July 15-19th....

I know that this is a ways out for most schedulers, but that's just me.... One fire-spinning belly dancer and one rhythm-addicted drummer are vacationing with a few pre-teens to the Corpus Christi area, and were wondering if there were any peeps interested in blobbing together for some beach time fun..........

She is the Producer for Vesuvius Fire Tribe, and he is the Organizer for Drum Tribe KC. The kids belong to us, and they are coming along to keep memmories!!!

We tentatively plan on camping out at Mustang Island State Park, but will be free to venture in the day time.....Got any ideas?

This multi-level workshop will outline two tribal fusion combinations emphasizing technique and isolation. The first
combination will incorporate the building blocks of UNMATA's modern bellydance style. The second combination will focus primarily on the Hula Fusion nuance.Each movement will be outlined within a tribal cueing system so that it may be added to any troupe's choreography or tribal vocabulary. Amy will describe and drill each individual movement,then fasten them together into an accessible tribal combo that will be practiced in useful group and duet formations.
This workshop will be fun, fast, and furious. UNMATA believes in beat-your-butt technical practice, so bring water and come prepared to sweat.

Amy's Art of Overlay is at the heart of this intermediate toadvanced bellydance workshop aimed to add expressive layers and distinction to your dance style. Although controlled simultaneous movement is a complex idea, this class provides a simple approach certain to bring impressive results.Beginning with a thorough breakdown of basic isolation technique, Amy will expand such elements as core strength and relaxed tension, and then demonstrate helpful exercises that are necessary to develop an awareness needed to isolate key muscle groups. Then she will teach and drill an isolation combo that incorporates the artistic flare unique to Amy Sigil and UNMATA.

Because this class is designed for the intermediate to advanced dancer, a sufficient understanding of balance and timing is prerequisite.

If you were at 3rd Coast's Saturday night show.... you saw this number - you saw how HAWT it was... and you saw the brilliant choreography and how cohesive it appeared on stage... complete with amazingly smooth formation changes and so much more! If you weren't there.. you'll just
have to believe us when we tell ya!

I am hear to say that we were soo WOW'd that we are bringing the Anahata ladies to Houston to PARTY and to TEACH that very same choreography!!!

Come one come all...... the cost is $55.00 for 4 hours of workshop .....
WHEN: Saturday Jan 27th.. 1pm to 6pm ( with an hour break for lunch)

AND then stay for the music (and more) with Beans Barton the Bi-Peds take the stage at 10pm. It'll be an all out bellydancer throw down party!
I'd say... bring a kazoo if you have one - and maybe even wear a tutu! You never know what might happen there... and it's always fun.

FYI - ALSO - I understand that it is now a non-smoking show - so that's a bonus for those sensitive to the smoke! For those that do smoke - there is a great big backyard to hang out in...

Troupe Synchronicity

What can you do to make different body types, different strength levels, long legs, short legs, long torsos, short torsos ALL look enough alike to paint a total picture and not distract from the whole?? 20+ years of choreography-based instruction has helped Karen figure out what to concentrate on and what to punt!! Come learn some of the exercises and movement distinctions that Karen uses to keep the Karavan dancers together.

** Kombos w/ Traveling Steps

Drillz to Kombos: Karen will make sure these are two hours of constant movement by teaching some of the more intricate and interesting traveling combinations from her recent choreographies. While the details of the kombos will be explained, this section of the workshop is intended to move at a faster pace!!!

** This class will be on par with a Master Class ... but many aspects of the movements taught will be reachable for those not quite so experienced!

Karen will be performing in a local club Sat night.... call it a night out for dinner and a show!

Bellydancers and Drummers Needed

Anyone willing to come out to san antonio for a good cause? Details arent quite in full detail as of yet. But what I do know is that the event is sometime in October. This is to raise awareness of the need of the arts in schools. This particularly is needed at Woodlawn Elementary. As they dont not have art classes available for them. This one day event will help bring the community together and let them know the importance of the arts in our childrens lives and in our community. If you can spare your time and volunteer an hour of your time please let me know ASAP. I will keep you updated as the event gets closer as what is needed. Thank you to any future responses.

PURE Help

Hi Ladies,

We are looking for a few volunteers to help with the PURE event in Houston this weekend. If you can help, I am leaving Friday evening, and I can provide a ride, accomadations, and a bit of breakfeast and I can have you back in time for Saturday night Spooktacular activities here in town. I would be thrilled if you can help out.

and Layla Isis, to the live music of Afro Latin World Beat band, "Yerba
Buena" tonight, Wednesday 20th, on the "Late Night show with Conan
O'Brien" on NBC. Airs at 12.35 E/T and 11.35pm P/T.

Great Time

We had a great time in Houston, we were thrilled to help out and look forward to helping out in the future. Not sure about the rehearsal schedule but we will do our best when we can.

Corpus dancers coming to PURE in Houston

Ladies....

Thank you so much for coming to Houston to be a part of the national procession on the 17th.

Your help is so much appreciated!

I know some of you are interested in dancing with us in the future.... it's quite a commute... we can all make it work. Then I know it won't be long before you have e'nuff interest in Corpus you will have your own branch! That will be 3 PURE branches in Texas... then we will ALL have to get together sometime.

PURE is really a wonderful project. I can't wait to see how the public reacts tomorrow.
