Sun, April 2, 2006 - 3:21 PMMotumba e Axe Pai Gamo,
I've been busy as of late so I haven't had much time to post here. I saw Shanali here in the city last week :) Also since my ile observes the tradition of not working with the orixas during Lent, I'm kind of on vacation from the religion until Sabado de Gloria.

Sun, April 2, 2006 - 8:36 PMOlorun Kolofe,
Lo siento Iya Gamo. I had you confused with someone else. My pai de santo is Cornelio Santos d'Ogum, who lives in Queens. His terreiro is Ile Axe Bambarucena in Sao Paolo. He's away in Brazil right now. The Candomble community in NYC isn't very active. There was a xire for Oxum in Nov 2004 but I haven't gone to any event since. I know Paulo de Logunede and Mae Mainyha d'Oxum and one ile out on Long Island but that's about it. I wish we had more xires here.

Thank you for your nice compliment. I will pass them on to Iya Denise :)
It was awesome to meet you and spend the Oshun birthday alongside with you. Your voice in your prayers was electric for sure! I will always have the memory of that day and the soulful conversation afterwards engraved in my mind with all the goodness that it came with :)
Take Care!
P.S. (That woman is like a man comment just cracked me up) -

It was a pleasure to meet you too!!! i am happy that we could exchange things important for both our growth and well being..
Axe passes along the prayersand the word.., and this is why it is important to tlak loud and clear..
but this does not mean that Orixa is deaf or hard of hearing LOLL
In my house nobody gets up without washing his mouth with water and praise orixa firt thing then we can talk to others..
Any thoughts on Axe and word guys?

Sat, April 22, 2006 - 5:26 PMMotumba and Bendicion to my elders~
Gamo - it was quite lovely seeing you there- I am sad you are moving to Atlanta, but so thankful to have spent some time with you in person first! I know my godfather LOVED having you there....
As per word and ashé, this is why prayers should be said out loud to me- thoughts are one thing, but voicing those thoughts and bearing witness to the thought itself it powerful. There is so much aché in the word- in the tongue- while I respect anyone who prays at an orisha altar- I am always so deeply moved when the person speaks loud enough for their prayers to be heard by those present and allows those in the room to participate in their prayer. I especially like it when someone goes through Yoruba, Castillian Spanish and English verisons of their prayer, even if it takes a little longer time.
As always, a pleasure~

I had a ball, and was very honored to be there with your elders.. it was a treat spitually and cunilarily... sigh....
I believe that there is a story about EXU blowing Axe through his mouth or something along those lines... ask around with your elders..
