We recently moved from a rather spacious 2-bedroom apartment into a one bedroom and discovered that there was absolutely no convenient place to put a litterbox. Having discussed the concept for several years, my fiance and I decided it was time to train our cats to use the toilet. I was wondering if anyone else has tried, and how successful was it? I'm also curious how long your cats took at each stage and what challenges sprang up? So far, the kids have adjusted to the new, strange litter pan, and we're about to move it up onto the toilet. It's going to be an exciting adventure for us all in the next few months...

Re: have you toilet trained your cat?

so far, so good!
Thu, January 17, 2008 - 1:06 PMWell, so far, we are using the second (middle step) tray that has a hole in the middle, but plenty of room to stand on. We consistenly have kitty poop in the toilet. They still pee inot the litter, but they both have great form. I expect in a couple weeks, we'll be moving to the third tray, which has the tiniest lip for unbalanced feet, and a large hole in the middle. I expected my siamese mix (who does not deal well with change) to resist this, but she seems to have taken to it much faster than our larger, more adventurous boy. Perhaps I'll get pics at some point... I'm sure they'll love that!
