up camp 10 to 15 miles deep in the playa and burn some shit they can see from BRC. -

I believe that the whole point of Camp Tijuana is to be right on the border - for a number of reasons.
But there is no reason that other groups cannot camp further out.
You will not be able to fire guns in Camp Tijuana, but 2 more miles out that would be possible.

Re: encouraging traffic
Tue, January 8, 2008 - 8:04 PMInteresting concept. I'm joining to see how this develops!
Increasing traffic? 2 miles out from playa itself? Is that right? Will Tijuana folks be entering brc? Transport between possible? Logistics thoughts on that being a bit difficult but possible ;-)
Fire. Chinese lanterns - they float untill they go out....not leave no trace though :-( They do eventually come down, somewhere....eventually.
Fire may be a problem - as may the perimeter set up....I'm sure someone else mentions this but haven't read the thread yet.
Word of mouth - huge.
Would it be registered as a theme camp? Could it be being it's out of the playa area?
How many projected people = required permit possible. Tijuana's spread out may make it a little easier to avoid the req. for a permit. Tijuana, on the border camp - is it the same thing? If not, see if they want to team up to make this a place to visit.
Tequila. Much tequila :-)
Web presence and use of eplaya/tribe to spread the word.

Mon, January 14, 2008 - 4:24 AMGotta sell a LOT of cheap BM T-shirts.
Preferably, bring a crud screen print rig to make them there.
Above all else: CASH MUST BE MADE
Sell some over priced water that gives people the runs!

Big black smoke rings. Does anyone know how to do this? I vaguely recall it involved gasoline and big metal oil drums.
