I have a fourteen year old male, black cat named Rackadoo and I wish to introduce a kitten friend into his life. I was walking the other day and came upon an elderly woman who had five kittens. Her name was Deloris. I was able to photograph just one of the five playing in her garden before I ran out of film and have decided to attain this cat and name it "Smart-Dog". How should I introduce Rackadoo to Smart-Dog? I live alone and every night when I come home from work Rackadoo is crying since he's just spent the entire day by himself. Another option is to get a live in girlfriend but I don't see that happening.

Re: The Rackadoo and Smart-Dog show...
Wed, May 23, 2007 - 2:16 PMI think getting a friend for Rackadoo is a good idea. He will be pissy for a few days, but I think it's easier introducing a kitten than a full grown cat. I think it's less intimidating for the older one, and they get to keep being the boss from day one--- no establishing a new pecking-order kind of thing. As far as introducing them, I don't really know of an easy way. You may want to keep them separate during the times you're not there for the first few days, but other than that they will just work it out with a lot of hissing and dirty looks. Before long they will be friends and hopefully Smart-Dog will bring out the kitten in Rackadoo again! Good luck. -

Re: The Rackadoo and Smart-Dog show...
Thu, May 24, 2007 - 5:52 PMThanks for the well wishes. I figure a kitten will also expand Rackadoo's lifespan . Three weeks until Smart Dog arrives and I've already set up a place for him so Rackadoo knows a new addition to the family will come soon.

Re: The Rackadoo and Smart-Dog show...
Wed, May 23, 2007 - 5:06 PMyo ho ho. because of who you are, i have a feeling, you wont be having any problems introducing them. if you do, put smart dog in the bathroom and let rackadoo smell her for a bit. like half a day. if you have a carrying case you can put her in there too for rackadoo to see and smell.
you could always try a robot dog or cat...instead of the live in stay home all day girlfriend. :) -

Re: The Rackadoo and Smart-Dog show...
Thu, May 24, 2007 - 5:57 PMI don't get along well with robots. They are sexy though. I never said stay home all day. Rackadoo and I would hate her if she did. Regardless Smart Dog is coming soon and I had a dream that I got to take her earlier than the three weeks. A glorious dream. I awoke to find myself in a puddle of happiness. Uhhh... thats a metaphor.
