This was one of the best Casbah Lounge shows ever and I thank each of you!
I work hard to ensure the audience has a good variety of Middle Eastern dance acts to enjoy and last night was definately no exception. From Bhangra to Oriental Fusion to live musicians - we had it all. It was one of our finest yet!
As most of you know, my guidelines for the show include Middle Eastern influenced music only - so I really appreciate each one of you who work so hard to stay within those parameters and respect my preference. It is always a surprise the variety of music we can experience even while staying within the Middle Eastern genre.
That said, remember that December is "Alternative Music Night" at the Casbah Lounge. Any music that is non-profane and appropriate for all audiences is excepted and welcome that night! I can’t wait to see what ya’ll whip up.
Special thanks to all those who participated in the Shimmy Off! It was a lot of giggly fun. Great job to Bo for being our Sultana of the Shimmy (and thanks for being such a great sport and wearing the tiara all night. That really made me smile!)
The support everyone shows for this event and for the charitable causes associated with these events is remarkable. I’ll post a final count on our fundraising efforts on Wednesday, but I have a good feeling it a success.
Thank you.
Peace,
Vahana

Re: One of our best!
Sun, August 24, 2008 - 4:54 PMI was very sorry to have missed it. My friend and I drove up there to see the show, but we weren't able to stay because we were told it was a 21 and over event, and my friend had her 5-year old daughter with her. I wish I had known it was only 21 and over allowed, but I had absolutely no idea. I didn't recall you, or anyone else, saying that it was, and I really don't understand why when it's a belly dance event?? Every event I've been to was family-friendly, so I was very surprised. My friend and I didn't understand, because it doesn't even have a sign on the outside of the building saying it's 21 and over. We thought it was just an event held at a chocolate shop. Guess I was wrong...:( -

Re: One of our best!
Sun, August 24, 2008 - 8:01 PMIt's okay, Vahana. I don't blame you. I was just surprised that I never saw anything said about it being only for those 21 and over. I was even more surprised to go there and not see a sign or anything on the building about it. I didn't think it was a bar, is it? We just couldn't understand why kids wouldn't be allowed if it was just a harmless 'ol belly dance event! I was very disappointed about not being able to watch it (I didn't feel right watching it and leaving my friend when she couldn't go in because of her daughter), but it's okay. Now I know. No worries. :) -
