AS OF NOVEMBER 7....

Welcome to the avant-garde version of Mercury retrograde where daily life feels more like a tea party in Wonderland than a slo-mo rewind retrospective on the past. It's a perfect planetary time warp -- the past is creating worm holes into the present, the future is simultaneously erupting with dazzling brilliance, and the clash between the two is generating an intense distortion that makes it hard to recognize what's come before or what lies ahead. Confusing? You bet. Hard to hold onto any perspective at all? Yes, again. Don't be dismayed if you're discombobulated and late for important and unimportant dates. Also don't be distressed if you show up early -- days early -- for regularly scheduled appointments. Navigating the last ten days, as well as the next ten days without losing sight of the horizon takes skill, and even the most conscious among us are certain to need a map.

Fortunately, we have the stars to guide us and even though they are sending mixed messages, their individual signals are clear. The most important bit of information is there are five planets in Scorpio -- Mars, the Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Jupiter. Scorpio, the sign of survival, is also the sign of transformation, and this current concentration bodes well for an alchemical approach to any area of your life in need of renewal. Just be aware, true transformation tends to require a death and rebirth. So if you want to lose weight, you're gonna have to give up cookies.

The second celestial chart reveals Uranus, catalyst of change in a positive alignment with Mars, the Sun, and Mercury. This combination has a decidedly martial signature, so be prepared for a militaristic mindset, personal or collective. But even if you or your boss starts barking commands don't expect anyone to listen. Uranus doesn't take orders -- ever -- and that translates into unilateral stands for independence. Be patient with your two-year old if she or he insists on saying "no" to everything. And then, be just as patient with the twenty-two, thirty-two, forty-two, and fifty-two year old mimicking the same stubborn pattern. Also keep in mind, sometimes it's healthy and necessary to say "no" loudly and proudly.

A third map plots a trine between Pluto and Saturn, a positive configuration that also packs military might that is likely to be channeled into had work. Endurance is a key characteristic of this alliance, but the power of this trine needs to be used wisely or it will tilt toward rationalizing the use of harsh labor for the greater good. Remember, the means never justify the ends -- they are the ends.

Unifying these various forces and then trying to contain their combined power under Mercury retrograde is a task for a super hero. So rather than spending your energy pushing the river, relax and let it carry you. And remember, we're all floatin' downstream together, so when possible be kind to your fellow travelers.

  • PLANET SCOPE FOR NOVEMBER 10 FRIDAY...

    Thu, November 9, 2006 - 7:44 AM
    Pluto in Sagittarius
    Nov 10, 1995 to Jan 25, 2008

Pluto is the planet of transformation. It is a tiny distant body, invisible to the naked eye. Yet, Pluto is incredibly powerful, a force for total transformation. The presence of Pluto in Sagittarius may express itself through religious (Sag) extremism (Pluto). Passions about absolute (Pluto) truth (Sag) can lead to destructive acts and a lack of tolerance for differences.

Both Pluto and Sagittarius can go to extremes. While we think of Sagittarius as good-hearted, it is capable of painting with a broad brush that refuses to see different points of view. Prejudice, therefore, can be a negative expression of this cycle. However, if handled in a positive manner, religious transformation may occur. The divisions of faith that have cost millions of lives in human history could become artifacts of the past. We may learn to look beyond the superficial differences between us to find common elements of belief that can lead humanity into the next century.

On a personal level this transit is about examining the very depths of our beliefs. Each of us may be challenged to question our concepts about life and its meaning. Pluto forces us to strip away the superficial and come face to face with the essence of an issue. Sagittarius has a great deal to do with our hopes for the future, our expectations for tomorrow. Pluto’s role is to make sure that these are rooted in something vital, rather than pinned on the thinnest of desires. Pluto helps us become aware of the price to be paid. In this case it is the price of our beliefs. If we are going to evolve as individuals we can not do it on automatic pilot. The old slogans ring hollow in our ears. New truths must emerge for the future.

Transforming Pluto in the sign of travel presents new dangers and opportunities. Fear of terrorists and technological failures may keep many from visiting foreign lands, but ecotourism and high adventure trips are more than mere diversions—they're ways to change one's life.
    • ABOUT THIS POST...

      Thu, November 9, 2006 - 7:53 AM
Astrology and Planet Scope, describes the meaning of each planet according to the sign it's in at the present time. Astrologers call these transits. These interpretations provide insights into the general conditions in which we are all living. These pages are updated whenever a planet changes signs.
      The Planets
The continuing movement of the planets is the basis for astrology's understanding of life. Each planet, including the Sun and the Moon, has its own cycle. Measured from our vantage point on Earth, these cycles range from just 28 days for the Moon to over 240 years for distant Pluto.

The planets visible to the naked eye (Sun through Saturn) have been observed and recorded by astrologers for thousands of years. Their meanings have remained incredibly consistent, even among widely diverse cultures. Astrology's basic interpretation of Mars, for example, is still about assertion and initiative, even as the Warrior has replaced the sword with intellect as its weapon of choice.

Learning the characteristics of the planets is a useful way to expand your understanding of energy, particularly related to human behavior. Some of these qualities are part of our language already, such as "mercurial" to reflect the rapid changes of this fast moving planet. The Moon, planet of emotions, is "moody," while a sunny disposition reflects the radiant qualities of the Sun. Applying astrological language has the potential of providing perspective without judgment, and a clearer path to recognizing essential qualities in yourself and others.

      Planets in Signs
A planet's energies are colored by the sign of the zodiac through which it’s moving. This combination of planet and sign is one of astrology’s basic tools. It can be used to understand personal matters when calculated for an individual’s date of birth, or to understand the general trends, as used here. The term used to describe both of these is "transits."

The zodiac used by western astrologers is based on the seasons (the tropical zodiac), not the constellations (the sidereal zodiac). About 2000 years ago the two coincided, so that the Sun was in the constellation Aries on the first day of spring. However, due to the movement of the Earth's axis in a 26,000 year cycle, called precession, the signs and the seasons no longer coincide.

It seems appropriate that the West has adopted the dynamic seasonal zodiac, while the East adheres to the unchanging constellational model. Neither is inherently better the other, just as one language is no more correct than another. Each is coherent in its ability to reflect the human condition through the larger view of the solar system in which we live.

      Personal and Collective Cycles
This post, Planet Scope, informs you about general astrological conditions based on where the planets are now. These are not individual forecasts, but broad indicators of collective patterns that touch each of us differently. This information is useful to help understand trends and attitudes as reflected by public sentiment and in the the world of Magick as well as in the news. Awareness of the general mood can be a powerful tool for understanding the behavior you see around you every day, and in your Magick you use every day!
      • MOON IN CANCER DURING NOVEMBER 8 - 10

        Fri, November 10, 2006 - 10:04 AM
You might be a little sensitive during this Moon. Unfortunately, everyone else is too. If you find yourself in deep water now, look to your intuition to get you out. The real issues are often hidden on Cancer Moon days, or dealt with sideways. People tend to circle the emotional wagons, reach for their antacids, and privately nurse their wounds. The collective unconscious is four years old and wants its mommy. Go ahead, seek nurture today. It's like that children's story where the baby bird, tumbled from its nest, quizzes all comers, "Are you my mother?" Only you're looking for the World Mother. You'll find her in a cozy place where you feel safe and loved; in a cup of tea, a mid-day retreat to your bed or a smile from a friend. Whether or not you have issues, it's a good Moontime for sharpening your emotional intelligence. Distinguish foods that nourish (both real and symbolic) from those that bring heartburn.
        • SUN IN SCORPIO - OCTOBER 23 - NOVEMBER 22

          Fri, November 10, 2006 - 10:05 AM
          Signs are Seasons
Scorpio arrives with the falling leaves in the Northern Hemisphere. It is the middle sign of autumn, marking the deepening shift from light and warmth to a darker and cooler time of year. Some are saddened by these changes, reminded of their mortality and the ephemeral nature of life. Others, though, revel in exploring the inner side of human nature and understand that death is always followed by rebirth.

          Scorpion or Eagle

The symbol of the Scorpion is not a particularly attractive one. It is a poorly understood animal, best known for its capacity to sting and kill other creatures, and sometimes itself. For astrologers, though, Scorpio represents the possibility of a new world created out of the ashes of the old.

Scorpio is a fixed sign, meaning that it occupies the middle of a season. Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo and Aquarius are the others) do not change easily. Pressures can build, issues may need to be examined deeply before letting go. Scorpio is a water or feeling sign. (Cancer and Pisces are the other water signs.) Fixed water is about emotions that are profound and tend to dominate the personality. Scorpios, of course, can be reasonable, but the bottom line is that feeling is likely to be more important than thinking.

          Scorpio and Sex

Many people relate Scorpio to sex. It follows the relationship sign of Libra. In a sense, we meet in Libra and consummate the partnership in Scorpio. However, this sign is really about extremes in sexuality. Scorpio can be celibate or profligate depending on the time, the place and the individual. Some Scorpios are crude about sex like Larry Flynt or Roseanne, and others can delicately reveal eroticism through art like Georgia O'Keefe.

Scorpio deals with most of the "forbidden" subjects such as death, sex and power. Some of the difficulty we have with this sign is due to a failure to deal with these essential human issues in mature and open ways. Psychological sophistication, a Scorpio trait, is one way to meet these issues in a healthy manner.

          All or Nothing at All

A primary role of Scorpio is to push past the surface and get to the heart of the matter. Scorpio is about essence, not fluff. Sometimes this means that Scorpios seem distant when you want to be light and playful. They are not uncaring. In fact, they sometimes feel too much. Behind those intense eyes is a very sensitive person, one who knows what it's like to be hurt.

Scorpio often seems cautious until passion takes over, and then all limits are ignored. This is not a sign of half measures. It's usually all or nothing. Extremes of loyalty, commitment and intensity are balanced against cool detachment and apparent disinterest. If you want to play with these folks, bring all you've got. They won't settle for any less.

Scorpios are often intense, passionate or powerful people like Hillary Rodham Clinton, Demi Moore, Meg Ryan, Dennis Miller, Bill Gates, Julia Roberts, Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs or Ted Turner.
          • MERCURY IN SCORPIO - OCTOBER 1 - DECEMBER 7

            Fri, November 10, 2006 - 10:06 AM
This planet of communication gets down to the depths whenever it's in Scorpio. The mind melds with emotions, descending into the body, into the past and into life's mysteries. This can be a very powerful period for talking about difficult issues regarding relationships, money and mortality. Psychological awareness is more acute now, as perceptions take us under the covers of the obvious, seeking hidden meaning and motivations.

The dark side of Mercury in Scorpio is represented by the mistrusting mind, one that holds secrets and fears them at the same time. Communication becomes a means of control, rather than connection. However, seeing our fears doesn't mean that we have to perpetuate them. The opportunities are ripe for discussing heretofore forbidden subjects, resulting in greater degrees of trust and intimacy.

Deep thinkers born with Mercury in Scorpio include Deepak Chopra, Jodie Foster, Carl Sagan, Sylvia Plath and Hillary Rodham Clinton. Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon and John Lennon expressed their deep thoughts in songs.

Martin Scorcese's Mercury in Scorpio puts the lens on life's dark side, unlike Jesse Jackson, Prince Charles and John F. Kennedy Jr. Movie star Merc in Scorpios are Winona Ryder, Demi Moore and Richard Dreyfuss, while television brings us Suzanne Somers, Henry Winkler, Susan Lucci and Chris Noth.

Mercury in Scorpios Whoopi Goldberg and John Cleese make us laugh, while Bonnie Raitt and Luciano Pavarotti please our ears. Dr. Bernie Siegel teaches us how to face the fear of disease and transform ourselves through spiritual awareness. This reminds us how changing our perceptions changes our reality.
            • VENUS IN SCORPIO - OCTOBER 24 - NOVEMBER 17

              Fri, November 10, 2006 - 10:07 AM
Traditional astrology considers Scorpio to be a tough neighborhood for loving Venus, the planet of pretty and sweet. Scorpio, however, is not concerned with superficial good looks. It digs below the surface to touch fundamental human issues of power, fear, sex and desire. At this time, the evaluative properties of Venus may be directed beyond social niceties to reach into our deepest recesses and provoke needed change.

Venus and Scorpio share an interest in values. Part of the process, then, is to be more aware of what you get for what you give. Scorpio keeps score in relationships, albeit unconsciously for the most part. Jealousy is a possibility, but so is a level of emotional awareness that casts off illusion and gets to the heart of the matter. It may be necessary to exchange outer harmony for inner truth for relationships to grow and flourish.

Passions are likely to be more intense now. Likes and dislikes move beyond the containment of politeness and "correct" behavior. We are able to connect with gut feelings about what we need and don't need. One of the challenges is to trust our instincts, even if they push us to rock the relationship boat.

This may also be a good time to resurrect old projects, artistic interests and partnerships. If there is essential value to be found, Venus in Scorpio can help you get it. Outmoded desires can be shed or transformed so that pleasure, love and appreciation rise from the ashes.

Tenacity and focus are Venus in Scorpio qualities found in the charts of athletes Tiger Woods and Chris Evert. Rockers Keith Richards, Jim Morrison, Patti Smith and Neil Young were also born with this combination. The sexier side of Venus in Scorpio is apparent in Bette Midler's humor, several of Demi Moore's films and the porn of Larry Flynt and Bob Guccione.

Steven Speilberg, Martin Scorcese and Oliver Stone express their Venus in Scorpio passion by directing movies, while Leonardo DiCaprio, Winona Ryder, Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, Sigourney Weaver, Richard Dreyfuss and Goldie Hawn express theirs by acting in them.

Political Venus in Scorps include Hillary Rodham Clinton, Ed Koch, Jesse Jackson and Gore Vidal. The sign Scorpio's association with Pluto, the planet of extraordinary wealth, makes it no surprise to find Venus in Scorpio in the birth chart of Bill Gates.
              • MARS IN SCORPIO - OCTOBER 23 - DECEMBER 5

                Fri, November 10, 2006 - 10:08 AM
Mars is very much at home in Scorpio. According to traditional astrology, Mars is the ruler, or key planet, of Scorpio (and Aries, as well). It shares an affiinity with this sign, so it can work very efficiently here. Scorpio's about getting to the bottom of things so that they can be completely transformed. Warrior Mars is made to stimulate and provoke change.

There's intensity and passion during this cycle. Tenaciousness is common with action-oriented Mars in this fixed sign. The positive is the ability to persevere and work through difficult challenges. In fact, it's been said that Mars in Scorpio doesn't like doing things the easy way. Resistance (to a degree) is just another obstacle to test Mars' power here.

Fiery Mars in watery Scorpio has a less attractive feature that can be expressed as unrelenting aggressiveness or anger. This can be either overt or hidden, but will prolong conflicts and be destructive to relationships. The trick here is aiming carefully when selecting which walls you want to tear down. Taking on projects that require passion and intensity helps to direct Mars in Scorpio energy constructively.

Mars and Scorpio share a strong relationship with sexuality that can raise like to lust and transform nice into naughty. Of course, healthy sexuality not only encourages intimacy, but directs passion in a most delightful way.

Mars in Scorpio intensity and life-changing issues were part of the work of musicians Kurt Cobain, k.d. lang, Harry Chapin and Jimi Hendrix. World class athletes born with Mars in Scorpio include Reggie Miller, Scottie Pippen, Bobby Hull and Deion Sanders.

Sexual themes have been important for Mars in Scorpios Robert Mapplethorpe, Larry Flynt, Charlie Sheen, Margaret Trudeau and Chloe Sevigny. Dancing with death and life's shadowy issues has marked the lives of Carlos Castaneda, Martin Scorsese and Bruce Lee. Tragedy has played a prominent role in the lives of Robert and Caroline Kennedy, both born with Mars in Scorpio, but he with stereotypical intensity and she with apparent restraint.

Among the many powerful women born with Mars in Scorpio are Oprah Winfrey, Susan Sarandon, Geraldine Ferraro, Anne Bancroft, Princess Grace and Ursula Le Guin. Performers Leonardo DiCaprio, Mel Gibson, Isabella Rossellini, Jeremy Irons, Danny Devito, Jon Voight and Bill Cosby also have this combination in their charts. The positive healing properties of Mars in Scorpio have contributed greatly to the success of Deepak Chopra.
                • JUPITER IN SCORPIO - OCTOBER 25 - NOVEMBER 23

                  Fri, November 10, 2006 - 10:09 AM
Jupiter is the largest of all the true planets. Its mass is greater than all the rest of the planets combined. If it was only 20 percent larger it would develop enough heat at its core to become a star. Astrologically, Jupiter is the planet of expansion, growth and optimism. Known as The Greater Benefic, it symbolizes good luck and fortune. In the ancient Indian language Sanskrit, Jupiter is called "guru" or teacher. This fits its association with the higher mind, philosophy, truth and religion. Perhaps Jupiter's good fortune derives from the capacity to give us a larger view in which to see the world.

Outgoing Jupiter in inward-looking Scorpio makes for a complex combination. The normally optimistic outlook of the giant planet is tempered by a need to consider costs, including the possibility of loss and emotional complications arising from ambitious actions. There's a calculating quality, one that measures risks more carefully now. While this may temper the most grandiose hopes and dreams, it offers a dose of reality that can help to produce concrete results.

Jupiter expands, so while in Scorpio we can expect issues such as debt, sexuality, pollution and psychology to grow more prominent in the collective consciousness. Fears can be exaggerated during this period, as well, but some alarm might be necessary to provoke action in critical areas.

Scorpio is an intensely emotional sign that deals with intimacy and the exchange of deep feelings. Jupiter's presence offers a more generous assessment of these complex matters, allowing us to explore previously forbidden areas of behavior in a less judgmental manner.

Opportunity can arise out of situations of loss and benefits may be gained from objects and individuals that have been undervalued. This is a time to recover ambitions that have been set aside and reawaken interest in subjects that were abandoned long ago. Jupiter in Scorpio reminds us that we have untapped resources within ourselves and in the world that can be freed for use when we have the passion to pursue them. And while it's true that expanded desire can lead to dangerous situations, it is this intensity that can also clear away barriers to success.

Britney Spears, Prince William, Mark Wahlberg, Matt Damon, Andre Agassi, Uma Thurman, Queen Latifah, Tim Robbins, Sharon Stone, Stephen King, Arnold Schwarzegger, Carlos Santana, Glenn Close, Donald Sutherland, Manuel Noriega, Elvis Presley, Napoleon Bonaparte, Joan of Arc, Jules Verne, Richard Krafft-Ebbing, Albert Schweitzer and Alesiter Crowley are among those born with Jupiter in Scorpio.
                  • This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.

                    SATURN IN LEO - JULY 16, 2006 - SEPTEMBER 2, 2007

                    Fri, November 10, 2006 - 10:10 AM
Saturn is the last planet visible to the naked eye. For millennia, it represented the limits of the solar system and came to symbolize time, structure and order. Saturn takes about 29 years to orbit the Sun, spending about two and a half years in each sign of the zodiac.

Saturn is the planet that says "no" but means "yes." The no comes from Saturn showing us what isn't working, sometimes in the form of frustrating blockages or delays. But these help us see where we need to put in effort to make concrete changes. Saturn says "yes" as the planet of crystallization that brings energy into matter. Saturn's presence in a sign of the zodiac shows us where we are likely to meet limits and how to construct something useful.

Saturn in Leo is considered challenging by traditional astrologers. Since Saturn is the original ruler of the opposite sign Aquarius where its cool edge of reason fits so well, it is in detriment in Leo. (Saturn ruled both Capricorn and Aquarius until the discovery of Uranus, which has displaced Saturn as the modern ruler of Aquarius. Many astrologers use both the traditional and modern rulerships.) Theoretically, this suggests that the planet and sign don't get along well. We can understand the contrast between the warmth and personal expressiveness of Leo and Saturn's utilitarian approach to life. The planet chills the sign. But Saturn tends to put a damper on the energy wherever it is, yet rewards with concrete results for those willing to do the work.

The job of Saturn in Leo is building the courage to express our personalities. While the negative side of this potentially negative planet is to suppress the joyous impulses of this self-important sign, holding yourself back is not the point. The planet needs the power of the human heart, one person at a time, starting with you. Planning and building a framework for your creativity is a gift to all of us. Saturn provides the planning and training, Leo the talent and stage on which to present it. This passage through Leo is a chance to face the excesses and insufficiencies of ego, to temper them with training and direct personal power with creativity, generosity and love.

Among the many famous people born with Saturn in Leo are Ludwig Van Beethoven, Thomas Jefferson, Jean Jacques Rousseau, Alan Leo, Jim Thorpe, T.S. Eliot, Jean Cocteau, Leonard Bernstein, Billy Graham, J.D. Salinger, Jackie Robinson, Madalyn Murray O'Hair, Sir Edmund Hillary, Deepak Chopra, Steven Spielberg, David Bowie, Elton John, David Letterman, Camilla Parker Bowles, Carlos Santana, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Stephen King, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Al Gore, Cat Stevens, Billy Joel, Jessica Lange, Tiger Woods, and Stevie Nicks.

                    • URANUS IN PISCES - DECEMBER 30, 2003 - MAY 27, 2010

                      Fri, November 10, 2006 - 10:12 AM
Uranus takes its first step out Aquarius on March 10 and tests Pisces' waters until September 11 before finally leaving its home sign after a seven-year visit. Thus far, the universal peace and harmony we hoped for with Uranus in Aquarius has not won out, but the game is not yet over. The most obvious marks of the revolutionary planet's homecoming have been the global wiring of the Internet and mapping the human genome. So we have new access to information that has not yet been transformed from fact to wisdom. That, we can hope, will be a gift of Uranus in Pisces.

Pisces takes the airy, and often abstract, energy of Aquarius beyond the boundaries of the mind, allowing it to seep into the pores of our emotions. That which can only be visualized in Aquarius becomes embodied in Pisces. The external, technological Internet can become the internal, intuitive Innernet. This increased sensitivity makes compassion inevitable as hunger in Africa is felt in bellies in America.

Revolutionary Uranus in Pisces can accelerate spiritual changes by breaking down old faiths, perhaps revivifying them in radical forms, or contributing to totally new ways of expressing beliefs. Pisces is, paradoxically, the sign of everything (the last one of the zodiac, containing all the ones that came before) and nothing (experiences beyond ordinary comprehension). Answers, then, may come when we surrender the possibility of finding them in the usual terms. Truth is no longer a matter of debate between battling ideologies, it is direct experience not contained within the covers of any book or described in normal language.

Uranus brings chaos out of which new life is formed. Initially, we are threatened by the breakdown of the old order, and tend to seek familiar ways to reinstate its familiar boundaries. But the more rigidly we stick to the past, the more violently we are going to be shaken. Working with Uranus requires flexibility, a willingness to discover rather than a will to control. Such openness encourages a freedom to experiment that can spark a revolution in human consciousness. We can liberate ourselves from images of victimhood as individuals and nations exchanging attachment to their wounds for a realization of their purpose and, thus, their value. Pisces is, after all, the ultimate place where separate pieces are connected as part of the whole.

Uranus' 84-year tour of the zodiac that last started in Aries in 1927 is coming to an end. During the next seven years, Uranus in Pisces will flash images of the past before our eyes. We'll meet depression and war, technology as both terror and savior, humanistic hope and nationalistic fears. Each ripple in our collective waters can feel like an enormous tide of change, even when it is not. Panic spreads easily if we forget that reality is much more flexible than our perceptions lead us to believe. When we remember the spiritual truth that there is unity behind our apparent differences, discord can be reduced. We can find harmony is listening more and speaking less, humbly opening ourselves to be with one another, rather than trying to push each other away. Accepting the Uranian oddities in ourselves is the first act of tolerance that makes it possible to trust one another.
                      • Neptune, the planet of dreams, is only partially comfortable in Aquarius. Neptune appreciates the global view of this sign, but prefers direct experience to Aquarian theories. The down side of this can be distorted group values and collective hallucinations. The collective neural network is losing its boundaries as Neptune connects all the synapses, all the time. Sensory overload, too much CNN, Internet and cell phones makes it hard to find a quiet place to just be by yourself. It’s almost impossible to be alone, but all too easy to feel lonely.

Where is the individual? It's harder to be yourself as social forces press up against you and seem to limit your choices of action. In fact, the Internet's a place where fantasies flourish as bald 50 year old men represent themselves as youthful studs. Who knows who you're talking to online? Step back from the shore and take a breath to remember who you are.

Neptune of faith meets Aquarius of utopian idealism. A new religion of science and technology may emerge in the first decade of the new millennium. The problem is that spirit may get lost in the machine. We can become so full of concepts that we can’t find the feeling, the spiritual connection that makes us whole.

Neptunian illusion in Aquarius may manifest as charismatic leaders of blindly devoted followers. Check your body, use your basic instincts to verify if what you’re being told resonates within you. If it doesn’t descend from the head, then it’s not likely to lead to your liberation. Freedom is a key element of Aquarius, even though it’s sometimes lost amidst the utopian dogma. Never give up you right to choose and understand that an ideal world of the future is one in which individual rights are fully respected, rather than sacrificed.

Compassion (Neptune) for all of humanity (Aquarius) is a healthy expression of this symbolic pair. When you are able to love those who think differently than you, to accept many answers, rather than one holy truth, you are facilitating the healing of our planet. This, of course, is vital to your own personal healing and fulfillment. We are all in this together, even as we live life in our unique individual ways.
                        • Pluto is the planet of transformation.

                          • MOON IN VIRGO ON NOVEMBER 13 TILL NOVEMBER 15

                            Tue, November 14, 2006 - 10:42 AM
                            Moon in Virgo
                            Nov 13, 2006 to Nov 15, 2006
Caution this Moontime: you could get snared by a "Virgo moment." Stuck on a detail you can't abandon, compelled to argue small points with somebody who is as stuck as you. Or suddenly everything is a poorly organized file in need of drastic tidying. Most diabolical is the urge to tear yourself or somebody else apart with criticism. If you've gotten too busy with the little things, look to a bigger principle to lift you out. Or try the color purple. Visualize yourself in a bright field of purple wildflowers. Draw your imagination into the center of one flower and feel your kinship with it. Know that everything less than perfect is also holy. The intellect is keen during a Virgo Moon, and it likes useful work. You'll hit your groove doing something productive. Straighten up a small corner of your world. Attend to an unsolved problem. Avoid heavy, spicy foods; be good to your liver and digestive system.
                            • Return of the Leonids

                              Tue, November 14, 2006 - 11:54 AM
On Sunday, Nov. 19th, Earth will pass through a stream of debris from comet 55P/Tempel-Tuttle. The result: a shower of Leonid meteors.

"We expect an outburst of more than 100 Leonids per hour," says Bill Cooke, the head of NASA's Meteoroid Environment Office in Huntsville, AL. This pales in comparison to the Leonid storms of 2001 and 2002, when sky watchers saw thousands of meteors. Even so, a hundred per hour would make the Leonids one of the best showers of 2006.

**IN PHOTOS SEE A Leonid meteor streaks past the Orion Nebula in 2001. Photo Credit: Mark Brown of Alabama.

The problem is, you have to be in the right place at the right time to see them.

Earth's encounter with the comet dust is going to be brief—"possibly no more than a few hours long," says Cooke. Forecasters differ on when the outburst will occur. Estimates range from 0445 UT to 0630 UT on Nov. 19th (11:45 p.m. on Nov. 18th to 1:30 am EST on Nov. 19th). The timing favors western Europe, Africa, Brazil and eastern parts of North America: map.

Cooke urges observers to find the darkest possible skies. "These Leonids are going to be faint." Why? "The stream contains very small grains of comet dust. Small grains make faint meteors--it's as simple as that."

The mid-November region of Earth's orbit is littered with debris from Comet Tempel-Tuttle. Every time the comet visits the inner solar system (once every 33 years), it lays down a new stream of dust, pebbles and rock. This creates a sort of "minefield" for Earth to navigate every November.

Not all of these debris streams are alike. For example: "A Leonid stream we hit in 1998 was full of rock-sized debris. They made brilliant fireballs when they hit the atmosphere," recalls Cooke. "The stream we're hitting this year is just the opposite. It's mostly fine dust."

**SEE IN PHOTOS: A minefield of Leonid debris streams. The streams intersect the plot at nearly right angles, so they resemble 2D clouds rather than 3D filaments. Credit J. Vaubaillon. [More]

Debris streams are segregated—dusty vs. rocky—by the force of sunlight. Consider the stream directly ahead of us: "It was ejected from the comet in 1933," says Cooke. "At first, the debris was a mixture of many sizes." But as years passed, the smaller particles diverged from the larger ones. Radiation pressure—the delicate pressure of sunlight itself—pushed the light dust onto a collision course with Earth. Heavier rock-sized fragments resisted the pressure and lagged behind.

Perhaps in some future year we'll encounter the larger debris from 1933 and receive an overdue display of fireballs. How would they get here? "Nudged by Jupiter," suggests Cooke. Jupiter's gravity is strong enough to alter the course of heavier fragments. Indeed, by guiding debris toward us, Jupiter is indirectly responsible for many bright Leonid displays in the past.

But this is 2006. So prepare for an outburst of faint Leonids.

Extra: Don't believe everything you read. While meteor forecasters have done a splendid job predicting Leonid outbursts in recent years—sometimes "nailing the peak within minutes"—they could be wrong in 2006. The outburst might happen at an unexpected time or it might be better than expected. Cooke urges enthusiasts everywhere to keep an eye out for Leonid meteors the nights of Nov. 17th – 19th. "The best time to look," he says, "is just before local dawn when the constellation Leo is high in the sky."

                                    Venus in Sagittarius

Friday, November 17, 12:02 am PST, 3:02 am EST

The planet of love and pleasure in adventurous Sagittarius can bring restlessness to relationships. The heart needs exciting experiences to sing joyfully now. Take risks to explore new territory in romance and broaden your palate with different cultural experiences to expand the range of your tastes in food, music, clothing, social activities and relationships.

Mercury's direct movement releases ideas and information that have been held in reserve or hidden out of sight. Making new contacts becomes easier now, as is catching up on issues that have been stirred but not resolved during the past three weeks.

                                    Sunday, November 19

Individuality and inventiveness are more easy expressed with Uranus' forward turn. Freedom becomes more urgent, innovation is essential and tolerance for boring routine decreased. Breaking rules can be expected, but make it a creative act of self-discovery rather than a reflexive reaction against external authority. Being true to yourself is the most powerful act of liberation.

                                    New Moon in Scorpio

Monday, November 20, 2:19 pm PST, 5:19 pm EST

This New Moon in Scorpio is a magnificent bridge between past disappointment and future fulfillment. Its conjunction with expansive Jupiter late in the sign of letting go helps us eliminate unhealthy habits. Scorpio's sharp eye for resources reveals opportunities in the midst of loss or conflict. Emotions may be extreme now, but the force you feel is the awakening giant of potential, one that can deepen relationships, nurture undeveloped talent and increase income.

                                    Sun in Sagittarius

Wednesday, November 22, 3:02 am PST, 6:02 am EST

The Sun's entry into this hopeful sign can be especially uplifting this year. With Sagittarius' ruling planet Jupiter about to cross the threshold tomorrow, a wave of expansion lifts us towards our goals. Self-righteousness, though, is the shadow of this sign, the dark force of judgment based on the absoluteness of one's beliefs that condemns those who act or think differently. Expand the horizons of awareness by recognizing that no faith or philosophy answers all of life's questions. Truth is not a fixed set of rules, but a spirit of discovery and a never ending willingness to learn.

                                    Jupiter in Sagittarius

Thursday, November 23, 8:45 pm PST, 11:45 pm EST

The giant planet returns to its fiery home sign to inspire the faithful during its one-year stay in Sagittarius. This is considered to be a highly favorable astrological event that supports education, risk taking and travel. An optimistic wind can blow away doubt and fear as we catch a glimpse of a more rewarding future. The challenge is to turn vision into action now, instead of just waiting for tomorrow to come. It's better to aim high, fall short and try again than to decide that what you desire is beyond your reach.

                                      Sat, November 18, 2006 - 9:45 PM
Every year in mid-November, Earth glides through a veritable minefield
of comet dust clouds. The source of the debris is Comet
55P/Tempel-Tuttle. This weekend Earth will graze one of those clouds, producing a mild
                                      outburst of Leonid meteors.

If forecasters are correct, the outburst will peak around 0445 UT on
Sunday, Nov. 19th (11:45 p.m. EST on Saturday, Nov. 18th). The timing
favors observers in western Europe, Brazil and the Atlantic coast of North
America, who could see as many as 100 meteors per hour. Dark skies are
                                      strongly recommended.

                                        Mon, November 20, 2006 - 8:06 AM
I've heard that two rutting elk can lock horns for over a day. Of course, humans in a power struggle can easily exceed that, especially during Scorpio's Moon. Power issues are raised. But what's likely hidden is the truth about where that power lies. One opponent overthrows another, hoping to capture power. But is it really there? That's the contemplation this Moontime. Here's a clue: there's a treasure house full of the good stuff, just like the fairy tales always said. And you don't have to steal or envy the ones who seem to have it. All you need is to find your personal key. This Moon says, "Let your intuition lead." If you're stuck on something, visualize whatever you're holding onto eighty years from now. Impermanence seems scary. But like an old snakeskin, after a loss comes something vibrant and new. Celebrate yourself as a passionate, evolving being.

                                          Mon, November 20, 2006 - 8:07 AM

                                          • VENUS IN SAGITTARIUS NOV 17 - DEC 10

                                            Mon, November 20, 2006 - 8:10 AM
Venus, the planet of love and beauty, is off to adventure in experience-seeking Sagittarius. Lust for life and expansion of the boundaries of pleasure are supported now. Love is about expanding limits here. We may give up some of the comfortable patterns of the past and risk relationship safety for new levels of experience. Love needs to grow now; it will not stand still.

Travel, learning and a taste for all that's foreign may be heightened. It's hard to stick to the old routine when the planet of pleasure hits the road. This desire for the new and exotic may reveal some weakness of judgment. Purchases are more likely made with joyful abandon rather than with an eye on long-term value. People, too, can be overrated, particularly if they offer the promise of adventure or enlightenment.

Among those born with Venus in Sagittarius are spiritual teachers Sai Baba, Paramhansa Yogananda, Alan Watts, Albert Schweitzer and Deepak Chopra. Rockers David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, Tina Turner and Pete Townsend have Venus in Sag, as do both Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel.

Quite a number of writers were born with the planet of the arts in this literary sign. Art Buchwald, Lewis Carroll, Kurt Vonnegut and Mark Twain were some who wrote from a humorous perspective. Political figures with Venus in Sagittarius include Winston Churchill and Margaret Thatcher from England's Conservative Party, and Russians Boris Yeltsin, Joseph Stalin and Alexander Solzhenitsyn.

Finally, we must thank Venus in Sagittarius for her great sense of humor. Two contemporary examples of Venus in Sag's "almost anything goes" comedy are the free-spirited Whoopi Goldberg and Roseanne. Laughter lifts our spirits, opens the heart and shows us the limitless boundaries of joy symbolized by Venus in Sagittarius.
                                            • NEW MOON

                                              Mon, November 20, 2006 - 12:42 PM
Sometimes referred to as Lunar Samhain, the New Moon in Scorpio is a night when the veil is thin between the living and the spirit world. Great insights can be gained on this night through contact with spirit teachers: be they animal, mineral, angelic, or ancestral. Open your mind to the wisdom that flows from the other side. You may even find you have a new set of cosmic helpers after this New Moon ritual! Scorpio is the sign that seeks deep truth in all things.

The New Moon in Scorpio is the night to acknowledge the ways this questioning process manifests in your life. This is the most serious New Moon of the year. This is the night of truth and dare. Dare to be truthful with yourself and the rewards of this ritual will come back tenfold. The planetary aspects mentioned above will definitely heighten the intensity of your ritual, as well as actions taken in support of your intentions during the two week waxing phase of the Moon. The Sun/Moon/Jupiter in Scorpio symbolizes our egoic and emotional need to be in control and maintain a position of power. Mars and Mercury in Scorpio lend the influence of truthful action and deep thought to uncover and strip away the layers of lies we tell ourselves in order to protect our own selfish interests. Truth-telling will be quite a task on this New Moon in Scorpio.

However, the trine to the North Node in Pisces reminds us that this is night to commit to truth-telling with compassion and love. Use a mirror in your ritual. Take a long look at yourself; go all the way inside your skin, inside your mind, inside your heart. Are you doing and saying things that create fear, alienation, dissatisfaction, and despair in others? What thoughts and actions have you put energy into that are now coming back to haunt you? Are you supporting people that create pain and suffering for you and for others? Are you too afraid to deal with them properly or let them go all together?

Look at your fear, where it comes from, what makes it worse and what eases it. This is the optimal night to face your fear head on and make a commitment to letting go of unhealthy and tortuous relationships, jobs, behavior, and habits. A New Moon in Scorpio shows you the truth, shows you your vulnerabilities, and your powerlessness. But it also gives you the strength to let go of destructive behavior patterns, make changes, and learn to be powerful in a positive life-supporting way.

Use your ritual to journey to the depths of your soul. And don't think this will be some kind of new-agey joyride! If you are real with yourself and dive deep into the core of your unconscious, this will be challenging and scary. If you brave the murky depths you will arrive at that sacred place beyond fear, pain and illusion. There are many ways to do this, but on a New Moon in Scorpio it is best to work in the dark. Indigenous people use drums and ritual dance to induce a transpersonal state of consciousness. You can try this with a partner who drums while you journey, or use recorded shamanic drumming. Some people gaze into a scrying mirror or a bowl of water to induce a trancelike state. For some visualization or meditation is enough. There are many plants that can alter or heighten your awareness. Use them with knowledge and respect. This is not recreation.

More than ever, it is all about intention on this New Moon The Scorpio New Moon is a night to strip yourself bare and release your pretensions. Relinquish all you are, all you have, and all you wish to be. Let go of your attachment to suffering: pain, violence, resentment, hatred, judgments, and indecisiveness. This is the night to fearlessly take responsibility for your own condition and the condition of your loved ones. When it comes down to it we always have some modicum of control over our circumstances. Even in our darkest hour, it is up to us to make change where we can, and where we can't, rise to the occasion and make the best of a bad situation.

Scorpio forces us to recognize our relative insignificance in the big scheme of things, but it demands that we take responsibility for the tremendous impact we have on what happens in the world. This is the true meaning of power. Scorpio knows it has the power to change, though it is the improper use of this power that often becomes problematic.

There are many great teachers of power to be found in the plant, animal, and spirit worlds. Seek their wisdom and their healing energy in your ritual. They will be your guides as you peel back the layers of fear and false pretense to arrive at the stark naked truths of your life.

But please don't leave yourself hanging in the dark depths! Scorpio rules death and rebirth and New Moons are always a time of new beginnings. Active rebirth from the womb of wisdom is a pivotal part of this ritual; you are not done until this has been completed. It is important to rest after your journey within. Calm and soothe yourself with a hot bath, sit in front of a fire and have a light snack. Use this time to reflect on the truths and the lessons you were shown. When you are rested, go back to your ritual area and give yourself time to document your journey. If you need to, call back your spirit guides to help you in this process. Write down or create a visual representation of the wisdom you received and clearly delineate newly conceived goals or action plans. Scorpio empowers projects and goals that require real commitment to your truth, and as you well know these are the hardest to achieve.

Here's to your New Moon in Scorpio journey into the Plutonic underworld and your successful rebirth into wholeness, transformation and greater wisdom.
                                              • MOON IN SAGITTARIUS NOVEMBER 20 - NOVEMBER 23

                                                Tue, November 21, 2006 - 8:27 AM
Think of a horse running free. An archer's eye trained on a distant target. A monk's heart and mind expanding to the heavens. The Moon encourages you to reach beyond a limit today. Pick one thing (however small) that you can do in the next hour to renew your sense of adventure and love for the world. The energy of Sagittarius is expansive, free, optimistic, generous, philosophical and visionary. Quick-jot down five things you're grateful for. Next, write down your current salary and add a couple zeros. And that fabulous thing you haven't accomplished yet? See yourself having done it. In this expansive frame of mind, hug a know-it-all. Forgive anyone who sticks their foot in their mouth. But avoid the mall, you'll overspend. In body matters, take a loofa to your cellulite thighs. If you go to the gym this Moontime, be cautious of upper leg strain.

                                                  Thu, November 23, 2006 - 6:36 AM
                                                  Signs are Seasons

Summer ends with the beautiful colors of Libra. Then, as the Sun moves into Scorpio, the intensity of autumn magnifies. The leaves shrivel and die. By the time the Sun reaches Sagittarius, there is a wintry look to the northern landscapes. The leaves have fallen from the trees and the view is open to a larger sky. Sagittarius is about wide open spaces.

Sagittarius is the Archer, with arrow aimed at a target high in the sky and far away. The arrow of the Archer represents thoughts, and during the Sagittarius month, our aspirations can be aimed high. Our minds go to far-away places and we think about our long-term goals in life. We may dream of travel and visualize the future.

                                                  Thanksgiving

Astrologically, each sign is associated with a planet. Sagittarius is connected with Jupiter, the King of the Olympian Gods. Jupiter is bountiful, magnanimous and expansive. It’s no coincidence the United States celebrates Thanksgiving, a holiday built around giving thanks for bounty, on the first Jupiter's day (Thursday) in Sagittarius. We celebrate the vision of our founding fathers and the support they received from the Native Americans who helped them survive.

                                                  The Philosopher and the Bachelor

The Archer is a centaur, half man and half horse. This is symbolic of the Sagittarian, aspiring to overcome its animal nature, reaching to the heavens, expanding the mind into realms of abstract thought. The Archer aims mental arrows toward the sky, expanding consciousness into the realms of the gods. Sagittarian Voltaire wrote, “If there were no God, it would be necessary to invent him.”

Sagittarians are often quite happy in marriage, yet they need a great deal of independence to follow their visions. Other Sagittarians may live alone quite happily, with a full social life, and not ever miss the trappings of married life. The important thing about those born with emphasis in this sign is that they are driven by the fire of ideas, and as long as they are pursuing their vision, they can remain quite enthusiastic about life.

                                                  Life is an Adventure

Since Sagittarius is connected with long distances, typical Sagittarians live their lives as a great adventure. For them, it is less important that a goal is reached than it is that a goal is set and pursued. They may plan a trip around the world, never to complete it, yet the vision remains an important part of the fabric of life. As long as the adventure remains in thought, it is alive.

I Seek the Truth—Don't Bother Me with Facts

Sagittarius paints with a broad brush. It seeks one truth to answer all of life's questions. Its strength is the ability to see the big picture. However, this sometimes means that Sagittarius is weak on details. At its worst, this can lead to prejudice, an unwillingness to see nuance and the smaller differences that define the individual members of a group. Sagittarian optimism can become simplistic sloganeering, rooting for one side with intolerance for those who do not agree with its "truth."

The transforming planet Pluto is moving through Sagittarius from January 1995 through December 2008. This can be a period of religious and political extremes. However, a gift of this period is to drop the external trappings of belief to get to the core of truth.

Humor is a common element among Sagittarians Charles Schulz, Richard Pryor, Woody Allen, Jon Stewart, Gary Shandling and Ben Stiller, while music unites Bette Midler, Tina Turner, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Jakob Dylan, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Frank Sinatra.

Sagittarian visions appear in movies with Steven Spielberg, Brad Pitt, Lucy Liu, Julianne Moore, Kim Basinger and John Malkovich, and in the lives of sports champions Larry Bird and Billie Jean King.

                                                    Fri, November 24, 2006 - 9:11 PM
                                                    Nov 23, 2006 to Nov 25, 2006
Maybe you noticed. Things have gotten more serious with the Moon in Capricorn. No-nonsense suits around the office. Discussions about rules, disciplines, hard work and respect. Virtues that make employees squirm and bosses feel lonely. Structure-everybody hates it until something unruly occurs. Physics says a vast and wild emptiness dances between the molecules in a chair. But we don't fall in due to the structuring thought in wood, respecting our need for a solid place to sit. That's Capricorn in your life, structures that support. Its energy inspires your achievements and fears (funny how both can be motivating). Face a fear today. Be the authority in something. Devise a business plan. Recognize that diligence is nothing more than keeping what you want in mind. Strategize with a wise old one. And do something especially nice this Moontime for your skin, bones or knees.
                                                    • MOON IN PISCES NOVEMBER 27- 29

                                                      Tue, November 28, 2006 - 12:40 AM
                                                      Nov 27, 2006 to Nov 29, 2006
On a Pisces Moon, think foot massage. Soak your soles in a calming lavender bath. Feet are ruled by Pisces; maybe it's the way they cushion against the hard ground. Let yourself drift and dream today. Forget that pressured list in your day planner; don't bother with a watch. You'll accomplish more by letting your intuition guide you from this to that. Mood enhancers are films, music and poetry. But watch the spaced-out bag boy at the supermarket; he's likely to leave your ice cream on the checkout stand. Steer clear of whiners and martyrs. There's moisture in the air-fog, mist, tears. Better to convert self-pity or sentimentality into a broader compassion for the world. And if you've let your meditation practice lapse, this is a great Moon to return. Find the window that opens to your one-ness with all.

                                                      • JUPITER IN SAGITTAURIUS PART TWO

                                                        Wed, November 29, 2006 - 7:56 AM
It’s a stop/start, push/pull, should/shouldn’t sort of week, so don’t be surprised if you or yours feel discombobulated or disorientated by the air of uncertainty. Nothing is as it was and what’s new hasn’t even started to settle into what will be. We’re on the threshold of a new Jupiter cycle, which means many of us are caught in the thrall of the “new,” mesmerized by the possibilities and not thinking about the long-term consequences of our choices. What’s more, because the signature of this new Jupiter cycle is highly optimistic, it is possible to get swept away by the tides wishful thinking. I’m not suggesting a negative stance—not at all—I’m simply advising a thoughtful attitude that realistically considers as many options as possible.

Jupiter entered Sagittarius, its Home Sign, on Thanksgiving, and will stay in Sagittarius for approximately one year. Always larger than life, Jupiter enjoys facilitating a broad perspective and a wide view. Significantly, Jupiter returns to Sagittarius for the last full year of Pluto’s journey through Sagittarius, a transit that began in January 1995 and starts to end in January of 2008. Sagittarius is the Sign of synthesis; symbolized by the Archer/Centaur, who aims for the stars, as he is simultaneously rooted to the earth in a body, half human and half horse. The Archer represents the urge to unite instinct with reason and intuition with intellect. All spiritual and philosophic traditions fall within the domain of Sagittarius and its Ruling Planet, Jupiter. Together, Sagittarius and Jupiter hold all the stories humans have told to give meaning to existence. And that includes religion—its practice, as well as its dogma.

Pluto always examines—no, make that exhumes—the underbelly of a Sign, and because Sagittarius is about spiritual diversity, its shadow can be seen as rigid adherence to a belief systems—a one way and one way only attitude. It’s no astrological accident that since Pluto, the Prime Mover of Transformation, has been transiting Sagittarius we have been confronting the certainty of fundamentalism. Pluto’s journey through Sagittarius has also made it abundantly clear that we are a global community and what happens to one happens to the many.

As this new cycle unfolds, use Jupiter in Sagittarius to expand your perspective. Yes, Jupiter symbolizes excess and yes, again, we are sure to experience exaggeration of every size. But sometimes life needs to be lived large. Jupiter also signifies the capacity to laugh at life’s ironies and to live life joyously. So when possible, allow yourself the pleasure of laughter and the sound of a happy heart.

If you know your Ascendant and/or your Moon Sign, read that, too.

                                                        Aries March 21-April 19

You’re shifting your worldview out of the ordinary and into the extraordinary, and as part of that process you may have to examine what believe in. Keep in mind, you’re not losing your religion—you’re strengthening your faith.

                                                        Taurus April 20-May 20

The focus is on ultimate value and how you measure your worth against the prevailing consensus of what matters in and to the world. Remember, not every crisis is financial and there are some things money can’t buy.

                                                        Gemini May 21-June 21

It’s all about relating and all activities related to all your relations—personal or professional, private or public. Use your innate social skill, but don’t take any interaction for granted. You’re not in danger—you just need to stay present.

                                                        Cancer June 22-July 22

Whether it is self-care or taking care of others, Pluto is delineating the complexity of service. Fortunately, Jupiter insists on a lighter touch. Give yourself permission to enjoy your work and you’ll fan the fire of happiness.

                                                        Leo July 23-August 22

As the need for self-expression mixes with the desire for recognition, you’re dreaming big. Go ahead and expect the most, but remember it’s not the product that matters—it’s who you are in the doing that counts.

                                                        Virgo August 23-September 22

A deep yearning to belong motivates the desire to connect with family, given or chosen. Trust this urge, and gather with those you love, but remember, true belonging begins in the heart, first, and then radiates out into the world.

                                                        Libra September 23-October 22

Behold the power of words—your words, as well as the words of others. Continue to listen carefully to what you and others say, even casually, and you’ll realize just how much is conveyed through conversation.

                                                        Scorpio October 23-November 21

Leave money out of the equation, and reflect on how you assess your personal worth. If you don’t feel good about who you are simply because you are, then, you know precisely where to start the next phase of personal growth.

                                                        Sagittarius November 22-December 21

Yes, your life is an on-going identity crisis—but it’s not your personal version of Groundhog Day, so don’t despair if it feels as if you’re starting over—again. You’re actually in the home stretch, and soon the hard work will be behind you.

                                                        Capricorn December 22-January 19

Connect with your unconscious and you’ll satisfy your desire for a shift in perspective. Simply allow your imagination to stretch the limits of your horizon, and you’ll create your own version of Fantasy Island.

                                                        Aquarius January 20-February 18

As your circle of friends expands, so does your ability to cope with cultural differences. While you already thrive on diversity, as this phase unfolds, your appreciation for the value of varying viewpoints will increase.

                                                        Pisces February 19-March 20

Of course you want your work to be appreciated and recognized, so use this time to put yourself in the spotlight. I’m not suggesting you shout your praises, but singing an ode to your many accomplishments will do just fine.
                                                      • MOON IN ARIES NOV 29 - DEC 1

                                                        Thu, November 30, 2006 - 12:03 PM
The weatherman may say rain, but expect some Sun to shoot through the clouds. Aries Moon draws fire into the atmosphere, stimulating life force and vitality. You're alive, filled with your own thoughts, centered into the vision before your own two eyes. It's all about you today. Trouble is, everyone else is in the same place. Imagine a playing field with plenty of loose cannons. That's Aries Moon. Insensitive remarks can land at missile speed and detonate into conflicts. The good news is they'll end just as quickly. This Moon goes against teamwork, but it's auspicious for personal challenges. Compete against your own limits. What's that mountain you've been wanting to climb? Be daring. Headaches, eyestrain or sinus difficulty imply troubling feelings have collected inside your head. Meet whatever you've been avoiding head-on.
                                                        • STRANGE SUNSPOT AND ALIGNMENT OF PLANETS...

                                                          Thu, November 30, 2006 - 7:30 PM
STRANGE SUNSPOT: A strange-looking sunspot is emerging on the sun.
It's shaped like a ring almost three times wider than Earth. Amateur
astronomers with solar telescopes are encouraged to monitor this curious
apparition. It may be little more than a novelty--but its definitely
                                                          worth watching.

ALIGNMENT OF PLANETS: Mark your calendar. On Dec. 8th through 11th,
Jupiter, Mercury and Mars will form a tight triangle in the eastern sky
at dawn. All three will fit together in the field of view of ordinary
binoculars. (Mars is dim enough that binoculars may be required to see
it.) Of special note is the morning of Dec. 10th when Jupiter and
Mercury converge within 0.25 degrees of one another. The close, bright pair
will be visible to the unaided eye--a fabulous sight in the rosy glow
                                                          of sunrise.

                                                        • MOON IN TAURUS DECEMBER 1 - DECEMBER 3

                                                          Sun, December 3, 2006 - 7:54 PM
It's a steady and grounded Taurus Moon. Not a day for roller coasters, airborne, screaming with delight. Or is it? Indulge in the sheer pleasure of being here, adored by gravity, earth's invisible embrace. Enjoy your weight. Roll in a newly mowed lawn. Celebrate your voice: shout, sing or whisper in somebody's ear. Then drink a soothing tea for the thyroid and throat. You might be feeling a desire for more comfort and security now. Taurus says your prosperity takes organic gardening. Nothing greedy or toxic, just planning, patience, true nourishment, your bills paid in full, a surplus in your checking account and honoring the ways in which you're already wealthy. If your neck or jaw is stiff, ask yourself, "What am I resisting?" This Moon makes it easy to feel stubborn. But in a changing world, such strength can sometimes defeat itself. Don't try to move immovable objects.
                                                          • The jumpy energy of this lunation is accentuated by a stressful 90-degree square from electric Uranus to the Sun-Moon opposition. Brilliant ideas pop in and out of the mind so quickly that they may be difficult to grasp and almost impossible to apply. There is so much information available now that it's best to narrow your focus on one single piece of it at a time. The face-off between the Sun in Sagittarius and the Moon in Gemini is always an active time, one in which change is to be expected. Changing ideas, shifting circumstances and emotional jumps are common, but the presence of Uranus makes this an even more volatile period. Stay flexible and in the moment. Whatever you're feeling one minute could be different the next.
                                                            • Moon in Gemini
                                                              Dec 3, 2006 to Dec 5, 2006
Feeling restless? The Moon says, "You're a butterfly. A kite on a windy day. Soar, spin, let your thoughts roam. Start a couple new books. Visit friends. Enjoy the incredible lightness of being." And just try to stop yourself from gossiping! That's Hermes at work, the god behind this Gemini Moon: stirring up curiosity and light-hearted tricks, delighting in stories and finding the world of people endlessly fascinating. Hermes is the messenger, if you ask a question, be alert for the answer. Listen, and it will come. Given Gemini's caprice, don't be surprised if the weather suddenly shifts. Take advantage of the mutable atmosphere. Change your mind about something. See several sides of an issue you've been stuck on. If your shoulders are tense, consider dropping a few responsibilities. Then make a peace offering to your lungs and jittery nerves. Take slow, deep breaths while falling asleep. Imagine bad habits falling away.
                                                              • You won't have to give anyone anything to talk about this holiday season -- tongues are going to wag about every little detail of every little thing, 24/7. And some of us (of course, not thee or me) are even going to make up stuff just to make sure they are in the game. So if you've got a secret (and who doesn't) it might be wise to figure out a way to hold on to it -- a vow of silence, perhaps or maybe hypnosis. Because once the parties start, they aren't going to stop, and as the already compulsive need to "share" combines with the seasonal compulsive need to revel, holding back will take gargantuan effort.

Six planets -- the Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Venus, Pluto, and Mercury (on the 8th) -- in Sagittarius are at the heart of this week's need to speak. As every Sagittarius (or friend of a Sagittarian) knows, Sagittarius loves -- l-o-v-e-s -- to talk. So this concentration of planets is certain to stimulate dialogue about anything -- anything at all. Just be aware, Sagittarius is also well known (okay, infamous) for saying a little more than necessary. And this week, a Mars-Mercury conjunction amplifies that loquacious leaning. Mercury signifies language and communication, Mars represents movement, and when they unite, minds work overtime and conversations mimic streaming video -- it's in your head and out of your mouth before you have a chance to reconsider.

But that's not all. Uranus tweaks much of what's said, as well as done, toward the eclectic and the galactic, which means Santa is likely to look more like ET than a member of the Claus Clan and the Chanukah Bush, more like a Triffid. A Uranus-Sun square is currently skewing human behavior more than slightly eccentric, so don't be surprised if simultaneously individual efforts to deviate from the norm create new collective trends -- how about a puce and purple Christmas? What's more, over the next few weeks, Uranus squares Mercury, Mars, and Jupiter, catalyzing a new interpretation of the story of Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer" into a musical entitled "I gotta be free. I gotta be me."

It's been an intense year, and now as it comes to a close, some of us won't be able to keep repressing or suppressing how we feel about what we've been through. So rather than struggle to hold back, hold forth. Just be sure to open your gift of compassion early, this year, and if too much is said by you or those you love -- or even by a stranger -- be forgiving, understanding, and kind.

                                                                Tuesday, December 5

Serious Saturn's backwards turn is a time to find authority within. External accomplishments don't stop between now and the ringed planet's direct turn on April 19, but there's a subtle shift of focus towards inner reality. Be responsible to yourself and follow the healthy instincts that have guided you well in the past. Respect your own rhythm as much as possible, instead of forcing yourself to follow someone else's pace. Trust your heart, even in its less than noble moments, because it is your most reliable teacher now.

                                                                Mars in Sagittarius

Active Mars loves the wide open spaces of Sagittarius. We're free to frolic and be foolish, to take chances and venture into unexplored territory without careful planning or preparation. If you're not overstepping your bounds, then you're not trying. Going too far is just about right now. Humor is the key to being excessive without becoming destructive. Fighting fiercely for your beliefs is tempered by the ability to laugh at yourself and recognize that no matter how serious the cause it's also a game you choose to play.

Detail-oriented Mercury is sometimes weak on facts in this far-reaching sign. The fire of the mind burns through subtle differences to pound home the big points. Passionate thoughts heat up the head and can easily overcome reason. This level of enthusiasm can be great for promoting ideas, but often makes a reasoned exchange of opinions more difficult.

Pleasure-loving Venus puts on formal wear in Capricorn. Feeling good about oneself comes from producing results, gaining recognition and managing life skillfully. A great deal can be accomplished as art (Venus) joins with business (Capricorn). But relationships can be stressed if the need to dominate goes too far. A tendency to see the world in terms of winners and losers could make compromise and cooperation more difficult. Recognizing our mutual dependency can reduce competitiveness and allow for activities where we don't have to keep score.

The New Moon in late Scorpio summarizes the past with a perspective rich in wisdom. Scenes of old failures and successes play across the screen of the mind in dramatic form. Tears and smiles accompany the memories that have filled our lives thus far. But we are at a turning point now where old tragedies needn't weigh so heavily. Understanding the purpose of suffering reduces its grip, freeing us to draw fully on all of our resources, individual and collective, to use the best within us and leave the rest behind.
                                                                    • MOON IN VIRGO

                                                                      • VENUS IN CAPRICORN

Venus, the planet of love, acceptance, pleasure and the arts, is now in earthy Capricorn. This is an interesting combination of soft and hard. Sweet Venus likes things the easy way, but Saturn-ruled Capricorn is about focus, commitment and effort.

This is a time when love must be earned. Effort counts as much as heart, if you want to earn the approval of others. Relationships are built on shared goals and a willingness to work through the hard spots. Venus in Capricorn rewards maturity in relationships, helping to define problems and making a commitment to solve them.

This might not be the most romantic placement for Venus, but there are some real advantages here nevertheless. One is the ability to achieve creative or artistic goals even if you don't have the greatest natural talent. Capricorn rewards those who stick with the difficult tasks, rather than flashy folks who don't want to get their hands dirty with effort.

Venus in Capricorn means that respect equals love. We may have to work a little harder to be appreciated now, but we're building a solid foundation of self-respect that can ensure the continuation and growth of the relationships that count most in our lives.

A good number of young royalty have Venus in Capricorn, including Princesses Caroline and Stephanie of Monaco, England's Prince Andrew, King Juan Carlos of Spain and the late king of rock 'n' roll, Elvis Presley. Both Caroline and John F. Kennedy Jr. were also born with this combination.
                                                                        • MARS CONJUNCT JUPITER TODAY

                                                                          Mon, December 11, 2006 - 10:59 AM
Fire up the expresso pots, pour on the lattes, enable Java script...This is THE energy combination. The mix is energy with exuberance, activity with luck, courage with success. You can make split-second decisions that work out just right; you can cope with all situations thrust at you in a single response. When you act from a place of confidence, with the physical energy to back up your plans and promises, the possibility for progress and prosperity is strong; luck is with you. Overexuberant enthusiasm can lead to taking uncalculated risks that have the potential for accidents. Calculated valid risks, however, have a good possibility for success.

                                                                          • MOON IN CAPRICORN

                                                                            Thu, December 21, 2006 - 6:41 AM
                                                                            Dec 20, 2006 to Dec 22, 2006
                                                                            • WINTER SOLSTICE TODAY!!

                                                                              Thu, December 21, 2006 - 6:44 AM
It's Solstice time, again -- December 21st, 7:22 pm EST -- and time to celebrate the return of the light (at least in the Northern Hemisphere) and the start of another year. While pop culture tends to translate "solstice" as shop 'til you drop or party hardy, what the word solstice really means is "the Sun's standstill" because during the Solstice (Winter or Summer) the Sun appears to be rising and setting in the same position on the horizon. It's a physical event with a metaphysical meaning: the triumph of light over dark and the eternal renewal of life. From Christmas to Hanukkah to Yule to Yalda, this solar victory has been celebrated for thousands of years, in a multiplicity of cultures and a variety of languages. This week, the stars support contemplation of the Sun's stillness. But just like last week, they also promote participation in a multitude of seasonal excesses, and that means balance continues to be the key to happiness.

The source of excess is a concentration of planetary activity in Sagittarius. Four planets -- Jupiter, Mars, Mercury and Pluto -- form two sets of conjunctions. (1) A Mercury-Pluto conjunction triggers an unrelenting intellectual curiosity that just won't take "no" for an answer because there must be a way to logically explain everything, including the unexplainable. Go ahead -- try to figure it out, but remember, some things are always going to be inexplicable -- and that's probably a good thing. (2) A Jupiter-Mars conjunction continues to stoke the fire of ambition and spark decisive action. A word of caution: Apply the intellectual scrutiny of Mercury-Pluto before you make a commitment you might regret. Our pal Uranus still squares both Jupiter and Mars, which makes impulsive decisions probable. Remember the Uranus motto: Marry in haste, regret at leisure.

Speaking of impromptu romance, a Venus-Uranus sextile could generate a lot of action under the mistletoe, and while this positive action doesn't last long, it could catalyze more than a few steamy encounters.

No matter how you celebrate the season of light, be sure to make time to experience the transition from old to new. Much can be gleaned in the liminal space of the next several days, especially how the dance between the dark and the light was reflected through the mundane events of your life. As always, be generous of spirit and as kind as possible to all living beings. And like the Sun, allow your light to illuminate the darkness whenever you can.
                                                                              • HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAPRICORN~

                                                                                Wed, December 26, 2007 - 5:04 AM
I've always thought Capricorns were suspicious of me, until I learned that they look at everyone that way. They're hard to win over, but that's just because their standards are so darn high. When Capricorn rules the sky, we get our act in gear, and it's easier to make things happen.

Sun in Capricorn Has staying power to achieve long-range goals, and needs something substantial to strive for. Disciplined and able to sustain focus in one area, leading to mastery. Can emerge as a trusted authority, and someone that makes their mark in the public sphere.

Moon in Capricorn: Shows self-control of emotions, and feels in balance when taking charge of a situation. Comes across as having an anchor of stability. Finds it natural to be in the role of provider.

Mercury in Capricorn: Likes to find order out of life's impressions, and attach a purpose to what they're thinking about. Has the ability to focus on what serves its ends, and tune out all else.
A powerful memory and grasp of practical elements make them come across as authorities on any subject.

Venus in Capricorn: Self-control of emotions makes them appear business-like about romance. They're drawn to alliances that boost their status, and provide longterm stability. Shows loyalty and likes to nuture a relationship over time. May choose a partner based on the potential impact on the public image.

Mars in Capricorn: Vital energies are steady and powerfully harnessed for endurance. They're self-controlled, and stirred to act on goals that satisfy their need for status and gains in the material world. Power is an aphrodesiac.

Jupiter in Capricorn: Finds bliss through the creation of solid success through their own hard work. Takes the long view, building a foundation for career achievement. Self-reliance and discipline open the doors of good fortune.

Saturn: in Capricorn: In his own sign, Saturn's gifts of perseverance through hardships are magnified. Has the ability to make good use of resources, and work within limitations.

                                                                                THE CAPRICORN:
The Sun glowed in Capricorn, the Sea-Goat, a feminine sign on your birthday. The Sun in astrology stands for our inner nature, revealing the mark of our true character. The tenth sign of the zodiac, Capricorn is ruled by powerful Saturn, the planet of structure and responsibility, but it is the exaltation of Mars, the planet of action and desire! A cardinal (creative and original) sign, Capricorn governs public life and organisation, combined with personal ambition and will to succeed. An earth sign, Capricorn is a loyal associate and faithful friend – although the Goat can be quite possessive and even rather jealous.

Saturn, the lord of karma and emblem of structure, is strong. Tenacious, logical and endowed with the capacity to work hard and long, you rarely hesitate to grasp opportunities for advancement or promotion. You are quite well-grounded, especially later in life (over 40), once you have learnt to overcome those early insecurities. More ambitious than you appear on the surface and a natural executive or manager, you set out to accomplish and are determined to succeed one way or another. Pragmatic and goal-oriented, you soon learn how to get things done, for you aspire to positions of power and authority and admire others who attain such positions.

                                                                                Keys to Success
Initiative and willingness to accept responsibilities are keys to your success, but a false pride makes it hard for you to admit when you are wrong, or to ask others for help. Though you compete aggressively for what you want, you harbour an inner lack of confidence which can make you defensive. Viewing insecurity and fear as weakness, you attempt to hide such feelings, making it hard for others to get close to you.

Hard-nosed Capricorn reacts by assessing the possible worth of any given situation. The goat is a sure-footed, methodical climber. You are heading for the top of the rock, so you'll gladly work long and hard if it means getting what (or who) you want. The energy and randiness of the goat is proverbial, but you can be very lazy if you see no sense in working, or if you can achieve the same high goals in a less strenuous manner.

                                                                                Structure and Reality
Your sense of humour is generally impeccable, although you fail to see the point of personal jokes at your expense. You hold grudges and will take revenge for perceived slights. The ancient emblem of Capricorn was the sea-goat, half goat and half fish. This symbolised the death of the lower mind and the birth of the spiritual. The goat was a popular sacrificial animal in days gone by.

Saturn, structure and reality, teaches an understanding of limits in all areas of life. You respond to traditional values, rules and regulations, and proper thought and behaviour at an early age, even if you reject these things later. Without a coherent structure to guide you toward your goals, you risk losing your way. Ambition and enthusiasm fade without such a structure on which to hang them. Once the reality of something is understood, it is much easier to handle and manipulate. You can be a good builder, engineer, politician, lawyer, or business executive.

                                                                                Youthful Appearance
Lean Capricorn develops good eating habits early, which stand you in good stead as an adult. An innate spirit of competition makes you keen on sports, although you can be so aggressively determined to win, you can be less than gracious when you lose. Jogging, running (especially cross-country), golf, skating, hunting, wrestling, boxing, martial arts, and body-building are favorite activities. Although you probably looked older or more mature when you were young, you seem to defy the aging process, and retain a remarkably youthful appearance from your middle years well into old age.

Capricorn rules the bones and joints (especially the knees), teeth, and skin. Sensitive skin, allergies, and broken bones are problems, while worrying too much can also result in physical disorders. You suffer from insecurity and anxiety in your youth, but blossom under Saturn in your later years.

Your colours are chocolate brown, royal and navy blue, dark green, charcoal grey and red. Capricorn rules metallic lead, while the red garnet is your birthstone, which protects against accidents and falls. In some ancient societies, garnets were worn only by royalty. Capricorn flowers include the camellia, orange blossom, carnation (red), baby's breath, and magnolia.

Your sexuality is powerful and always thrumming just below the surface. Unfortunately, in your youth you tend to allow others to take the initiative, though this changes as you get older and become more self-confident.

Your insecurities can hold you back, though you have inner strength and a load of ambition. Ruled by Saturn, the god of karma and restraint, you may be frustrated in the pursuit of your desires, yet have the ability to keep pushing out the envelope until you finally achieve your goal. The Goat is a randy beast, so despite your self-consciousness, you have deep-seated desires that somehow just keep thrusting up to the surface. You are open to sexual experiment, but as a rule, prefer not to take the initiative until you are sure of your ground.

You are fundamentally loyal and need a suitably supportive partner to whom you will remain faithful, once you have committed yourself. However, should that person prove unfaithful, the green eyed demon of jealousy will emerge with a vengeance.

Some Capricorns are sexually repressed and can appear frigid or disinterested. This can be overcome by a caring partner who is prepared spend some time and delicate experimentation finding out what turns you on.

For example, oral stimulation may just be the trigger to wake your sleeping beauty! Once awoken, she is hard to shut down again, so admirers should realise that Capricorn is really in it for the long haul, even when apparently undergoing a more promiscuous stage.

Reserved and dignified you do not give your favours lightly, but when you feel sure enough of your ground, you delight in living up to the randy reputation of the Goat. Conservative Capricorn, a feminine (yin) sign ruled by staid Saturn (but, remember, the exaltation of heady Mars), makes you cautious and calculating in the early stages, but dynamic and voracious when properly roused.

The conflict between the feminine elemental power of the sign and the masculine energies of the planetary forces generates enough steam to run a power station. So in a relationship, Capricorn is a slow starter, but proves to be an explosive performer and a long-lasting and loyal companion. You are quite skilled with people, once you overcome your initial reserve. Painfully shy as a youngster, you grow out of this as you approach middle age, when your careful cultivation of social skills and control begins to bear fruit.

Ambitious Capricorn, while somewhat risk-averse, has an appetite for life and all its pleasures. Your need to climb the social ladder and obtain material recognition can interfere to some degree with your relationships, but with the right person (who shares your interests and is not put off by your fears and insecurities) you blossom into a remarkably fine companion – and a satisfying sexual partner.

You learn to conceal your vulnerability beneath a confident veneer of career fixation and material success, but passionate Mars is always bubbling just below the surface. When the veneer is pierced, the passion flows like lava from a volcano.

In the art of lovemaking, Capricorn is enthusiastic and adventurous when aroused, but can be possessive and jealous when threatened. Partners can sometimes be overwhelmed by the intensity of your passion, coming as it does from beneath such a cool exterior. In marriage you are loyal, a good provider and develop a strong home environment, although you should allow yourself the pleasure of a more relaxed and informal relationship with the children.

Capricorn, the Sea Goat, is the third sign of the Earth triplicity and the tenth sign of the tropical zodiac. This loyal, but ambitious sign is ruled by Saturn (structure; karma) and is the exaltation of Mars (action; passion). The key phrase for Capricorn is "I use".

Saturn, considered the great malefic, harbinger of stasis and disease and also the planet of structure and reality, is the ruler of Capricorn. This is the sign of personal independence and the struggle for economic security.

Capricorn people have a knowledge of practical affairs; prudent habits teach them to utilize everything they see and hear. They are adept at finding solutions and are neat and methodical in their work. They like their money and have frugal instincts.

Capricorns often look older or more mature when they are young and are prone to be weak when young. However, when they reach middle age, the reverse occurs. They seem to defy the aging process and retain a remarkably youthful appearance well into old age. Good dietary habits, if learned in their youth, tend to stay with them as adults. Their innate spirit of competition makes them enthusiastic in business and great sporting competitors.

                                                                                Capricorn Rules the Knees

Each sign has internal, external and structural rulerships. Externally, Capricorn rules the joints (especially the knees), hair, teeth and skin; internally, the mucous membranes, the peripheral nerves and portions of the stomach. Structurally, it rules the skeleton, bones and patella.

The Sun is weak in this sign, but Capricorn does tend towards longevity unless afflicted by the Moon or Saturn. Many diseases result from business anxieties. The accidents from this sign are broken bones, sprains, dislocations and hurts from the knees and below. Sensitive skin, allergies, and broken bones are problems, while worrying too much can also result in physical disorders. Capricorn suffers from insecurity and anxiety in youth, but blossoms under Saturn in the later years.

Capricorn people do not readily yield to disease, but once sick they hold onto the symptoms and can become hypochondriacs. Worry and anguish can also result in health problems like heart attacks if they are not careful to relieve their stress with proper exercise. The pathological tendencies are crystallization, dryness and constriction. Routine massage and foot reflexology can be of considerable benefit.

                                                                                Shades of Capricorn
Capricorn rules the colors chocolate brown, royal and navy blue, dark green and charcoal grey. Capricorn people also respond well to the healing ray of magenta.

                                                                                Capricorn Birthstone

                                    • DECEMBER'S FORCAST

                                      Mon, December 11, 2006 - 11:01 AM
                                      December 2006 Astrology Forecast

December is a month for new explorations. With most of the planets in the sign of Sagittarius, growth, optimism, and exploration are all qualities that are important to cultivate and develop now. Even Jupiter, ruler of Sag, is transiting Sagittarius for most of 2007. With so many planets in Sagittarius, knowledge is power. As you try to understand how situations and meanings are interconnected, further study and research in science, religion, and philosophy can fill an insatiable appetite, even more than all the holiday trimmings. The point is to move forward by becoming more consciously positive; open your horizons, expand your perspective, find your freedom.

The supreme power of big money and authority can continue to influence policy and trends, in general and more obviously, for the next year. Saturn and Pluto are involved in a long-term trine that is within a degree throughout December 2006, and continues through the summer of 2007. A power struggle may not go away or disappear easily and someone's attitude may not lighten up until you take something more seriously. You may need to concentrate with full intensity to gain the insight crucial to achieving an important long-term goal, yet it is possible if you focus. If you want to improve your financial situation this holiday season and in the year ahead, you may need to be more creative, resourceful, and ambitious.

Note: The influence of long-term aspects is at least several months before and after the aspect occurs. Many long-term aspects repeat due to retrogradation, and these effects can last for years, sometime transits continue for 50 years or longer.
