Double-standard dystopia

I've noticed that when I say something certain people find offensive, I'm required to shut the fuck up. But when those same people say things that are offensive to me, they tell me to grow up and deal with it. Now here's the stupid question of the moment: Why is that the case? One possible answer is that we live in a double-standard dystopia. Even though it's been said that there is no Constituional right NOT to be offended, most folks think that such a nonexistent right exists and that "right "applies to them and no one else. You know, I hate the shit out of being offended. But as long as the right not to be offended applis to all, then I say being offended is worth that broad level of equality. But of course in a double-standard dystopia, equality doesn't matter. And free speech only applies to certain people.

Ah, yes. Your are in good company in this observation. Sir Winston Churchill said: "Everybody is in favor of free speech. Hardly a day passes without its being extolled, but some people’s idea of it is that they are free to say what they like, but if anyone says anything back, that is an outrage."

Okay Yul just playing devil's advocate here. So do you think it is okay for me to call you something terrible and racist as long as it you are allowed to call me a taquito sucking faggot? (and yes I am Mexican, and yes I am queer)

For the sake of consistency, I wouls say it's OK for you to call me something terrible and racist. I'd hate the shit out of it, but at least it would be a consistent policy. And I'm obsessed with consistency!
