You know a city is dying when it loses its artists.....
Artists are the soul of America and perhaps the world...
"Artist" is a code-word for SHAMAN, a human who Bridges the Worlds....
Making Art is perhaps the most Socially Acceptable way of dealing with navigating that Crack Between the Worlds, and coming back, hopefully intact, grounded, and Ready to Deal With Reality!

I never did anything for which I could be called an 'artist' in SF.

Then again, I never had a chance to, did I?

Most "artists" are self important hacks with no skill other than self promotion and a trust fund.

What SF needs is industry and commerce so they can create more rich parents to support bad art.

I say the above as someone who creates beautiful things and has dated real artists who actually made a living making art and gave it up because they couldn't stand the art world.

Prize goes to anybody who finds a cure for Cynicism. One year's worth of free Art School!
Gee, I'll probably regret having asked. What do you consider "bad art"? (Let me guess, anything that you or your real artist friends haven't painted or drawn....)
When you forgive those whom you think make bad art, you get a free orgasm. A real trembler. Enough to make your toes curl.
The same goes to any former worker for Bush and Co. who realizes the error of their ways, defects from that government, and shows up to help clean up the mess they made.
I am an artist at making love and saving the world.
But I can't save you from bad attitudes. I have my hands full with dealing with my "stuff" as it is.

It's easier to 'be an artist' at least, if you have a time and place to produce art.

SF is not the place and doesn't often allow the time.

sorry you don't have the time or the place. It used to be alot easier "to be an artist" here.
I know plenty of different artists though. It can be done

If making art is that important to you, you MAKE the time and you FIND the place, regardless of how broke you may be or how hard times get or what kind of time crunch you face.
Trust me..... being bitter over external challenges does NOT help an artist.... I'm an artist who's been in that space.....
Make Art, Not Excuses. Make Love, Too, If You Want.....
