The I Ching (Classic of Changes or Book of Changes), also known as the Yi Jing, Yijing, or I Ging, is one of the Five Classics, the fundamental books of Confucianism. It is over 3000 years old (the symbols used in divination are over 5000 years old), making it both one of the oldest surviving books in the world, and one of the oldest forms of divination. It is by far the most popular spiritual resource and oracle in Asia, and has a growing following in Europe and the Americas based on its uncanny ability to provide detailed insights to those who study it carefully.

I can give you a personal reading from the coins. All you have to do is post your true full name, your question or what you want to know, and which coins you want me to use, Coins or Yarrow...Happy Readings!

    • SISTER MARY, HERE IS YOUR I-CHING READING!

      Sat, November 18, 2006 - 5:25 PM
I KEPT FOCUSING ON YOUR QUESTION WHAT KIND OF PET WILL PICK "YOU" OUT AND WHEN THIS MIGHT BE...I HAD TROUBLE FOR AWHILE, SO I LIT SOME SAGE AND CONCENTRATED ONWARD WITH CANDLE MAGICK AND TAROT THEN WENT ON TO DO THE COINS AGAIN AND I CAME UP WITH THIS....

YOUR PRESENT HEXAGRAM IS 61 WHICH IS "CENTERING IN TRUTH"

      Your Present Hexagram

Truth involves establishing an aware relationship between your inner core and the circumstances in your life. Centering in truth involves the ability to perceive a fundamental wisdom, reflected within yourself - and also in others.

Truth is transformed into power when you disperse all prejudice and make yourself receptive to the world as it really is. This power can be a remarkable force indeed - yet is rarer than generally imagined. It can be maintained only by cultivating a genuine openness to things as they are - a willingness to see, rather than merely look.

Whenever your inner life is clouded, your influence in the world is under a shadow. If you are fearful, you will be attacked; if you cloak genuine mysteries in dogma, opportunities for new insight will be lost. If you vacillate in upholding your principles, you will be tested. Yet, when you are firm and strong, the power of truth can break through even the most stubborn minds.

In any debate, the power to perceive the truth in the other side's argument is essential to achieving success. It is possible to influence even the most difficult people, or improve the most difficult circumstance, through the power of universal truth - for truth is something to which all things naturally respond. Get in touch with that part of yourself that is aware of this universal force of truth. Cultivate this inner resource, and you will become adept at using it to bind others to a common purpose.

      Going Forward

If you found your I-Ching reading helpful, you may want to follow up with a related question to dive deeper into your area of concern. Multiple I-Ching readings can add dimension and more profound insight to your understanding of your situation. This may be the critical input you need to make an important decision or heal an emotional wound.

If your reading didn’t answer all of your questions, this may be because the information you were seeking was too narrow or too general. The most successful readings are those that are prefaced with a specific, open-ended question. Questions asking for exact data or very general information, such as "What lottery numbers should I choose?" or "Will it rain today?" will not be as helpful.

So focusing on your hexagram, I gathered that there are two sides to the present situation about getting a pet. Either other people or situations are getting in the way of you concentrating on recieving your pet, or making it difficult. Past expierences with pets have not been a positive influence on your life mabey you had a pet and something happened, or you never had a "real" pet before that was one to call your own. You have a pet now and mabey they will not get along? Either way, if there is something negative possibly in picking out your pet, then it is best to wait until there are all positives involved in the matter. I felt like getting a pure bred might not be the best thing for you either in exotic pet or pure bred dog. A mutt in the pound would soften your heart and give you something you have been missing! Would probably even save your life one day.....but that is another time and place lol
It is much harder to read people over the internet, but I try my best. If I had more info, I could do better and even seeing you would be perfect lol because I go by auro's and past people in your lives for readings.... your astrology could also help us out with this question when we put them together. I felt from the coins that you are a very insightful person in astrology and you enjoy it so!! I also felt that you are a no nonenese kind of person lol, so straight to the truth is the way to go with ya! I "chinged" you a few times and the same hexagram came out so, it is benificial to put 2 and 2 together for yourself with your questions and I wish you the best in your endevours in life! If you need me to focus more or to do a tarot on this, just let me know, !!! Love and Light to you, Mary Ellen!

CANECE I DID 2 I CHINGS FOR YOU BECAUSE YOUR FIRST ONE TALKED ABOUT OBSTACLES, SO I NEEDED TO CLARIFY IF THAT WAS PERTAINING TO YOUR QUESTION, AND IT WAS, SO HERE ARE THE TWO HEXAGRAMS I GOT, THE FIRST ONE TALKS ABOUT SUCCESS BUT THE SECOND ONE TALKS ABOUT YOU NEED TO GET OVER SOMETHING IN ORDER FOR THE SUCCESS TO COME FIRST......

                      THE FIRST ONE
The present is embodied in Hexagram 31 - Hsien (Influence):

On the fulfillment of the conditions implied here, there will be a free course and success. Its advantage will depend on being firm and correct, I see getting a new job! There will be good fortune.

There are no changing lines, and hence the situation is expected to remain the same in the immediate future.

The things most apparent, those above and in front, are embodied by the upper trigram Tui (Lake), which represents joy, pleasure, and attraction.

The things least apparent, those below and behind, are embodied by the lower trigram Ken (Mountain), which represents stillness and obstruction, which is causing the question in mind to not happen immediatley...something must be done to yourself in order for these changes to occur....

PICTURES OF THESE WILL BE IN PHOTOS, SO NOW I ASKED WHAT OBSTRUCTION CAUSES YOU TO NOT GET A NEW JOB OR GET A PROMOTION....

                      HERE IS THE SECOND ONE:

                      HEXAGRAM 51 "SHOCK"

One hears thunder unexpectedly! First comes fear, then a sharpened, clearer vision. Recall a close brush with danger - a falling branch, an automobile accident barely avoided, an escape from a potentially violent confrontation. Such incidents first arouse every nerve fiber in your body in a brief wave of terror, but soon, once the danger has passed, give way to a heightened awareness of the world. The same process also occurs with other types of shock - the loss of a job, the death of a loved one, business failure and so on.

The lasting impact of a major shock can either be stimulating or debilitating, depending upon one's inner strength of character. The critical factor is the ability to become immune to fear, thereby transforming anxiety into a laser-sharp perception of the world around you.

When overtaken by crisis, the wise search their hearts for inner strengths, in order to face the world with courage. Courage often means daring to take the unexpected path - to bounce back quickly and self-confidently after failure, to have faith in the eternal when confronted with death.

We tend to think of shock only in the context of unpleasant events. We can also be jarred, however, by the sudden release of tension which comes with unexpected success. To keep your bearings in the aftershock of either trauma or victory, it is essential that your inner compass be aligned with "true north", that magnetic force which guides you toward fulfillment of both your deepest desire, and your highest destiny.

Something has to happen first in order for your outcome to be fufilled.
                      It will be a shock,
but like your i ching is saying, the situation that will come, clears the way to you reciving the new job or the new promotion! I see it as reciving a new job. Let us know how it goes ok?

The GOAT … THE GENTLE GOAT
**PICTURE OF YOUR GOAT SYMBOL AND CHARACTER IN PHOTOS!
The Goat is the most easygoing of all the signs … sensitive to other people's needs, kindhearted, flexible and social. Goats love life, and all forms of art will help them express their active energy and joie de vivre. When stressed, they can be moody and appear weak, but will stubbornly resist the opinions of others if they disagree. They are devoted to their loved ones, outgoing and quite outspoken about the world they live in.
Goats are both free-spirited and honest -- whatever they say about something or someone will not be far off the truth. They are well connected and loved because of their kind nature. It's common for their mothers to be their best friends. Goats are assertive but not dominant … and tend to complete what others leave undone. They make great coworkers and superior friends … as long as you allow them space to be creative.

                        Mantra:
Living is my form of art.

                        I-Ching Readings for Goats:
Easy-going Goats are at peace surrounded by art and family. Their chilled out temperament might seem a sign of weakness at times, but actually Goats are quite proud. Goat, don’t let your stubborn streak alienate those around you.

                        Money for the Goat
Goats love to work hard for their money, but they must be allowed plenty of creative freedom in the trenches … with it they will inspire teammates and colleagues alike. They are inventors at heart and can make money with innovative ideas and products. As logical thinkers, they also make great engineers. Money handling is no different -- they earn and spend with a combination of creativity and logical reasoning. They know how to save, even on a low income. In fact, they are often the ones to dream-up and launch new money making ideas , which tend to attract many followers. Their dreams of getting rich propel them forward but they struggle with the doubt that it will ever happen

                        Love for the Goat Woman
Never forget your wedding date with this woman! Give her a gift every week or bring her flowers for all the occasions she thinks are important. Then you will be the ideal partner. A Goat woman likes a perfect household -- having a well-ordered and beautiful home with her partner is very satisfying to her. Most Goat women believe in and seek out the traditional marriage … and, with their natural creativity, they usually find it.

                        Rest of the year predictions:
                        January 28, 2006 - February 1, 2007

Year of the Red Fire Dog

                        Goat
Don't neglect any problems that may crop up this year, dear Goat, as the people around you will not like it if you do. Keep track of your bills and be sure to obey traffic laws or you could find yourself in court defending multiple speeding tickets! In fact, during the Fire Dog year you need to follow the rules of society. Move slowly and carefully in all endeavors. And don't get emotionally involved in the problems of others. Lend a listening ear but don't try to solve their dilemmas yourself. You may mean well, but your advice can sometimes be too much. It's a year for a light touch all around.

Feng Shui Tip: Slow down your life and add more earth tones to your environment to support and ground you.

                        Famous Goats:
                        Pamela Anderson
                        Jane Austen
                        Robert De Niro

Thank you for the reading. it really puts my mind at ease a little bit that I'm on the right track in searching for a new job. Although it makes me nervous about what my obstacle could be and the impending 'shock' that has to happen first.

I am glad you will get some perspective from it.... Sometimes reading are not always good, and that is a blessing in disguise! When we know something is going to happen, 2 things can occur...One, you are prepared already so when it happens you have already had your mind set on it, so it will not be a "shock" anymore. So already we have changed that course in your life. Two, when readings say something will happen it could mean a debt, you quit your job, it does not necessarily mean something bad is going to happen, just something unexpected and different. that would be what "shock" means in I Ching. Something you did not expect. Well, we got the upper hand on this too, right? So in the end, please do not feel nervous. Feel blessed! It sure seems like things are going to work out just like you hoped it would!! Blessings, Serena~~

                            The Synchronicity Principle
We have some notion of a tendency of events to cluster around a moment in time in our own culture, as evidenced by folk sayings like, "Good things (or accidents) happen in threes," etc. This only exists as a superstitious kind of popular awareness. Nevertheless, it has long been evident that there is a tendency for several scientists at the same time to make the same discovery completely independently. And, in histories of science, one can observe that there is a tendency for certain ideas and inventions to crop up in different places at the same time. Or, on a more mundane level, one has been known to wonder why the most needed library book is always the one already checked out?

Although a synchronistic point of view would seem to fly in the face of "scientific method," designed to support the value of statistical truth and predict cause and effect, the principle was strongly validated by the micro-physicist, Werner Heisenberg's discovery in 1937. In the proof of his Uncertainty Principle, which still stands, Heisenberg demonstrated that, in the realm of sub-atomic particles, everything has an influence on everything else, including the perceiver's influence on what is perceived. This is another way of saying that everything that happens in a given situation at a given time is related to and participates with everything else. So, as far as we know now, there is no such thing as "scientific objectivity," statistical probabilities notwithstanding. As Jung put it,

"Every process is partially or totally interfered with by chance, so much so that under natural circumstances a course of events absolutely conforming to specific laws is almost an exception."

In his fascinating book, New Directions in the I-Ching, mathematician Larry Schoenholtz points out that there are several scientific theories that seem to validate the synchronicity theory:

"Since I have mentioned the connection of synchronicity with the better-known theories of mainstream physics, I shall mention other parallels as well. The phenomenon of radioactive decay has been particularly baffling from the causal viewpoint. The spontaneous disintegration of certain atoms through radioactive emission is an event for which modern physics cannot provide an answer"
But it is quite in keeping with a synchronistic view of things. No less a figure than the physicist Sir James Jeans says of this mystery,
"Radioactive break-up appeared to be an effect without a cause, and suggested that the ultimate laws of nature were not even causal."

If we add to the radioactivity puzzle such related puzzles as are found in the quantum theory, Heisenberg's uncertainty principle, and most of the tenets cited in Einstein's general theory of relativity, an impressive case can be made for incorporating the synchronicity principle into mainstream physics.

When the unified field theory is worked out to the bone - the evidence here, too, is mounting steadily - and the entire clockworks of the cosmos can be brought under a set of unifying equations, this will be the final touch for bringing the synchronicity principle into full popularity among scientists.

The application of synchronicity is based on the strategy that looking for the meaning in coincidental events is more pragmatic than striving to predict things according to notions of causality, surmised from statistical records. Perhaps ancient oriental scientists, who lacked our record keeping technology, found it easier to realize this and devised the Book of Changes to put their observations to work. By using the magic of numerical chance within the context of an ingenious system of archetypal readings, they claimed they were able to follow the convoluted patterns of how things tend to go together. Maybe now, using a personal computer, we can take advantage of their prescience in a way that honors the best of both worlds.
