I used to go to Chinatown back in NYC all the time, and they had pretty inexpensive back massage places there--does anyone know of any places in SF that they like to go to (and which aren't too sketchy)?

The one in Emeryville lists the hours!

Re: cheap massage places?
Tue, January 31, 2006 - 9:58 AMMost massage schools have "student days" where students are required to attend and work/practice on the public as part of their requirements. For the public, you get a discounted price, very sweet.
I know the World School of Massage in SF does it every month. You can call or they post flyers outside their door, if you are in the neighborhood. It use to be around $40 for an hour, probably still is. www.worldschoolmassage.com
As a side, massage is hard physical work which is why many therapists, like myself, charge higher prices. Although, I may point out that many therapists have sliding scale rates, so you should inquire. You can find therapists here on Tribe or on craigslist under the therapeutic section.
Other options include chair massage. Many places offer this and it usually runs around $1 a minute. I think one of the Whole Foods offers chair massage, Macy's and the Sacred Space Healing Center in lower haight has it, www.sacredspace-sf.com.
Anyway, there are some options for you to consider.
Best of health to you,
Rodney
