Burying Spell

Perform a burying spell and lay to rest an old hurt, a dead relationship, or an outgrown habit. Choose a symbol that embodies the aspect of your life that you need to let go of— a cigarette for example can represent an obsolete love affair, out-of-date expectations, or your poor self-image. Hold the symbol in your hands and tell it goodbye. Wrap it up in paper and string, using an appropriate color—red for anger, hurt, or old passions; black for banishing and symbolic death; yellow for healing an old wound; purple for spiritual concerns. Find a quiet location and dig a hole. Bury the symbol, cover with earth, and dust your hands off three times, saying: "I've wrapped it up, it's dead and buried. Farewell and good riddance!"

DAILY SPELL FOR THE WITCH IN ALL OF US...
    FRIDAY NOVEMBER 3

    Harvest Is In Ritual

The harvest is in, and the cold winds of November blow sleet and rain against the windowpanes. A warm home is security against the winter weather to come. Now is the time to set a soup to simmer on the stove. As you gather the ingredients, think about the health and welfare of your loved ones. When the stock is ready, stir deosil (clockwise) and add vegetables, one at a time. Enchant the soup as you stir by saying, "I stir this brew with loving care to keep my family well. The gifts of the earth will keep us strong."

      SPELL FOR SATURDAY NOVEMBER 4

      Ancestor Invocation
      Color of the day: Brown
      Incense of the day: Jasmine

This day is very close to both Hopi and Zuni Ancestor Days. (CHECK OUT ABOUT HOPI AND ZUNI TRIBES ON MY PAGE'S BLOG!)It is a good time to make an offering. Bring fresh fruit and vegetables of the season, a white candle, and matches to the closest body of fresh water. Those without a body of water can still pay tribute using a freshwater fountain. Set out fruit that is special to your family or heritage. Clear a space down to the dirt to place the candle, and light it. Begin your prayer of thanks:

I know that you were here in my beginning and that you will be here in the end. Blessed be. Thank you for always being with me, for influencing, shaping, and making me whole. Blessed be. I lay these fruits out for you to partake in our elixirs of life. Blessed be. I am yours you are mine-in body, mind, and spirit. Blessed be.

Bow your head. Listen to the ancestor’s response. When you are ready, extinguish the candle and take it with you. Leave the fruit out as an offering to the ancestors.

    SUNDAY NOVEMBER 5, 2006

SINCE TONIGHT AND THE NEXT 3 NIGHTS I WILL BE CONDUCTING RITUALS FOR THE FULL MOON. SO, I WILL BE POSTING NUMEROUS RITUALS AND SPELLS THAT HAVE TO DO WITH THE FULL MOON TODAY. DO NOT FEEL LIKE YOU HAVE TO TRY THESE, SOME ARE VERY ADVANCED. YOU CAN ALWAYS USE THESE AS GUIDELINES FOR YOUR OWN RITUALS!

    SOLITARY MOON RITE

This rite may be used for either New or Full Moon. The difference is
in your meditation and mental attitude in preparation. Remember that
the New Moon is a time of outward work and thought, building to the
peak which is the Full Moon. At the Full Moon, you should be prepar-
ing to lessen the outward flow of energy, bit by bit, until the period
before New Mo on, during which you are passive, building a pool of
energy within you, in preparation for the New Moon.

The altar should be placed in the center of the ritual area. On it
should be placed a rose or stick of incense on the eastern side, a red
votive candle to the South; a cup of water on the West, and a bowl of
salt or living plant on the North.

Around your ritual area, you should place an unlighted candle at the
    cardinal point of each direction.

To begin your rite, enter your darkened temple, carrying one burning
candle, white or lavender, with you. Place it on the center of your
altar, sit, and meditate on the meaning of the rite. When you feel
the time is right, stand, and go to the eastern point, carrying with
you, the burning taper. Light the votive at the eastern point and go
to the southern, picturing, as you do, an arc of pure strong light
curving from one candle to the next. Continue to the West, and then
to the North, lighting the candles as you go, and then walk to your
eastern candle again, having formed a circle of pro tective light
surrounding the area in which you worship.

Return to the center of the circle, replace the candle on the altar,
    and say:

My Lady of the Moon, who is called Diana, Artemis, Levanah, Isis and
by any other names, I come to you to bring you my love and my devo-
tion. May you grant me the joy of your presence.

Mentally divide the room into four quadrants by visualizing a line of
silvery moonlight from the southeast to the northw est, and from the
northeast to the southwest. Go the East, taking with you the rose or
    incense. Say:

Sweet Goddess, the gentle breeze is the touch of your loving hand, the
wind of storm a reminder of your strength. The s ound of the trees in
the wind is your voice, and the fragrance of flowers borne on the wind
    is your gift of beauty.

Place the rose next to the votive candle, then stand there as you
picture the quadrant filling with moonlight. See the moonlight
streaming quietly and gently into the room, filling the quadrant
from center point to the edge of your circle.

When this is complete, take the red candle to the South. Place the
gift and see the quadrant fill with moonlight. Say:

Most loved Lady, the light of the candle is a guide along our path
leading to you; its warmth the reassurance of your presence and your

love. The light of the Sun is the knowledge you impart to us, driving
out ignorance and those things which can survive only in darkness.

    At the West:

Lovely One, the quiet pool is the serenity of your being. The vast
sea where life began on this planet is the vast sea of your being
whence all life came; its waves are the ebb and flow of the universe
    you rule.

    At the North:

Goddess of all, the fertility of the earth is a sign of your fer-
tility, whence all life rose. The solidity and permanence are still
of it are still less than yours. The Earth's fertility feeds our
bodies, and your fertility feeds our souls.

Go to the center of your temple, which is now filled with moonlight.
Everything in the circle is touched by it, blessed by it, including
you. Sit down and feel this moonlight around you. Know that it is
the Goddess. Realize that you are in the center of a sphere of light
that is half above and half above and half below where you sit. Begin
to breathe slowly and evenly, deep breaths that penetrate your whole
body. When this rhythmic breathing becomes natural, imagine that the
moonlight by which you are surrounded enters you, fills you entirely.
With each exhalation of your breath, some of the essence of yourself
leaves your body, and with each inhalation, the light enters you. You
are being filled ever so gently with this beautiful light. This
light, which is the presence, the being of the Goddess, is within you
as well as without. With each breath, you are less yourself and more
    the Goddess.

When you are filled with light, filled with the Goddess, the shell of
your body fades away. You have no body; there is nothing to separate
you from the entire being of the Goddess. Nothing exists but the
being of which you are apart. You have ceased to be a separate
entity. You are nothing and everything. All that was, that is, and
all that will be, you are.

Enjoy this feeling as long as you like. When you feel it is time,
picture the outer shell of your physical body reformi ng, becoming
solid again. It is being built out of the Universe of which you are a
    part.

Now, as you continue your slow deep breathing, see the moonlight
flowing out of your body, as gently and slowly as it entered. As it
flows out, realize there is a difference. Because you have become one
with the Goddess, with the Universe, your being has changed. As the
moonlight flows out of your body, it takes with it a part of that
which was yourself, now part of the Goddess, and leaves behind a part
of the Goddess, forever now part of you. You become yourself again,
solid as you were, but changed. You are surrounded by the presence of
the Goddess, which now contains a part of yourself .

Move again to the East. As you speak, and after, picture the moon-
light in that quadrant flowing back to its source, lea ving that
    quadrant as it was.
Do this at each quadrant, until all the moonlight has returned to the
    Moon.

    At the East:

My Lady, guide my thoughts. Let them lead always closer to you.

    At the South:

Gracious Goddess, guide my actions. Let them always help and never
    harm others or myself.

    At the West:

Lovely One, guide my emotions: Let them be healing and touched
    always by you.

    At the North:

Sweet Goddess, let my mind always be fertile and storng, that I may
    grow always toward you.

Return to the East to complete the circle and say:

Queen of Heaven, I thank you for your presence, both now and always.
My love and devotion are yours. Blessed be!

All spirits who have joined me tonight may depart, with my love.
    Return to your proper places.

Walk again around your circle, but this time counterclockwise, extin-
guishing the quadrant guards as you go, and at the same time, mentally
erasing the white line which surrounded your circle. When the candles
are out and the circle gone, rap on your altar and say:

    The rite is ended.

      FULL MOON RITUALS

The moon is a powerful tool to use in Witchcraft. Each phase of the moon has its own power, and if we perform spells or rituals to coincide with the phase of the moon, our magick will be stronger.

After erecting circle at esbat but before cookies and wine, kneel with hands held high:

      When the moon rides high
      as she crosses the sky
and the stars on her gown trail behind
      then we wiccan below
      are all aglow
just to see her so brightly enshrined.

On the night of the moon
as I sing to the tune
of the Lady who watches above
      I raise high my song
as she glides by so strong
and I bask in the light of her light.
      Rhythmic chant
      Isis, Astarte, Diana, Hecate,
      Demeter, Kali, Inanna
      (Repeat as often as wanted)
Lovely Lady, you have been known by so many people. Aphrodite, Territory, Diana, Ea, Freyja, Gana Isis and so many more have been your names. It is with these names do I adore and worship you with your Lord by your side, do I give you due honour and invite you to join me on this, your special night.
      Sit and meditate
Descend my Lady; descend I pray thee and speak with me, your child.
Meditate; if you do not feel the spirit, do the following:

I am she who watches over thee. Mother of you all. Know that I rejoice that you do not forget me. To pay homage at the full of the moon is meet and right and brings joy unto yourself, even as it does me. Know that, with my good Lord, I weave the skein of life for everyone. I am at the beginning of life and at its end: The Maiden, The Mother, The Crone.

Where ever you may be, if you seek me know that I am always here for I abide deep within you. Look, then, within yourself if you would seek me. I am Life and I am Love. Find me and rejoice, for love is my music and laughter is my song. Be true to me and I will ever be true to you. Love is the law and love is the bond.

      So Mote it Be!

        Ritual for a Full Moon

This is a rite that can be performed by one person or by several people who are used to working closely together and who are comfortable working with each other. The set up is simple and there isn't any need for fancy clothes or for an altar that has more than a few simple items that most of us have around.

        Suggested items for the Altar:

A small table with a white or silver cloth to cover it.

Three candles, one white, one black, and one blue for healing.

An incense holder with rose or sage incense on it.

A small mirror to catch the reflection of the Full Moon.

A deck of Tarot Cards, for reading in the circle

A small vase with one flower in it to represent the Mother.
When the moon is at its fullest gather those who would like to work together and set comfortably at the altar table with your hands lightly touching. Take a few deep breaths and clear your thoughts. Let the Mother be welcomed into the circle by each person who is attending.

State what work that needs to be done and ask for the members in the circle to address themselves to things that need to be done this night. Pull three cards for each person at the table and have the person to their right read these cards for this person. In this manner you will receive readings that are very fresh and that have a lot of truth for them.

When the time is right and all the work has been done close the circle and end the nights work. Share a glass of wine and some cakes to honor the Lord and the Lady of the Circle.

Keep the night's work fresh in your mind by keeping a working record each time and that way you can go back to it to keep track of the work you have done and when. Each rite usually has a theme to the general work and this changes as needed. Be flexible and let yourself enjoy the experience. Leave room for spontaneity invite someone to work with you and share what things you do.

Plan a quiet time to share coffee and cake or anything you might like, in order to allow a flow of conversation about the work that has been done. Find out how each person felt during the work and if they might like to change something the next time. If you are working with a structured group that allows a change in the person who is crafting the main power for the ceremony, try taking turns for each person to lead. It is a learning experience believe me.

          Solitary Moon Rite
          Ellen Reed, Coven of Sothistar

This rite may be used for either New or Full Moon. The difference is in your meditation and mental attitude in preparation. Remember that the New Moon is a time of outward work and thought, building to the peak which is the Full Moon. At the Full Moon, you should be preparing to lessen the outward flow of energy, bit by bit, until the period before New Moon, during which you are passive, building a pool of energy within you, in preparation for the New Moon.

The altar should be placed in the center of the ritual area. On it should be placed a rose or stick of incense on the eastern side, a red votive candle to the South, a cup of water on the West, and a bowl of salt or living plant on the North.

Around your ritual area, you should place an unlighted candle at the cardinal point of each direction.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To begin your rite, enter your darkened temple, carrying one burning candle, white or lavender, with you. Place it on the center of your altar, sit, and meditate on the meaning of the rite. When you feel the time is right, stand, and go to the eastern point, carrying with you the burning taper. Light the votive at the eastern point and go to the southern, picturing, as you do, an arc of pure strong light curving from one candle to the next. Continue to the West, and then to the North, lighting the candles as you go, and then walk to your eastern candle again, having formed a circle of protective light surrounding the area in which you worship.

Return to the center of the circle, replace the candle on the altar, and say:

My Lady of the Moon, who is called Diana, Artemis, Levanah, Isis and by any other names,
I come to you to bring you my love and my devotion.
May you grant me the joy of your presence.
Mentally divide the room into four quadrants by visualizing a line of silvery moonlight from the southeast to the northwest, and from the northeast to the southwest. Go the East, taking with you the rose or incense. Say:

Sweet Goddess, the gentle breeze is the touch of your loving hand,
the wind of storm a reminder of your strength.
The sound of the trees in the wind is your voice,
and the fragrance of flowers borne on the wind is your gift of beauty.
Place the rose next to the votive candle, then stand there as you picture the quadrant filling with moonlight. See the moonlight streaming quietly and gently into the room, filling the quadrant from center point to the edge of your circle.

When this is complete, take the red candle to the South. Place the gift and see the quadrant fill with moonlight. Say:

          Most loved Lady, the light of the candle is a guide along our path leading to you;
its warmth the reassurance of your presence and your love.
The light of the Sun is the knowledge you impart to us,
driving out ignorance and those things which can survive only in darkness.
          At the West:

Lovely One, the quiet pool is the serenity of your being.
The vast sea where life began on this planet
          is the vast sea of your being whence all life came;
its waves are the ebb and flow of the universe you rule.
          At the North:

Goddess of all, the fertility of the earth is a sign of your fertility, whence all life
rose. The solidity and permanence are still of it are still less than yours.
The earth's fertility feeds our bodies, and your fertility feeds our souls.

Go to the center of your temple, which is now filled with moonlight.

Everything in the circle is touched by it, blessed by it, including you. Sit down and feel this moonlight around you. Know that it is the Goddess. Realize that you are in the center of a sphere of light that is half above and half above and half below where you sit. Begin to breathe slowly and evenly, deep breaths that penetrate your whole body. When this rhythmic breathing becomes natural, imagine that the moonlight by which you are surrounded enters you, fills you entirely.

With each exhalation of your breath, some of the essence of yourself leaves your body, and with each inhalation, the light enters you. You are being filled ever so gently with this beautiful light. This light, which is the presence, the being of the Goddess, is within you as well as without. With each breath, you are less yourself and more the Goddess.

When you are filled with light, filled with the Goddess, the shell of your body fades away. You have no body; there is nothing to separate you from the entire being of the Goddess. Nothing exists but the being of which you are apart. You have ceased to be a separate entity. You are nothing and everything. All that was, that is, and all that will be, you are.

Enjoy this feeling as long as you like. When you feel it is time, picture the outer shell of your physical body reforming, becoming solid again. It is being built out of the Universe of which you are a part.

Now, as you continue your slow deep breathing, see the moonlight flowing out of your body, as gently and slowly as it entered. As it flows out, realize there is a difference. Because you have become one with the Goddess, with the Universe, your being has changed. As the moonlight flows out of your body, it takes with it a part of that which was yourself, now part of the Goddess, and leaves behind a part of the Goddess, forever now part of you. You become yourself again, solid as you were, but changed. You are surrounded by the presence of the Goddess, which now contains a part of yourself .

Move again to the East. As you speak, and after, picture the moonlight in that quadrant flowing back to its source, leaving that quadrant as it was.

Do this at each quadrant, until all the moonlight has returned to the Moon.

          At the East:

          My Lady, guide my thoughts.
Let them lead always closer to you.
          At the South:

          Gracious Goddess, guide my actions.
Let them always help and never harm others or myself.
          At the West:

          Lovely One, guide my emotions:
Let them be healing and touched always by you.
          At the North:

Sweet Goddess, let my mind always be fertile and strong,
that I may grow always toward you.
Return to the East to complete the circle and say:

Queen of Heaven, I thank you for your presence,
both now and always. My love and devotion are yours. Blessed be!
All spirits who have joined me tonight may depart, with my love. Return to your proper places.

Walk again around your circle, but this time counterclockwise, extinguishing the quadrant guards as you go, and at the same time, mentally erasing the white line which surrounded your circle. When the candles are out and the circle gone, rap on your altar and say:

          The rite is ended.

            A Working Full Moon Ritual

Cleanse, build, and consecrate the Circle area
            Position and build the Altar
Include small slips of paper, a cauldron for burning, a quill pen and dragon’s blood ink
            Light the Goddess Candle
            Call to Circle
            Challenge

Call the Quarters and cast the Circle.

At completion, HPS moves to altar and says:

The circle is cast. Feel how the energies have changed. We are between the worlds, now. This is a time that is no time; a place that is no place. Blessed be.
            HPS gives the Goddess Invocation

            HP gives God Invocation

            Ritual Work

            HPS says:

The Charge of the Goddess says, Whenever you have need of anything, once in the month, and better it be when the moon is full, then ye shall assemble in some secret place and adore the spirit of me, who am Queen of all Witcheries.

The Moon is full, and we are assembled here to ____________ (state in detail a need of a group member, absent or present, and why magickal intervention is needed and appropriate).

Each of us will write a wish as we would have it done for ____________ (name of person). Always remember the Rede and the Law of Three.

After all have written, we will release the wishes into the universe by burning them.

Keep silence now and enter into a time of meditation and consider your wish for __________ (name of person).
When all have finished meditating and writing, each person should offer the wish to each quarter (with appropriate wording of her/his choice), starting with East and moving deosil. Then move to the altar and light the paper from the Goddess Candle and drop it in the cauldron saying:

With this flame and smoke I release this wish to the winds of time, that my request be fulfilled. So Mote it Be.
Chant should continue until last person burns her/his wish. The chant should be about strengthening each person’s wish.

            Pause of silence

            Blessing of Cakes and Ale

            HPS says:

The cakes and the ale are outward symbols, sacraments, of our inward relationship with the Goddess and the God. With these small offerings, we honor both Goddess and God.

We of the Craft believe that our words and our actions shape reality. Tonight, we have called upon the power of Goddess and God to _____________ (re-state what and why we just did).

As we have willed it, so mote it be. Let us honor the gods and remember our tie to them.
            Sharing of Cakes and Ale

Give thanks to the Quarters and to the God and Goddess, open Circle as per usual.

              Burning Down the Year
              (Full Moon prior to Samhain)

Samhain being Wiccan New Year, I've developed a habit of getting all my ritual leftovers together after Mabon--candle ends, wax globs (Lady knows we've all got those :)), leftover bits of herbs, oils and incenses, the leftover salt from the North salt-dish, half-burned bits of smudge-stick, etc. I melt all that together and make one big fragrant, slightly lumpy candle. The wax is coarsely strained going into the mold, but there will still be a lot of little bits of stuff in the candle. The thickish, braided wick is wrapped deosil (so it will burn widdershins) with thread of any ugly or sad color.

At the last Full Moon observance before Samhain, I strip the altar down to its very simplest and clean it and everything on it well. The water of self-blessing is dipped and drunk directly from the cauldron, the place of change, rather than the chalice; the accompanying meditation is on assimilation of the year's changes, good and bad and in between, as sources of power. Then at the esbat's end, the cauldron is dried carefully and (unless the candle is in a glass jar) lined with foil so wax and stuff doesn't have to be dug out of it later with anything marked Black and Decker.

Finally, the candle is set in the cauldron, lit, and left on the altar. (In a dish of sand since I have cats and no fire insurance. :)) Every night untill it is gone or until two nights before Samhain, whichever comes first, I will spend some time meditating with the candle. (If it is not large, I may snuff it out and re-light it for each session.)

Everything in it, all the little bits of herb and salt and ash and feather and clay, all the scents and blended candle-colors, carry memories of the past year: its events, its rituals, its magicks and moods and times good and bad. Some will hiss and pop and announce themselves, some will slip away quietly. I will let go of each memory as it surfaces, glad that some are going, accepting some without emotion and having to grieve others. I will do all this thoroughly, maintaining conscious contact with the Lord and Lady as I do. (It can be quite a conversation, let me tell you. :))

As the binding burns off the wick, I will picture my own true self, my own core light, coming clear of any old habits, attitudes or circumstances that have bound or constricted it in the past year, and will pray that something I do in the coming year will provide some sort of light for a fellow human being to find a step or two of h/er way by.

If there is unburned candle or unburnable residue two days before Samhain, I will throw it in the river or bury it under a large rock, away from home in a place nobody walks, thanking the water or earth. I will then walk away and let go of it, spending no energy on trying to remember (or forget) where I put it.

This has allowed me to approach the New Year with a lot more peace and a lot less unfinished business than I used to. If you try it, I hope it helps you too; take what you like and leave or restructure the rest.
  • EVERLASTING YOUTH AND BEAUTY SPELL

VERVAIN: For everlasting youth, this spell must be performed when the moon is full.. Go outdoors and light one black candle. Take a chalice of water to which you add salt, and two spoonsful of Vervain. Mix thoroughly and dip into this water a piece of petrified wood. Pass the rock through the flame of the candle and chant:

    "Candle, herb, rock, water, salt,
Hear me as my song is sung,
Age is not my hearts desire,
It is youth to which I aspire,
    Candle, herb, rock, water, salt."

Repeat the ritual and chant seven times. As each chant is said, touch the rock in turn to first one foot, one hand, one shoulder, crown of the head, and then down the other side of the body to shoulder, hand and foot. When the spell is finished, take the rock immediately to the nearest river, beach or stream and throw it in..

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    MIRROR SPELL
On a full moon, take a mirror and go outside (if ya can't then open a window, make sure the moon is reflected on the mirror ) take a piece of a picture (hair, lips, eyes, whatever you are interested in changing) place it on the mirror and concentrate on it and say:

Moonshine, Starlight, let the wind carry your light, let your glow cover my body, and let your shine cover every eye.

Say it 3 times and concentrate on the part that you want to change, Then say:

Moonshine, Starlight, shape, and mold my body, as a rose is granted beauty, let me blossom in your light, the light that brings me beauty, and grant me beauty three times three.

Say it 3 times and when you are finished light a candle (pink) or incense.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    You will need the following:

    1 rose quartz
    six rose petals
    a bottle of witch hazel
Look at yout face in a mirror and all of its flaws. Visualize your face changing into the face you want and desire. Rub the rose quartz lightly over the problem areas and say the following:

Stone of Beauty, Stone of Love,
    Erase imperfection as I rub,
Bring to me the face I see,
As I will so mote it be!!!

Open then the bottle of witch hazel and insert the rose quartz. Take the six rose petals in your right hand and say:

    Venus, One of beauty rare,
I offer you these petals fair.
    Bless them with your loveliness
and bring the beauty I request.

Rub the petals over any line, wrinkle imperfection ect then drop them in the witch hazel. Cap the bottle tightly and give it six good shakes a day for a week. At the end of the week, use it everyday as a toner after face washing. As you apply it say:

    Imperfections, go away.
Beauty of Venus, come forth this day.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    TO KEEP BEAUTY FROM FADING
When all your face appears most fair,
When the comets and meteors gild your hair,
And in your eyes the moon and sun
Contest, surrender, and burn as one,
When ivory Venus smoothes your brow,
And Mars recurves your lips' red bow,
Make haste to utter this binding verse
And hold the stars on their kindest course:

    Figure of fire,
    That shift and change,
    Planets that move
    By heaven's hinge,
    Be siged and fixed
    Forever here,
    And close my image
    Wthin thy sphere.

Measure a yard of golden string, Loose from your fingers let it swing, Then tie it in thirteen sturdy knots, Hide it among your scents and pots.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    SPELL TO LOOK MAGNIFICENT
    apples
    snow peas
    avocado
    cherries
(note: for romance: red apple; for a job interview or to make others envious, a green apple; in the arts or to make an impression in public; gold apple)

Cut an apple in half horizontally and you should see the star. Visualize yourself glowing like a star. Eat half the apple, and give the rest of it as an offering, outdoors under a tree. Peel the skin off the avocado. Imagine your negative traits peeling off of you, including any negativity your mind has towards any part of yourself. Slice the fruit into 7 pieces, and remove the pit. Mash the slices into a paste, and use as a face mask. Visualize all your blemishes disappearing. Now take seven snow peas in your right hand, and 7 cherries in your left. Eat them alternately. Left hand rules the subconcious, unseen world, and the right hand rules the concious seen world, thus you are making yourself beautiful inside and out. Do this 1-3 days before you intend to strut your stuff. :)

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    FOR BEAUTY AND YOUTH
    rosemary and sunflower oils
paper and fountainpen with red ink
    sprig of rosemary
    glass of springwater
Dilute five drops of rosemary into one oz. of sunflower oil. Massage into hair. Close eyes and inhale the scent. Write name on paper with red ink, then dip sprig of rosemary into spring water and chant:

"Dew of the sea, enhance my charms, bring love and friendship into my arms."

Place paper in spring water, and remove when ink is faded. Wash the oil out of hair, using the spring water as the final rinse. Wear the sprig of rosemary for the rest of the day. Use this whenever you feel the need.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    SPELLS FOR LONGEVITY
    dried apricots
    apples
    sunflower seeds
    pears
    olives
    beets
Work apricots into your diet. Dried apricots and apricot juice can be affective in preventing premature heart attacks, raising vital mineral levels, and blocking formations of certain cancers. Antioxidants in olives can help prevent cancer. The rest of the foods are helpful in evoking long, healthy lives. Count out 120 sunflower seeds, and eat them at sunrise. When you eat pears or olives, imagine yourself endowed with the longevity of the trees that bore the fruit. See yourself as the tree, and visualize dropping seeds. This way you bless not only yourself, but your offspring to a long life. Rub olive or apricot oil into an apple, bite it, and visualize yourself as healthy into old age. Drink beet and apple juice, and visualize them revitalizing every cell in your body.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    YOUTHFUL WATER
Each night put a fresh glass of water on your nightstand, hold your hands palms down over the glass to charge the water, saying:

"Youth and vibrant health into this water flows. I command it!"

When you wake up in the morning, drink the water, every drop. Keep doing this, and watch the changes that occur from this simple ritual.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    A CHARM FOR ETERNAL YOUTH
Go to a grove of pines, when the moon is new, and in the earth beneath their boughs inscribe a circle, wide as you are tall. Lie down within it, your arms extended to meet the circle's rim, and saying these words:

    The ancient pine
    Is evergreen
    The crescent moon
    May never wane
    The circle bound
    Is ever round
    And so my life
    As light and leaf

Pluck three needles of pine from a green branch, take them home, and wind them tightly round about with a hair from your head and a long green thread. Keep this charm beside your bed, that you may dream of eternity, and each night before you sleep, repeat the words that have conjured youth from the enchanted grove. Ever after, you should wear some token of green-jade, emerald, or other stone, ornament, or article of clothing-in honor of this fair spell now threaded through your life.
    • NOVEMBER 8 2006 WEDNESDAY

      Wed, November 8, 2006 - 8:00 AM
      Easing Your Labor Spell
      Incense of the day: Peony

There are many folk remedies for easing or speeding along labor, especially when delivery is proving long or difficult. One of the most popular methods is to remove all fastenings and ties by using a form of sympathetic magic. If you can stand it, let your hair flow loosely about your shoulders. Remove any jewelry you might still be wearing. Other women in the room, if in a position to do so, can follow suit, offering further encouragement to the baby. Folks in the medieval period believed that an emerald tied about a woman's thigh helped speed labor. For those of you who don't have an emerald handy, an onyx will also work. Try using one as a focal point during your breathing to help you relax and move your labor forward.
      • WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 8 - WANING MOON

        Wed, November 8, 2006 - 8:11 AM
        Waning Moon Spell

Before the New Moon, it is wise to finish up old business and let go of any lingering encumbrances. As Luna's energy wanes, perform an egg spell to draw the negative out of your life. This spell is especially appropriate for relationship or self-esteem issues. After dark, gather a black candle, an egg, a magic marker, and clove of garlic. Light the candle, and visualize a circle of safety surrounding you. Hold the egg in your dominant hand, and focus on what you need to get rid of. Holding the marker in your non- dominant hand, write upon the egg the words or symbols that convey your intention. Infuse the egg with your projection. Bury the egg beneath a thorn bush along with a garlic clove.
        • Re: THURSDAY NOVEMBER 9 - TREE WISDOM SPELL

          Thu, November 9, 2006 - 9:15 AM
          Tree Wisdom Spell
          Incense of the day:
          Eucalyptus:
Eucalyptus spp.) Perhaps the ultimate healing oil. The Eucalyptus genus comprises over 500 species of aromatic trees and shrubs with deciduous bark. The most common species, Tasmanian Blue Gum (Eucalyptus globulus) has a blue-gray trunk, blue-green juvenile leaves, green adult leaves, and white flower stamens. Eucalyptus leaves, scented of balsamic camphor, are used by aboriginals to bind wounds; the flower nectar gives honey; and the oil, distilled from the leaves and twigs, is used in medicines, Aromatherapy, and perfumes. Eucalyptus oil is antiseptic, expectorant, and anti-viral, treats pulmonary tuberculosis, lowers blood sugar levels, and is useful for burns, catarrh and flu. The roots of Eucalyptus trees secrete a poisonous chemical, inhibiting the growth of nearby plants.
Parts Used: Leaf, twigs, wood, sap and essential oil
Magical Uses: Add to all healing blends. Apply (undiluted) to the body to relieve colds. Also used in purification mixtures. For protection, carry the leaves.
Aromatherapy Uses: Blue Gum: Burns; Blisters; Cuts; Herpes; Insect Bites; Lice; Skin Infections; Wounds; Muscular Aches and Pains; Poor Circulation; Rheumatoid Arthritis, Sprains; Asthma; Bronchitis; Catarrh; Cough; Sinusitis; Throat Infections; Chicken Pox; Colds; Epidemics; Flu; Measles; Cystitis; Leukorrhea; Nervous Debility; Headaches; Neuralgia; Insect Repellent. Key Qualities: Stimulating; Refreshing; Clearing; Purifying; Balsamic; Regulating.

          CONTINUING ON TO SPELL...
To the ancient Celts, the hazel tree and hazelnuts were symbolic of divine wisdom. Hazel trees often grow near water, which was also associated with knowledge, wisdom, healing, purification, and transformation. In Ireland, the Well of Wisdom was described as existing in the otherworld. It was surrounded by nine purple hazel trees. The trees dropped their nuts into the water, and the Salmon of Wisdom ate the nuts. Five streams flowed from the well, and these symbolized the five senses through which wisdom could be obtained. Chant this invocation to connect with the power of the sacred hazel trees and Well of Wisdom:

          I seek to join you,
Fountain of knowledge, Wellspring of lore.
          As a seawave flowing,
And the nine wells of Mannan'n mac Lir,
The gods guide the pathway I follow.
          • FRIDAY NOVEMBER 10 - GOOD HABITS SPELL

            Fri, November 10, 2006 - 7:15 AM
            Good Habits Spell

This spell works like a charm to get rid of any habits like smoking or niggling worries.

Set an empty cup on a table in front of a white candle.

Light some sandalwood incense and the candle and stand near the table as you pick up the cup in both hands and hold it high over the candle and incense. Breathe slowly and evenly for a moment until you are calm and centered. Then, hold the cup near your chest and slowly blow air into the cup, silently naming each bad habit and negative energy you wish removed from your life. When finished, turn the cup upside down onto the table, saying
            firmly,

‘The contents of this vessel, I give up to thee, Lords of Light, Exchange these bad habits for positive actions.’

Finish by blowing out the candle and incense and saying, ‘It shall be done, O Blessed Be.’

*Start up an enchanted diary by finding a new notebook and writing on the cover, "My wonderful life".
Each day, write down at least one positive thing that happened to you during the day. It can be anything that makes you feel good, like ‘I saw a gorgeous sunset’, ‘I had a productive day at work’ or ‘A young
            child smiled at me’.

Read through the pages each week to keep yourself inspired and motivated.
*One of the most magical times to begin a new health regime is at the beginning of a waning or diminishing moon (When the moon is moving from full back to new). This will give a special boost to your bid for a fitter and healthier body.
            • Let Prosperity Flow Spell
              Incense of the day: Chrysanthemum

Prosperity spells are among the most popular of all spells. Still, many people complain
when the spells don't work quickly enough. Here are some magical tips to get your prosperity spells
              to work more quickly:

Start small. Ask for tiny amounts of abundance first.
Be realistic. Don't ask for a house and expect it to happen today.
Don't repeat a spell too often. Doing this creates negativity that can slow things.
Ask for your spell to manifest with perfect timing.
Trust the divine power to manifest the spell wisely.
Ask for "just enough" prosperity to come to you.
Be sure your prosperity magic will harm no one.
After you cast the spell, visualize your request flowing down a stream or waterfall to completion.
              • TUESDAY NOVEMBER 14-COMFORT FOOD SPELL

                Tue, November 14, 2006 - 4:23 PM
                Comfort Food Spell
                Incense of the day: Lavender

We all have foods that we think of as special, and that make us feel better when we are sick or the weather is bad. Nothing warms me faster than a bowl of hot soup on a cold winter day. We can weave a magic around such comfort foods. If you or someone you love has a cold, some hot broth or hot tea will make them feel warm or keep them from dehydrating, even if they don’t feel like eating or drinking much. Chicken soup is always a favorite. Cold evenings also cry out for a cup of hot cocoa. Top it with cinnamon or whipped cream for a touch of special magic. Share comfort foods with your family that will weave a spell of warmth against the growing cold.
            • WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 15 - RAISING ENERGY SPELL

              Wed, November 15, 2006 - 8:28 AM
              Raising Energy Spell
              Incense of the day: Poplar

This is the time in Inuit tradition of the Asking festival. In the spirit of this tradition, find a drum or a rattle now. Make a sacred circle with white candles or white objects of power such as carved stones, statues, and the like, and stand in the middle. Slowly beat the drum or shake the rattle, breathing in and out and visualizing the energy flowing from the beat. Feel the strength raise as you drum or shake faster and faster. When it has reached the zenith do one final crash and raise your arms, shouting "Yes!" as loudly as you can. Feel the surge of power come through you now. Slowly bring the energy down and ground by touching your head to the floor. The energy is now there and the power is part of you. When you need it, simply ask.
              • Honoring St. Expedite Spell

                Wed, November 15, 2006 - 9:36 PM
                Incense of the day: Lavender

My favorite saint is St. Expedite, who is especially popular in New Orleans. St. Expedite is the one to invoke when you need help in a hurry. His day is Thursday, his color is yellow, and he is magically associated with the raven. Of course, if you keep getting into trouble and need help out of it because you refuse to learn from your mistakes, you will simply find the karmic return coming quicker and quicker each time you blow it. Ask for intervention from St. Expedite only when you've earned it. I like to keep a yellow jar candle with St. Expedite's image pasted on to it. When I need help, I light the candle, explain the situation, and ask him to guide me to the solution. If I want to give the energy an extra boost, I burn a magenta candle along with the yellow. I extinguish the candle at the end of the conversation, and I let the magenta candle burn out. Once I receive the assistance, I light the yellow candle again and say thank you. Then, I look for a way to pay it forward by performing a kindness for a stranger. It could be as simple as helping a mother get her stroller up the subway stairs or helping someone across the street. The important thing is that the help is genuine, and it is offered freely and without any expectations. I see something that needs to be done, I do it, and I continue on, without asking for anything in return. This keeps the energy flowing.
                • Relighting the Inner Flame Spell

                  Wed, November 15, 2006 - 11:38 PM
                  November 16th, 2006

                  Color of the day: Turquoise
                  Incense of the day: Evergreen

Today marks the Dewali, the festival of lights celebrating the Hindu New Year. This event, coupled with the Witches’ New Year at Samhain, makes now a good time to refocus and relight your inner flame. Create an altar to the element of fire. It should have lots of candles, preferably colored red or orange. Burn incenses like dragon’s blood, cinnamon, ginger, damiana, rosemary, or dill. Place pictures of fire creatures like salamanders, iguanas, or chameleons next to the candles. Use any symbol, like a Sun or a hearth, that connects with fire. Add images of fire deities, like Pele. Light the candles and say: “Inner flame burn bright, never lose your light.” Feel yourself become hot and your inner fire burn. Know that it is always lit.

Magick is all about visualization and then using your helpers - deity, candles, tools, moon, sun, colors, herbs, incense, time of day, the day, planets, ect... and the tools help you visualize the Magick better. Magick power is within you. You first have to believe that you WILL make it happen and then you have to visualize the power and then the exact thing you want. Once you get all the visualization down then you can successfully work on spells in your favor. I do not know what you use for your visualization nor who you pull powers from. I can only give you correspondances and guides but you have to do the work and the visual aspects of your power.

When you want to do a spell, there are planning and cleansing that has to come first. You need to plan for a successful spell. You want a good paying job in a kitchen. That would go under money, job, buisness, and you also want to thow in, understanding, courage, or anything else you can think of that would help you seek and retain a job. You have to visualize from beginning to end how you want the whole thing to go, from when you wake up in the morning, till the handshake goodbye and you have the job and you are going home. Then you can base what description you want to correspond with the spell to have your tools for them. It must be personal. but here is an outline that i jotted together for you, but please remember, you must do your visualization first, then plan, then when you are ready to work, you need to have all your candles, tools, herbs, deity info, blessing oils to dress your candles for the spell, charge your candles, use symbols of your choice for burning and inscribing, what offering u will use for the chosen deity, ect.. then you must cleanse your inner space and outer space, ground yourself, call on elements and deity, use music or not, then visualize your power, visualize your magickal sphere, then visualize it all from beginning to end, then releasing it. close the ceremony. Here is the correspondents I put together for you:

                      Great Lady of Magic,
goddess of magic, fertility, nature, motherhood,
underworld Mistress of the House of Life,

Green is the best candle for employment, Growth, prosperity, money, fertility, and harmony

Bless your candles with your own blessing oil, or the oils for Thursday and for employment, money, and prosperity. That would be cinnimon which deals with prosperity...oakmoss and nutmeg is best because it deals with money, and personal prosperity as well as correspond with Jupiter for Thursday.

Herbs you can put in your blessing oil and burn on charcoal for added magick and the best for your spell would be the same as I said for oils.

The time of day is most important as well as the moon phase.
The best moon phase to do your spell would be the New Moon because that is the time that is used for personal growth, healing, the blessing of a new project or venture. Also the blue Moon, also known as the Goal Moon, the period when the Full Moon appears twice within the same calendar month. It is here where you set specific long-term goals for yourself. So it is up to you which one would be better for you. As for the time of day best for your spell, if you do it on the Thursday, then sunrise, 2pm, and 9pm is the best time. Any other questions, please ask!

                    Braid Spell for Change

                    Fri, November 17, 2006 - 11:24 AM
                    November 17th, 2006

                    Color of the day: Rose
                    Incense of the day: Sandalwood

What would you like to change in your life? Your love interest, your affluence level, your career, or a bad habit? Buy three lengths of cord in a color that symbolizes for you the element you’d like to change. As you braid the cord, speak to it of your frustrations. Cry over it, tie knots in it, infuse it with your unhappiness. Holding this cord, say:

                    Unravel cursed threads,
So I can wind a better way.
Old ways are now in shreds,
                    A better life begins today.

Turn in a widdershins direction. After chanting, dig a hole in the earth and bury the cord.
                    • Magic of Darkness Meditation

                      Sun, November 19, 2006 - 11:55 AM
                      November 19th, 2006

                      Color of the day: Orange
                      Incense of the day: Clove

There is magic in the darkness if only we can allay our fears of it. It is only the unknown we fear and once we understand that mystery is revealed in the dark, we can relax and find the enchantment of the place. To do this, after sunset today find a place that will be in darkness when the lights are off. Light some patchouli incense to promote deep awareness. Tone a single note to yourself, and settle down into a meditative state. Turn out the lights and close your eyes. Continue to intone softly and breathe deeply. Open your eyes in the darkness. Do not strain to see. Extend the awareness of your psychic senses outward and feel the texture of the night. Breathe deeply and rest in the darkness. Let the messages come to you as you rest in the deepest dark. When you are finished, go back to a ordinary state of consciousness and to your normal activities.
                      • NEW MOON SPELLS AND RITUALS/NEW BEGINNINGS CEREMONY

                        Mon, November 20, 2006 - 12:53 PM
REMEMBER THESE ARE TAKEN FROM MYSELF AND OTHERS WHO ALREADY HAVE PERFOMED THESE RITUALS OR SPELLS. EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT. IT IS BETTER TO NOT USE SOMEONE ELSE'S SPELLS WORD FOR WORD BUT AS A GUIDE TO DEVELOP YOUR OWN AND WHAT FEELS GOOD TO YOU!

                        New Beginnings Ceremony
The new moon is my favorite of all the moon phases. Perhaps it is the dark side of the moon concept of unseen forces that intrigues me. This is not to say that the beauty of the full moon doesn't take my breath away...it does. I can say that I have never howled at a full moon, but people have been known to get a bit crazed during a full moon, just ask your local bar keep or the night nurse working the midnight shift at the trauma center.

In choosing the moon as a topic in healing I would suggest a simple new moon ceremony to manifest your desires, your wishes, healing, and well-being into your life. Any intentions stated or written down carries power, so be clear on what it is you would like to create in your life. The saying, be careful what you ask for, you might get it is fair warning in moving forward with a new moon intention ritual.
Once you have set your new moon intention, it need not be set in stone. The moon has its phases and so do our individual wants and needs. This is why it is a good practice to rededicate your list of intentions each month. Changes can also be made mid-cycle, but I have found them not to be as powerful. I am a member of an online discussion list whose members participates in a group new moon intention each month. The power of the group dynamic of this has proved to have postive changes for all of us.

                        New Moon Manifestation Preparation

Check the calendar for the next upcoming new moon.
Set aside 20-30 minutes to do the ritual itself.
Supply suggestions: 2 Notebooks, colored pens, scissors, scotch tape, candle, matches, incense, smudge sticks, flower essences, etc.
Prepare yourself a sacred space to perform the ceremony at.
Setting your New Moon Intentions in Motion

Cleanse your sacred area with an opening prayer, a sage smudging, and/or by burning some incense.
                        Light one or more candles.
Center your being and calm yourself in whatever way is appropriate for you. You might enjoy sipping on a cup of chamomile or mint tea. I also have a special blend of flower essences that I use specifically for manifesting rituals that works well enough.
Open your notebook, and date it. Write down these words or similar words. "I accept these things into my life now or something better for my highest good and for the highest good of all concerned." Below this statement, begin writing down your desires. Your list may consist of only one item or you may have several pages written down. Try not to limit yourself. If having many things in your life helps to fulfill you then don't deny yourself wanting these things.
During the month when an item on your new moon list comes to you, don't merely cross it off of your list, take the time to rewrite the list in its entirety eliminating the manifested item from the listing. This is highly recommended. At the same time you may add whatever else that you have decided you would like. Feel free to reword any of the original phrases if they better fit your life now. It is only natural that your desires change over days/weeks/ months/years.
The second notebook will be used as a manifestation scrapbook where you paste in pictures or catalog clippings of items that you want to manifest. This is a fun project so enjoy yourself. You will soon be amazed how these things begin to find their way into your life once you start this practice. I pasted a photo of a spa in my scrapbook and manifested it in just a few months time.
                        Rededicating your New Moon Intentions

Each month at the new moon you rededicate your intentions by renewing the list at a repeated ritual. This is accomplished by rewriting them out, removing the items that no longer feed your soul and adding those that do. I like to salt and pepper my manifest list with smaller items that will manifest quickly, such as tickets to the ballet, or lunch with a friend, or a day of all play and no work. You may think that these are such small things that they don't apply or are not worth writing down. Wrong! Believing that these are things that we can easily acquire so its not really manifesting upsets the balance. Manifesting smaller items on our lists actually gives life to the list. These smaller manifestations create movement.....an ebb and flow of the tides. We are dealing here with the moon cycles after all. Besides, sometimes we forget to enjoy the smaller pleasures in our lives while we are waiting for the BIG stuff to come in. If you only write statements like, "I want to win the lottery" in your notebook then you are limiting yourself by not allowing abundance to flow to you from other avenues.
                        • JUNGIAN NEW MOON RITUAL

                          Mon, November 20, 2006 - 12:55 PM
A new moon ritual with some Jungian and Craft themes follows:

Participant: We are surrounded by and permeated with a universe of
consciousness and awareness. As the island raises itself up and
separates itself from the ocean, and as the ego raises itself up and
separates itself from the sub-conscious, likewise so do we hereby with
this circle separate ourselves from our immediate surroundings and our
mudane states of awareness. (Walks deosil three times in a circle to
                          cast the circle.)

Participant: Each individual relates to and interacts with the world
around him through the four Jungian powers or functions. We empower
each function within our circle to enable us to interact with the
archetypes and energies around us. Likewise we invoke the direction
                          that corresponds with each function.

(Faces east:) Function of Thinking, Direction of East, Elemental
Archetype of Airy Sylph, we bless thee and welcome your powers of Clear
Thinking and Judgment into our circle this night.

(Faces south:) Function of Feeling, Direction of South, Elemental
Archetype of Fiery Salamander, we bless thee and welcome your powers of
Fiery Passion and Emotion into our circle this night.

(Faces west:) Function of Intuition, Direction of West, Elemental
Archetype of Watery Undine, we bless thee and welcome your powers of the
soul's inner knowing into our circle this night.

(Faces north:) Function of Sensation, Direction of North, Elemental
Archetype of Earthly Gnome, we bless thee and welcome your powers of
Pure Sensuality into our circle this night.

(Faces upward:) We call upon the the Lover and the Beloved, the God and
the Goddess, the highest positive animus and the highest positive anima
to complete the feminine and masculine elements in our circle this
night. In addition, we honor and regard the memory and presence of Carl
Gustav Jung. May his ideas continue to enlighten us.

Participant: This night is the night of the new moon -- a time of
spiritual retreat, rest, and recovery. We use the energies of this time
to draw within ourselves to strengthen our inner Unity, our inner
wholeness. Similarly we use these energies to strengthen, harmonize,
and balance the Many within ourselves -- the different inner archetypes
which often compete against each other. I will now lead us in a guided
imagery session that will help put us in touch with both the One and
the Many within us. (Play ocean sounds on a tape player. Read guided
meditation -- beach scene from William Fezler's _Guided_Imagery_):
Take a few moments to relax and to take some deep breaths. Every
sensation that you've ever experienced is recorded forever. You have
the ability to relive those sensations as vividly as the first time you
experienced them. You are now going to take a 3D sensory voyage. You
are going to construct a scene in your mind's eye so vivid it will be as
                          if you are actually there.
                          You are walking along the beach. It's mid July; very, very hot;
five o'clock in the afternoon. The sun is getting low on the horizon,
although it has not yet begun to set. The sky is a brilliant blue, the
sun a blazing yellow. Feel the heat from the sun against your face,
feel the warmth of its rays against your skin.
You are barefoot. Feel the hot, dry sand beneath your feet. Walk
closer to the water. Feel the wet, cold, firmly packed sand beneath
                          your feet.
Hear the beating of the waves, the rhythmic crashing back and
forth, to and fro, of the water against the sand. Hear the loud, high
cries of the gulls circling overhead. You continue walking.
Suddenly you come to a sand dune, a mound of white sand covered
with deep pink moss roses, bright yellow buttercups. You sit on the
mound of sand, you look out to the sea. The sea is like a mirror of
silver reflecting the sun's rays, a mass of pure white light.
You are gazing fixedly into that light. As you continue to stare
at the sun's reflections off the water, you begin to see dots of purple,
darting flecks of violet. There's a violet along the horizon, a purple
halo around the flowers; everywhere purple and silver.
Now the sun is beginning to set. With each motion, with each
movement of the sun into the sea, you go deeper and deeper relaxed...
And when the sun has sunk into the ocean, you will be in a profound
                          state of relaxation.
The sky is turning red, crimson, scarlet, gold, amber, as the sun
sets. The sun represents your ego sinking into the ocean -- the
awareness of your soul and subconscious mind. You are engulfed in a
deep purple twilight, a velvety blue haze. You look up at the night
sky, it is clear, filled with stars... A brilliant starry night...
The soft, low roar of the waves, the taste and the smell of the salt.
The sea, the sky, and you. And you feel yourself carried upward and
outward into space, at one with the universe.
You can now come out of your meditative state.

Participant: As the ocean constantly sculpts the landscape of an
island, so does the subconscious and the surroundings constantly sculpt
the ego. As an island may be submerged and re-exposed by the sea over
many millenia, so is the ego constantly born, killed, and resurrected in
a new form. Listen to the wise words of the Craft. Read the Legend of
                          the "Descent of the Goddess":

Throught the waxing and waning light of the sun and moon, the
flowing of day and night, we see the changing forms and faces of the
Great Mother in our world. But, in the night sky, as the moon fades
from sight for three days and three nights, our lady also withdraws
from the world and descends where the living cannot go.
For when our God disappears within the dark womb of the earth,
through the passage of horns, she follows in secret and arrives at the
gates beyond which the living cannot pass. The guardian of the portal
challenges her with his sword, "Remove thy jewels, lay down thy
garments, for naught may ye bring into this our world!" She removed her
garments and jewels, and was bound as one of the dead who enter death's
realm. Even beyond the realm of day and night, her beauty was as
dazzling as the stars and moon in the sky. The horned one of shadows
taken with her radiance, knelt at her feet, kissing them as he said,
"Blessed be thy feet that have brought thee in these ways. Leave me
not; abide with me always, and let me put my cold hand upon thy heart!"
But she answered, "I love thee not, why doest thou cause all
things I love and delight in to fade and die?"
"Lady" he said, "tis age and fate against which I am helpless.
Age causes all things to wither; but when they die at the end of time,
I give them rest and peace and strength so that they may return; but
you, you are my heart's desire. Return not, and abide with me."
"I love thee not," she answered.
"As you receive not my hand on thy heart, you must receive death's
                          scourge."
"It is fate, better so, " and she knelt. Death scourged her, and
she cried, "I know the pangs of love!" The horned one gave her the
five-fold kiss, saying, "thus only may you attain to self-knowledge."
                          For three days and three nights she remained in the land of death;
the moon in the night sky did not shine; all the world was thrown into
darkness. And in the powers of night, beyond the eyes of mortals did
they enact the rites of love that sustained the world. Finally, she
took up his crown of death and it became a necklace of acorns which she
placed around her neck saying, "behold -- the circle of rebirth.
Although all passes through you out of life, all passes through me to
be reborn. All must die; all must fade; but even thou are not eternal.
I am the dark womb of earth, I am the primal mystery of life. Behold,
for within me is the cauldron of rebirth; enter into me; know me, and
you will be free from all fear for as life has become a journey into
death, through my grace death shall be a journey into life. Into me the
                          circle shall ever turn."
Through love, he entered into her, and was reborn into life; this
is the greatest of all magicks. And this magick, this union and passion
between the Lord of Death and the Goddess of Life, controls all events
on earth; birth, love, and death. For to fulfill love you must return
again at the same time and the same place as your loved one and you must
remember and love them again. But to be reborn, you must die and be
ready for a new body, and to die you must be born; and without love you
may not be born; and this is the secret of all magick!

and merry meet again. May the love of the Goddess go ever in our
                          hearts.

Circle is cast by the priestess...

Priestess: INVOCATION TO THE HINDU GODDESSES OF THE FOUR DIRECTIONS

In the East we call in Ushas, Goddess of the Dawn, to begin this new cycle
and help us see through our illusions and seek the truth.

In the South we call in Parvati to bring us the fires of purification so we
                            may be cleansed.

In the West we invoke Durga to teach us to look into the dark places in our
beings to that we may not be afraid.

In the North we call in Sarasvati to bring us the wisdom of India, her
music and dance, so we may be wise in the traditions of the Goddess.

And now, we call in Kali-Ma, Dark Mother and Goddess, Creatress of all there
                            is...

                            INVOCATION TO THE NEW MOON

                            Greetings to you, New Moon,
                            Kindly jewel of guidance!
I bend my knees to you,
                            I offer you my love,

I bend my knees to you,
I raise my hands to you,
I lift my eye to you,
                            New Moon of the seasons!

                            Greetings to you New Moon,
                            Darling of my love,
                            Greetings to you New Moon,
                            Darling of the Graces,

                            You journey on your course,
                            You steer the flood-tides,
You lift up your face for us,
                            New Moon of the seasons!

                            Queen of Guidance,
                            Queen of Good Luck,
                            Queen of my love,
                            New Moon of the seasons!
                            (-Ed Fitch)

The New Moon is when we remember the black Hindu Goddess, Kali. Although
she is known for her ferocity, she is also recognized for her motherly
qualities. While the Full Moon is a time of manifestation of desires, the
New Moon is a time of removal of negativity in our lives. Let's contemplate
the negative influences in our lives and visualize Kali cutting away the
negativity with her mighty swords. Meditate on this image for a few moments.
As you do this, I will annoint your Third Eye with musk oil -- the sacred oil
of Kali. Pay special attention to the smell of the incense --
Sandalwood -- the sacred incense of this Hindu Goddess.

                            KALI POEM by Ramprasad Sen

Wht is Mother Kali so radiantly black?
                            Because she is so powerful.
even mentioning her name destroys delusion.
                            Because she is so beautiful,
                            Lord Shiva, conqueror of Death,
                            lies blissfully vanquished
                            beneath her red-soled feet.
There are subtle hues of blackness,
                            but her bright complexion
is the mystery tht is utterly black,
                            overwhelmingly black, wonderfully black.
When she awakens in the lotus shrine
                            within the heart’s secret cave,
her blackness becomes the mystic illumination
that causes the twelve-petal blossom there
to glow more intensely than golden embres.

Her lovely form is the incomparable Kali-black,
blacker than the Kind of Death.
Whoever gazes upon this radiant blackness
                            falls eternally in love
and feels no attraction to any other,
                            discovering everywhere only her.

                            This poets sighs deeply:
                            “Where is this brilliant Lady,
                            This Black Ligh beyond luminosity?
Tough I have never seen her,
                            Simply hearing her name
                            the mind becomes absorbed completely
                            in her astonishing reality.
Om Kali! Om Kali! Om Kali!

The New Moon also represents a dark time, a time of spiritual rest, a time
of planting new seeds to incubate and grow as the moon grows towards
fullness. Spend a few moments in this stillness thinking about what
seeds or desires or goals you wish to sow this evening.

Sarasvati, Goddess of the North, we bless thee and release thee.
Durga, Goddess of the West, we bless thee and release thee.
Parvati, Goddess of the South, we bless thee and release thee.
Ushas, Goddess of the East, we bless thee and release thee.

The circle is open yet unbroken, may the love of the Goddess go in our hearts.
Merry meet, merry part, and may we merry meet again.

The New Moon in Scorpio occurs just as we are about to leave this particular Sun sign. What have you learned about your own darkness in these last weeks? This Plutonian sign holds knowledge, magic, and power, but here is also found intensity, passion and sometimes even a recognition of our own cruelty. Sit in the darkness, by the light of a single candle, and ask yourself: What part of yourself are you afraid for the world to see? How do you respond to this fear?
Do you put up walls or attempt to impose your will on others? To change the world around you, you have to change yourself first. But that change won’t happen when you are ruled self-ignorance, fear, or anger. It will come only when you know and understand even those parts of yourself you would rather hide. We all have dark urges, the real test of character is how we choose to act on them. We must first acknowledge these impulses or we will unconsciously act out on them. Wrap yourself in a warm, cozy blanket surrounded by pillows, and talk to the dark place in your soul. Envision it curled up in your arms, and express your love. Not that you love the negative urges, but that you love the dark spot regardless of the negative side. Say you understand the fear and hurt that often underlies this. Promise yourself that you will be a good parent to your dark side—giving it protection and acceptance, while not allowing it to be harmful to others.

In the United States, today is the day before Thanksgiving. Often, as we prepare for holidays, there is a great deal of stress. We wonder: “How will I ever get it all done—the cooking, the cleaning, the preparations?” In the midst of your busy preholiday busyness, take just a few moments for a quick calming spell. Have handy some lavender essential oil, diluted with a carrier oil. Pour
a few drops into your palms. Sniff, then sniff again. Take the oil and massage some into your hands. Pay attention to the webs between fingers, particularly between your index finger and thumb. Massage your feet in a like manner. Then, massage some oil into the back of your neck. As you massage yourself, say: “I banish tension, stress, and worry. I attract calm, peace, and serenity.”

                                Holiday Stress-Busting Spell

                                Color of the day: Coral
                                Incense of the day: Ylang-ylang

Yesterday was Thanksgiving. The holiday rush is on now. To avoid getting stressed out this holiday season, perform this spell as needed. Light a pale blue candle and run a bath scented with lavender. Take the phone off the hook or shut off the cell phone. Draw the blinds. Say to yourself: “This is your time.” As you soak, visualize your holiday tasks diminishing. Instead of worrying about cooking for everyone, decide here and now to have each guest bring a dish. Instead of visiting everyone on your list on or before Christmas, plan visits between Christmas and New Year’s Day. Spreading out holiday events is a pleasant way to extend the spirit of the holidays and reduce stress at the same time. Finish your bath knowing that this year you won’t spread yourself too thin.

As cold weather approached in olden times, stores of wood and fuel were gathered to keep the tribe warm during winter months. Fallen branches and logs were taken first, supplemented by other branches for which thanks were offered to the spirits. It was therefore important to know what kind of wood burned well, which could be burned wet to give instant warmth, and which had to be dried before use. An intimate knowledge of trees and the properties of their wood was important in both a practical and spiritual sense. Here is an old Scottish rhyme about which types of wood should be gathered and revered:

                                  Choose the willow of the streams;
                                  Choose the hazel of the rocks;
                                  Choose the alder of the marshes;
Choose the birch of the waterfalls.
                                  Choose the ash of the shade;
                                  Choose the yew of resilience;
Choose the elm of the brae:
Choose the oak of the Sun.

                                    Sun, November 26, 2006 - 7:12 PM
                                    Incense of the day: Basil

At the start of the holidays, it is easy to feel overwhelmed by just a glance at your to do list. Take a few minutes to organize yourself. Sit down with your planner or calendar, your gift lists, some extra paper, and a pen. Light a yellow candle and some rosemary incense, saying: "Lord and Lady, help me to clear my mind and organize myself so that I can enjoy the season more." Now, make a list of everything you have to do and what presents to buy. Take that list and break it up into smaller, manageable steps. Now, take those tasks and examine them. How much time will it take to achieve each goal? Be honest. Find ways to save time. When you are ready, plot your tasks on a planner or calendar. Know you will have enough time to finish them and enjoy the holidays.

                                    • HERMES AND APHRODITE CELEBRATION SPELL

                                      Tue, November 28, 2006 - 12:58 AM
                                      Incense of the day: Frankincense

In ancient Greece, people celebrated the feast of Hermes and Aphrodite. Rather than focusing on romantic or physical love, this holiday emphasizes partnership. It honors the divine masculine and the divine feminine coexisting in harmony. On a more subtle level, it suggests the interdependence of mind and heart, intellect and emotion. Today, pay attention to your interactions with the opposite sex. Be open to opportunities for showing partnership and cooperation. Women may begin the day with this verse:

                                      Aphrodite,
                                      Goddess bright,
                                      Rising from the brine.
Let my brothers turn to me.
Let me be their guiding light.

Men may begin the day with this:

                                      Hermes,
                                      Lord of speed and sky,
                                      Skimming through the air.
Let my sisters hear my prayer.
Let me guard them as they fly.
Remember to look for the Goddess in each woman, the God in each man.

                                        Tue, November 28, 2006 - 7:26 AM
                                        Color of the day: Black
                                        Incense of the day: Juniper

Black is the color most commonly associated with protection. The use of black stones, black candles, and black clothes are associated with protection spells. I like keeping a piece of irradiated smoky quartz near my front door to keep out any unwelcome intruders. Plant holy thistle (Silybum marinanum L.) around the house to turn away thieves. This herb is most commonly found in California, but in cooler climates, plant it in a large container out in front of your house. This will also prevent it from going wild all over your property. Sprinkle betony at doors and windows for some extra protection. Burn fiddleheads, or uncurled fern fronds, indoors as a smudge for a strong wall of protection.

                                        • HECETE CROSSROADS SPELL

                                          Thu, November 30, 2006 - 11:36 AM
                                          Incense of the day: Coriander

As we travel we are all faced with choices. Hecate is the Goddess of the Crossroads. Go to her if you need to make a decision in matters having to do with travel or life opportunities. Take three apples and go to a crossroads that is not busy with traffic, ideally at night. Cut each in half so the pentacle formed of the seeds is showing. Thinking of your choices, place one-half of an apple at each intersection. Then make your wish and place the last two halves where the roads join. Ask for Hecate's help in making your decision. Go home and eat an apple or drink an apple beverage before bed. Dream of possibilities. Save the seeds to plant in the crossroads area next spring, and ask again for Hecate's blessings.

                                          • THE LESSER BANISHING RITUAL

                                            Sun, December 3, 2006 - 7:51 PM
The practice of the Lesser Banishing Ritual is something commonly discussed in magical circles. There is not much information on its true origin, although it is utilized widely in Western Magick. We know that it has been around in some form since the nineteenth century, popularized by the Golden Dawn order.

I offer a version of it here because it is a 'good' practice, no matter what your religion or magical belief. Some may say the LBR is a focused meditation, and beneficial in centering oneself. Some agree that it creates a sacred and protected space upon the Astral Plane from which the magician can perform magick and safely communicate with entities. I believe it open doors. It is healing and soothing while being simultaneously empowering. It also promotes a still mind, free of outside influences which is a useful aid in meditation. If it really does provide protection on the astral than all the better! In my experience it can be helpful in shielding noise - both audible and psychic - allowing one to truly relax and sleep.

This ritual can be done loudly or silently. It can be done without movement - visualizing the movement of light tracing the necessary lines. While the preferred method is to intone the words (chanted or sung) or sacred names, whispering them can be just as effective.

This LBRP is divided into three parts.

Begin by taking three deep breaths. Let each out slowly. Yoga breathing techniques are great to employ before beginning. You want to allow tension and outside distractions to fade. Bring your mind to a meditative state.

PART ONE - The Qabbalistic Cross
The first exercise, the Qabbalistic Cross may be performed in a second, at any moment of crisis, during trance, or during a pause in a larger group ritual, to strengthen, make secure, and concentrate one's consciousness. It effectively activates the heart chakra, making it an appropriate background exercise for healing and self healing, for achieving inspiration, and for all other 'heart' practices. It fills the aura with the cleansing light of the Higher Self, which protects one from psychic dangers without fighting.

Stand facing East. Feet shoulder width apart.

                                            - Touch forehead with first two (or index) fingers of right hand and visualizing a sphere of white light at that point, vibrate: AH-TAY( Ateh translates roughly - Unto Thee in Hebrew)
                                            - Lower hand to solar plexus (middle of chest) and visualize a line extending down to your feet, vibrate: MAL-KOOTH (Malkuth means 'the Kingdom')
                                            - Raise hand and touch right shoulder visualizing a sphere of light there. Vibrate: VAY-GEH-BOO-RAH (Ve Geburah means 'and the power')
                                            - Extend the hand across the chest tracing a line of light and touch the left shoulder where another sphere of light forms. Vibrate: VAY-GEH-DOO-LAH (Ve Gedulah means 'and the glory')
                                            - Clasp hands in center of chest at crossing point of horizontal and vertical lines of light. Vibrate: LAY-OH-LAHM (Le Olam is 'for ever - amen')

PART TWO - Drawing the Pentagram
Facing east, take either the first two fingers of your right hand extended together (universal athame) or a dagger, trace a large pentagram with the point up, starting at your left hip, up to just above your forehead, centered on your body, then down to your right hip, up and to your left shoulder, across to the right shoulder and down to the starting point in front of your left hip. Stab you fingers or dagger into the center and vibrate: YOHD-HAY-VAVJ-HAY (YHVH or Yahweh is the tetragrammaton translated as Jehovah)

Turn to the south. Trace a line from the east pentagram to the south. Make a pentagram while facing South, except vibrate: AH-DOH-NAI-EE (another name for god translated as Lord)

Turn to the West, tracing your line from south to west. Trace a Pentagram but vibrate: AY-HAY-EE-AY (Eheieh is more or less - another name of God translated as I AM or I AM THAT I AM Or "I will be" )

Turn to the North, again tracing the line from west to north. Make another Pentagram but vibrate: AH-GAH-LAH-AAH (Agla - a composite of Atah Gibor le olam Amen )

Return again to the east, tracing the line from North to East. Stab the fingers or dagger back again into the same spot as in step .

You should now visualize that you are surrounded by four flaming pentagrams connected by a line of fire. [Note: Some people say to visualize blue other say only white and I have seen others say yellow. This is up to you.]

Extend your arms out to your sides, forming a cross.

Vibrate (visualizing each Archangel standing guard at each station):

                                            - Before me RAAF-AYE-EL (Rapheal)
                                            - Behind me GAB-RYE-EL(Gabriel)
                                            - On my right hand, MIKH-AYE-EL (Michael)
                                            - On my left hand, AUR-AYE-EL (Auriel)

PART THREE: Final Qabbalistic Cross and Visualization
[Note: This last section is very difficult. It requires three visualizations to occur at once: 1.) The pentagrams you made which are hanging in space and connected by a thin thread. 2.) A star of David hanging above your head. 3.) Through your body, shaped and directed by your hands and arms, a lemniscate(better known as the infinity sign). All of this is occurring while you say the next phrase. Take your time, stabilize your energy and wait until you get there. It takes practice and patience!]

Say: For about me flames the Pentagrams, and in the column stands the six-rayed star. (Alternatively the last two lines can be: Before me flames the pentagram, behind me shines the six-rayed star)

Repeat the Qabbalistic Cross (Part One). Visualize Raphael is in the East, Gabriel in the West, Michael in the South and Auriel/Uriel in the North. . You may end the exercise with an "Amen" to seal it.

(Before I do the Qabbalisitic Cross again, ^ I am visualizing everything while concentrating on my intentions also. I do not do the last cross until I am completely finished and also I released my power back into the Earth.)

This last cross is very powerful, as it is performed in sacred spaceThe LBRPs should be allowed to dissipate naturally. They do not need to be "taken down" Nor do you need to cut entry or exit into the space like a Sacred Circle.

                                                Incense of the day: Neroli

Years ago Witch balls hung in the windows of many homes. These were glass balls similar to the gazing balls you see today in many gardens. The purpose of these balls was to repel the evil eye. Here's how you can make your own. Purchase clear glass or plastic Christmas ornaments from a craft store, along with bottles of liquid gold and silver metallic craft paints. You can also purchase other colors of paint—it's up to you. Next, remove the wire loop at the top of the ornament. Squeeze small amounts of the paint on to the ornament, in pleasing combinations of colors. Swirl the ornament around, so the paints blend and coat the interior of the ornament. Leave it to dry overnight. On the next day, replace the wire loops at the top of the ornament and charge it with your magical intent. Hang it with a pretty cord in your window or on a holiday tree. The pattern made by the paints will trap and hold any negative energy.

Ancient people gathered as much food as possible so it would last them throughout the long winter months. Hearty food was often served in Celtic countries in the winter. This included oatmeal with butter and milk, soft cheeses, root vegetables, nuts and berries, bread, and dried or salted fish and meat. In later times, pasties or pastry pies were served. These consisted of baked dough toasted around a meat, fish, or vegetable filling. These were so popular that it was said the devil would not come to Cornwall for fear of being put into a pie! Here is a recipe for traditional pies to share at your winter rites and ceremonies. Combine one pound of flour with a half pound of butter, three eggs, and hot water. Roll out the dough on a board three times. Then cut it into six-inch circles, place the filling in the center of the circles, and fold them over to make a half moon shapes. Cook at 350 degrees until they are golden.

                                                      and obsidian;
                                                      a pinch of dried thyme;
                                                      rose thorns;
                                                      patchouli oil;
and a red or white candle.
Carve the protection symbol of your choice into the candle, and anoint it with oil. Combine the stones, herbs, and thorns, and wrap them in the cloth. Visualize being enclosed in a protective shield of white light as you prepare the amulet. Light the candle, and place the amulet nearby. Focus on the energy of the burning candle, and infuse the amulet with power. Allow the candle to burn completely, and carry the amulet with you for protection. Speak this charm when you need extra protection:

                                                      Mars, breathe your fire
                                                      into these stones and herbs.

                                                        Incense of the day: Evergreen

This time of the year can be rather hectic with socializing and family gatherings and so on. It's easy now to lose or misplace an item. Use Mercury's energies of clear thinking today for a spell to help you find your lost item. To do this you will need a mirror and a small magnet, two candles—one black, representing loss, and one orange, representing memory—and some patchouli incense. Set up the candles in front of the mirror, and place the magnet in the middle of the mirror. Walk around the room clockwise with the lit incense three times, saying:

                                                        I invite the elements
                                                        As I walk around
                                                        To help my lost item
                                                        Be soon found.

Touch the magnet as you recall when you last saw the item. While the candles are burning, try to find it.

Today is the birthday of the prophet Nostradamus. In honor of him, perform a divination. Place a dark cloth on a table. Have a finger bowl of water on the table. Get out your favorite divination tool. Light a few candles, and turn out the lights. Rinse your fingers in the bowl, and say: "I wash myself of all confusion and distractions. I cleanse myself from selfishness. I come with pure intent."

Hold your divination tool over one of the candles, saying: "O spirit of prophecy, today grant me clear vision. Let me see clearly through the veils. Give me strength to accept the truth and wisdom to make choices based on my vision." Perform your divination. At last hold your divination tool over a candle, and say: "Thanks, O spirit, for the insights you have given."

        • SEASON OF QUIET SPELL

          Tue, December 19, 2006 - 6:47 AM
          Incense of the day: Peony

Winter is the season of introspection and wisdom. Its cold, quiet days (Well, not so cold where I live, lol) give us a chance to rest after the spring and summer seasons of growth and expansion. Now we may meditate on chances taken, lessons learned, and other subtle changes. This is a perfect time for scrying. For this spell, you will need three candles—one each of black, white, and blue—a black bowl, and some snow or ice. (For us floridians, we must use ice from our freezer) Fill the bowl with snow or pieces of ice. Light the candles and set the bowl in front of them, saying:

          Light and water,
          Son and daughter,
          Dancing in winter's glow;
          Ice and fire,
          Grant desire.
Show me what I would know.

Watch for images in the flicker of candlelight on the melting ice. Pay attention to the symbolism of the shapes you see. When the bowl's contents have melted completely, blow out the candles and pour the water outside.

            Wed, December 26, 2007 - 5:54 AM
With Ritual - on a Friday. This is not a spell to attract a specific person, it is intended to attract a person who will be compatible. You will need a teaspoon or so each of the following herbs:
            Basil herb,
            Cardamom pods,
            Marjoram herb,
            whole Cloves,
            Rose petals,
            a Tonka bean.

If you cannot easily obtain the Tonka bean you may do without it. You will need some
            red, natural fiber,
fabric - a quarter yard will be enough,
            a needle and thread.
Cut two squares out of the fabric.
A small piece of rose quartz and/or lepidolite is an optional, but desirable ingredient.
Place your materials on the altar.
You should have a love incense and if possible, a piece of rose quartz on the altar for this spell.

After the circle is cast and the love incense lit, place the two squares of fabric, right sides together, and sew around three sides of the square. As you are doing this, visualize yourself as a lovable and loving person, in a relationship that is fulfilling and happy. When you are done sewing, place the squares on the altar and state the purpose of the spell aloud in your own words. Something like: "I seek to have a love in my life, someone special with whom to share the wonders of life, to grow with and learn with, someone to know well and be known by, my ideal partner."

Take up the fabric square and turn it right side out. Spoon the herbs into the bag one at a time saying aloud the appropriate line as you add each one:
            "Basil, sacred herb of Mars,
I call upon your powers to bring to me the love I seek.

            Cardamom, sacred herb of Venus,
I call upon your powers to bring to me the love I seek.

            Marjoram, sacred herb of Mercury,
I call upon your powers to bring to me the love I seek.

            Cloves, sacred herb of Jupiter,
I call upon your powers to bring to me the love I seek.

            Rose, sacred herb of Venus,
I call upon your powers to bring to me the love I seek.

Tonka, sacred herb of Venus, I call upon your powers to bring to me the love I seek."

If you are using the rose quartz say the following as you add it to the bag:

"Rose Quartz, stone of peace and love,
I call upon you lend your powers to my quest,
assist me in finding the love I seek,
open my heart that I may be ready to love
and open my eyes that I may see it for what it is."

Take up the needle and thread and sew up the last side of the bag. As you do so, visualize the fruition of the spell, you are in a loving relationship of two equals that is fulfilling and happy. When you finish, form the vision as clearly as possible in your mind, feel the love surrounding you and wrapping you in a pink mist, sense the warmth. Holding the bag in your projective hand (the one you write with), visualize and feel the energy in the form of the pink mist flowing from you into the bag. As you will the energy into it, say:

"I invest this amulet of love with the power of my vision,
the power of Venus and Aphrodite,
the power of the herbs (and crystal) within it.
It will bring me the love I desire and make me ready to receive it.
As I will, so mote it be!"
            It is done.
Dismiss the circle and carry the amulet bag with you at all times.
