Caregivers have the hardest job. I am still working full time, taking care of my husband, kids, and everything else to go with it. Please keep my family in your prayers that my husband will get an opportunity to receive more post acute stroke rehab in Erie, PA. We are awaiting approval. It will be 2 years in September since my husbands massive stroke. His stroke was due to bacterial endocarditis, which came from infected mosquito bites. (staph MRSA) He now is permanently disabled expressive aphasia, blindness in both eyes, and right side paralysis. He takes 3 pills a day. One for seizures, depression, and spasms. I feel like it is so unfair, but I guess God has a plan. Thank you for this tribe site. Cheryl

Re: No clocking out with this job
Sun, July 6, 2008 - 11:14 AMTake care of yourself first. Get rest when you can, and drink a lot of water. Start using the words "respite care" as much as you can and find someone to give you an occasional day off. Blessed be.

Re: No clocking out with this job
Sun, July 6, 2008 - 1:38 PMThank you for your support. I dance 2 nights a week with a troupe, and it is my outlet. They are my little family that keeps my mind off of my caregiving duties. My best friend is here with my hubby while I go. Our boys are 14 and 12, and they help out TREMENDOUSLY. They have had to grow up real fast. I think back to when my husband was a total lift. My 11 year old at the time was the one helping me lift him. My now 12 yr old son is 5'7 and 185 lbs. THANK GOD. The boys are tall and big like their daddy. God bless you all for being here for support. I need an ear at times. We all do.
