Re: Your top 3 favorite songs by The Who
Fri, March 18, 2005 - 8:24 PMIts so hard to pick my favorite, I like most of their songs. Behind Blue eyes would have bene my 4th pick. Squeeze box freaked me out at first, but I have gotten used to it. Good choices. -

Fri, March 18, 2005 - 10:49 PMI'd have to say 'Behind Blue Eyes', 'The Kids Are Alright', and 'Baba O'Riley'. -

Re: Your top 3 favorite songs by The Who
Fri, March 18, 2005 - 10:52 PMI think it's funny of how some people think Baba O'Riley is called Teenage wasteland. *yawn* -

Re: Your top 3 favorite songs by The Who
Sun, March 20, 2005 - 6:30 PMLOL yeah the exact same thing happend to me as well, they were 100% sure that it was called that. I bet a lot of money, and then they realized that I was sure, and therefore did not bet anything. Intimidation makes people see differently. -

Re: Your top 3 favorite songs by The Who
Sun, March 20, 2005 - 6:37 PMThe argument these folks normally use is, "But he doesn't say 'Baba O'Riley' anywhere in the song!" ;) -
-
Re: Your top 3 favorite songs by The Who
Sun, March 20, 2005 - 7:24 PMit's funny cause it's true! but those are the songs that I find unique. Since not many people know the name of the song unless they are a big fan of that music. -

Re: Your top 3 favorite songs by The Who
Sun, March 20, 2005 - 8:29 PMI always liked the way Led Zeppelin gave their songs titles that had little or nothing to do with the lyrics :) Growing up, I felt like they were MY band while everyone else was listening to whichever "Oh Baby I Love You" song was on the charts that week. -

Re: Your top 3 favorite songs by The Who
Sun, March 20, 2005 - 9:41 PMyeah thats great, although there are some artists that take it a little too far, like Aphex Twin, some are just radom numbers, kinda strange. -

I Can See for Miles...
dang - it's hard to pick -

Re: Your top 3 favorite songs by The Who
Wed, March 23, 2005 - 6:45 PMI just love "A Quick one while he's away", longer is definatley better when it comes to that song. I know all of the words, and giggle everytime the verse "I must admit, I kissed a few, and once did sit, on Iver the engine drivers lap". All of the songs tied in together perfectly creating a twisted episode. Keith Moon goes nuts on the drums (as usual), and Roger Daltry has wicked abs and tassles. *sigh* if only I was there. -

Tue, April 12, 2005 - 12:35 AMBEhind Blue eyes used to be my favorite, but ever since hearing Limp Bizkit's version I have veered away from it, cause it's all I hear and the people I hang out with only know that song from Limp *sigh*, makes me sick. -

Re: Your top 3 favorite songs by The Who
Wed, April 20, 2005 - 1:16 PMI just went to a groovy party where some friend of mine are in a band, and all night we just played and sang Rock & Roll, and I ended up singing Behind Blue Eyes...it brought me back...*sigh* so much that I am trying to put ol' Fred Durst's version behind me, and embrace the real song again. You'd be amazed of how singing certain songs can bring you closer to them. -

Really, I could simply list Tommy as one and Quadrophenia as one. They're practically one song with different movements since they're operas, but I'll play by the rules anyway. -

Sat, October 22, 2005 - 9:58 PM"1921" is a great choice--I really like that song but, for whatever reason, it didn't immediately spring to mind! -
-
Re: Your top 3 favorite songs by The Who
Sun, October 23, 2005 - 8:42 AMOne of the things about 1921 that jumps out at me is this lyric "somehow when you smile I can brave bad weather". It's just beautiful.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned My Generation. -

Re: Your top 3 favorite songs by The Who
Tue, April 3, 2007 - 1:28 PMMy Favs:
"Our Love Was Is"
"Someone's Coming"
"Sunrise"
I love so much of The Who's music from the early stage, up to "Sell Out" (my fav record)
So much of "Who's Next" "Tommy" "Who By Numbers".... and the other 70's disks have unfortunately been played to death
by FM radio since I was a teenager. It's still great music, I've just heard it too much.
But the early to mi-period material is timeless for me.
"Live at Leeds" I'll still love this record when I'm deep in my grave. -

Re: Your top 3 favorite songs by The Who
Fri, September 14, 2007 - 7:32 PMNew to this Tribe....and overdue. My top 3 particularly affecting Who songs:
- Summertime Blues. Went to #2 in Seattle.....right behind Perry Como's "Seattle" that week.
- Goin' Mobile. By Numbers was out when I was getting out and getting 'liberated' in High School. That LP had the magic of great tunes, dynamics and high energy. The song still fits my life.....
-Anyway/Anyhow/Anywhere. "Nothing gets in my way. Not even locked doors." What a line to project to an audience in the mid '60's! Very cool.
