a dream

It's well before 5 a.m. on a Sunday morning... and I was up. I had just had a dream.
I was at an aunt's home and it was some sort of holiday. The other relatives were odd and unfamiliar. We had just finished unwrapping presents and were packing stuff into the car. I got an old lamp without a shade, a moldy brown sweater and other assorted junk that looked as if it had come from a thrift store. I remember having a knowing that this was just last minute stuff picked up out of obligation.
I looked across the street and there were old carnival trucks and rides parked across the street. Everything was bleak and dreary. The other relatives were talking...but not to me. Above my aunt's door was the number "14". I woke knowing that on the near eve of my 44 birthday I have learned a valuable lesson. We all need to feel as if we have accomplished something. Not necessarily something physical...but in some cases something far more important. That we matter. That we have provided something significant in someone's life to a degree in which they actually take the time to acknowledge it. Do we, as a people so wrapped up in daily schedules appointments and life, now forget to acknowledge those who mean so much to us? Do we forget to make that effort? Do we tell them that we love them?
I asked my guide to tell me what this all meant. He tolled me to write it and send it on as a reminder to all. Today tell someone that you love them. Take at least the time to do that.

The question often brought up in my yoga class is "You have 5 days to live, how are you going to spend it?" Nine times out of ten the answer is "To spend more time with loved ones" (there are other answers of course) The next question is "What's stopping you?" Don't wait until it's too late to tell someone you love them. Unfortunatly some of us had to learn this the hard way.

I'm going to call my Dad now.

    Happy Birthday Jeff!
