O.K., I know this is weird, but . . .

do any of y'all actually go out of your way to try to smell your cat's breath? Hi. I'm Misha, and I'm a cat addict. O.K., so for some reason I've had this strange compulsion over the past couple of months to get REAL close to my kitty, Violet, when she yawns so I can smell her sweet baby-cat breath. I also find it quite amusing to see the look of shocked surprise she always gets when she closes her mouth after a face-splitting yawn and finds me right there, almost nose-to-nose with her! Tee hee! :o) She always looks very perplexed when I ask her how on *earth* her breath smells like fish when she's allergic to fish, and probably hasn't actually eaten any for, oh, like 8 years. Some mysteries we'll never know, like why their toe-beans are just so perfectly formed, or why sometimes they act as if your hands are poisonous, and that being petted by you is a complete affront, and that our disgusting scent needs to be licked off IMMEDIATELY . . . Furry little buttheads - how can you not love them?!?

OMG! I thought I was the only one who loved the smell of cat breath. I am so happy I am not alone! I especially like to inhale as she washes her coat! I call it “eau de cat!” Sweet breath is a sign of good health. Bad breath could indicate dental or other health problems. I have done much reading about cat health, behavior, etc. There is a special enzyme in cat saliva that really does clean. Nothing smells as good as a clean healthy cat – so, go ahead – take a sniff!!!!

I thought my cat was the only one who had to take a complete bath just because I petted her (I am a clean person)!! It is so insulting! I guess we humans do not smell as good to cats as they do to us!

Yeah I loved the smell of my cat when she would wash herself. A couple years after she died, I found her old sleeping pillow. I put my face in it and breathed deeply, and sure enough I smelled my Lucy's special smell. Kind of like when you're little, ya know that mommy smell? It made me miss her so much but it was a comfort.

Yah! I loved the toe-beans thing too...lol They are just so perfect and soft.

Nothin so nice as that clean cat smell, I think, to bury my face in my kitty....ummm..did that sound...right?....lol

And what's with that butt thing? They can bath for half an hour if you touch'em but they still gotta leave those Cling-Ons around their butt! Cat perfume?? At least the dog loves stickin her nose up the cats butts...so it's not totally unappreciated.

And is it only my cats that give me the head butt greeting first and then swap ends as in "here-smell-my-butt"? I've never taken them up on it....when are they gonna stop?

Yeah, our guy seems to think it's great to get the butt end in there too. When it's bedtime, I sleep on the right and my hubby sleeps on the left. Buddy always comes comes up the middle of the bed to stomp my gut with his front feet leaving his less desirable end pointed directly at my hubby's head! <><

And there is nothing cuter than kitty toes, Soso does not like for me to touch his feet but Stormy likes her feet massaged , she is such a princess = ) .

hi mischa, i'm kimmie and i'm a cat addict.

i always kiss my kitties right smack on their little kitty lips or noses and catch a whif of their little kitty breaths. a couple of them kiss me right back. but i'm a paw girl and a belly girl. i LOVE to kiss their little paw pads. some of them like it. some of them don't. some of them will spread their little furry toes and let me rub in between their little kitty toes.

and the bellies! who can resist a soft furry kitty belly? and i love the smell of kitties, their fur. a couple of my kitties a big purr monsters so i like to put my ear on their bellies when they purr. that must be what it's like to be a kitten in the womb. so relaxing.

      Oh the belly thing---yahhh.

I have read, and now understand that a cat, showing us his belly, and allowing us even to touch it--is the highest form of trust. Their belies are their most vulnerable part and they know it...so when he lets you rub his belly...ho ho..even put your head on it--he is letting you know that he trusts you not to hurt him.

yeah, i read that too. i dig it when shelter kitties do that when i'm working with them. that means they are opening up and that makes them more adoptable.

plus, kitty bellies are just the best! so soft and warm. i have one really fluffy kitty who lays with her belly wide open in front of a floor fan in the summer. it's the cutest thing.

Pussem just yawned in my direction and l got an aroma of salmon, trout, tuna and shrimp 'Cat Crunchies' - a powerful combination!

l agree, kitty feet are lovely. He likes me to hold one of his velvety front paws when he's on my lap and even tries to grip my fingers. Not so keen on having his back paws touched though.

Ah! Nothing beats running your nose through the fur of a sun-baked cat!

I LOVE cat tummy!!! I tickle my baby Huey's tummy all the time, but he still allows me to bury my face in there and kiss it.

Lol Eden I would love to be able to bury my face in kitty tummy but I would end up with lacerations and possibly missing an ear or 2 = ) .

            lol!

Yeah my first cat Lucy HATED to have her tummy rubbed, touched, kissed, anything. If you even rubbed her fur the wrong way she got pissed. Maybe I just trained my cats to love having their tummies messed with, because I did it so much as kittens. I'm actually surprised they know the difference between when i'm "play-attacking" their tummies (and they shortly commence with the bunny kicking and whatnot) and when I'm just kissing so they lick the side of my face. :)

I used to have a cat who smelled Sooooo good! It was almost like flowers! Maybe not his breath (he had bad teeth) but his fur was yummy!

Maybe your cat had a patch of flowers or something he sat in a lot.

One of my cats' fur smells like my boyfriend's shaving cream. The cat likes to sit on his shoulder and PURRRRRR at every available opportunity, and in the morning when he comes down for breakfast is prime snuggle time (especially as we've been trying to keep the bedroom feline-free due to his allergies).

I swear that cat has been waiting for my boyfriend all his life.

This is along the same lines and I just can't figure it out. Why is it that my cat's breath reeks like fish and I don't like it all, yet when she bathes herself her fur doesn't smell like fish?!?! I don't get it! How can this be?!

Surprisingly enough if you look into the ingredients on your cats food bag you'll find fish byproducts on there.

Letting your cat eat fish food (if eaten accidentally) isnt work panicking over. It's just dried fish meal and invertebrate flake - similar to any 'fish' by product that is offered in most cat foods. I always let my cat have a pinch of fish food but it was food I made for my saltwater fish out of fresh seafood bits (shrimp, crab, scallop etc).

Yes, my pets eat better than I do.
