This tribe should function as a clearinghouse and network for people in the Bay Area who (1) want to prepare intelligently and compassionately prior to experiencing a regional disaster, and (2) who wish to do their preparation in the context of everyday community building, reaching beyond the normal parameters of race, culture, economic status, immediate neighborhood, etc. to create an ongoing web of caring that can be enjoyed, nurtured and grown, and even relied upon in the event of an emergency. We want to create and support networks of real people who meet to do their planning together.
We especially welcome postings from people with disaster preparedness training and experience, community organizing of all kinds, special skills and information about food storage, triage, long range sustainability issues, collective action and organizing, etc.
This is frankly a progressive, "peace love" kind of an effort, and gun-toting survivalists will probably want to go elsewhere.
