The next is scheduled for August 25th- check it out, bring a picnic and a couple of beers, get rid of your old stuff, and maybe walk away with a couple of rad t-shirts and a styx cd like i did.

And where else should I do this than at the SF Ballet which has become one of the Best Ballet Companies in the US. I wish I could afford more since there are several other performances I would like to see such as Firebird. Anyways details below. If you are interested give me a call at work! Just ask for Patricia. ;)

The 3 series subscription includes Program 1; Divertimento No. 15, Other Dances, Artifact Suite, Program 4; Spring Rounds, Chi-Lin, Eden/Eden and Program 8; Don Quixote.

Discounted Subscription Pricing:
Balconey Center $33
Balconey Circle $60
Orchestra Sides $72
Dress Circle $89

If you are interested in picking up a couple of season subscriptions just give me a call at work. My direct line number is 934-6701 and if you can not get through you can call my managers number, 934-6700 who can then transfer your call to me, Patricia. I can tell you all the extra details about the subscription. I'll be in on sunday 4-8 and then Tuesday thru Thursday 5-9.

Also goto http://www.sfballet.org/performancestickets/season.asp for info on the programs.

Side Note:
Just so you know I make $8.82 an hour and we are paid a small bonus on our subscriptions. I'm not getting rich off of this or anything.

With the follow up to Desyn Masiello's legendary and award-winning Balance 008 album, Paolo Mojo stops being an "up-and-coming star" and moves into the upper echelons of today's DJ talent. Paolo completely crushes all genres with this mix and makes it likely to be the best album of this year, if not longer. This two-disc album doesn't ask you if you want to dance, it just makes you. From tribal drums, tech house, robotic sound effects, and everything in between, Paolo doesn't follow the typical recipe for a compilation album. This release will send Paolo to the international superstar ranks.

I'm from a suburban area, so I'm used to places like Wal-Mart, which I'm glad doesn't have a presence in San Francisco. So, where is a cheap place to buy stuff like shower curtains, food, school supplies, and other household stuff? I'll be living in the outer sunset, so bonus points if it's close. I do have a car, though, and I'm not averse to traveling a bit. Are there any dollar store-type places? I love cooking Indian and Thai food. What are your favorite places for deals on international foods?

For years I lived next to Dolores Park, and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence put on the best parties!!! I always encourage everyone to see this at least once - and it's kid friendly!

Here are the details from their website:

16 April 2006
The Sisters' 27th Anniversary Celebration
"Perpetual Indulgence" in the Park
Continuing their mission to promulgate Universal Joy, the Sisters are proud to announce "Perpetual Indulgence" in the Park, an Easter picnic and celebration. This very San Francisco event brings together children, families, friends, artists and community activists all on one lawn to celebrate the Sisters' 27th Anniversary and enjoy a day in Dolores Park. This event is free to the public. "Perpetual Indulgence" in the Park promises to be lively and vivacious incorporating stage performances, children's activities and two cash-prize contests. (Performers TBA)

Sister MaryMae, this year's chair of "Perpetual Indulgence" in the Park, says "We have all of the old favorites, the Hunky Jesus Contest, the Bonnet Contest, Grants Giveaways and Saintings, but we are planning a lot of surprises and fun new tricks. The best thing about the Sisters' Birthday Celebration is that there is something for everyone. It's a true family day, from the kids events in the morning, picnicking in the park and ending with the more risqué things like the Hunky Jesus and Bonnet Contests. It's one of the few times you really can make everyone happy."

At 1p, participants will line up to parade across the stage in their Easter finest for our Bonnet Contest. Later, at 3:15p, this year's Hunky Jesus will be chosen. Both winners will receive a $100 cash prize.

In addition to providing an afternoon of merriment, the Sisters also hope to raise money for a whole year of grants awards.
Thursday, March 16 @ 2PM
SAN FRANCISCO CITY HALL, ROOM 416
---------------------------------------------------------------

Recently, the San Francisco Recreation & Park Commission drafted new sound restrictions for Sharon Meadows in Golden Gate Park (ie: "Hippy Hill" where "Reggae Fest" and "Alice, Now & Zen" take place). On Thursday, March 16, the Commission will meet to hear public comment on the drafted regulations.

Sunset Promotions is asking all those who LOVE OUTDOOR MUSIC FESTIVALS to attend this meeting and make your voice clearly heard.

We believe that these new regulations, though created by well-meaning and rational public officials, are unduly restrictive on ongoing outdoor music operationsin Sharon Meadow (specific objections below) and could set a bad precedent for ongoing music festivals throughout the city.

We are asking as many of that can, to please go to the Park & Rec hearing and say something as simple as...
"I support ongoing live music in Sharon Meadow and believe that local music festivals should be free to book and produce the music THEY feel is best for their artistic vision. I oppose additional fee increases, sound restrictions, and forcing Festivals to pay for the extra technicians that the new rules demand."
We have the following objections:

* The End of Rock: The new restrictions of decibel levels between 96 and 102 db basically outlaws any music other than acoustic, or classical. This would be a TRAVESTY in the meadow where Jefferson Airplane, Santana, Janis Joplin, and the Grateful Dead first made their voices heard, not to mention BB King, Maceo Parker, Jimmy Cliff, Steel Pulse etc. It is not up to public officials to REGULATE TASTE and this sound level does exactly that.
* We're Paying for Golfers? It was widely reported recently that Park & Rec is facing a severe budget crisis due to losses suffered at their golf courses. Thus it is drastically hiking its fees on Music Events to help make up for the budget shortfall. Music Festivals are the city's most positive economic and cultural events and should not have to pay golfers greens fees.
* End of the Small Festival: Festivals are being charged for "Maximum Occupancy" of the site, whether 12000 people show up or 500. This means that only big companies with huge budgets will be able to afford to produce events here, ending such beautiful free grass roots affairs as Comedy in the Park.
* What's so BAD About Music?: All music must end at 5pm ANYWAY, so why the additional restrictions? Because one, seriously ONE neighbor, who dislikes anything but opera has been on a personal crusade to curtail live music in "his favorite portion of the park". This personal crusade is about to overshadow the thousands who like to gather and enjoy music in public spaces. NO WAY. MUSIC IS GOOD. Reasonable people need to RESTATE THIS DEBATE. We should be making it EASIER for little people to put on events that have big cultural and artistic significance.
* Needless Additional Costly Beaurocracy: The new regulations demand that several "sound technicians" be on hand to constantly monitor the sound levels, a cost that the festivals will need to cover. This excessive over-regulation of art is also so expensive that it will probably put several existing Sharon Meadow events OUT OF BUSINESS.

There's this great service that I've been using that keeps me up to date on local events and always at discounted prices if you're a member. It costs nothing to be a member, btu the discounts are generally pretty good. Caught several plays using this service and have been even happy w/the quality of the seats (which I was most worried about).

Checking out their home page this morning, I'm seeing 3 cool performances w/member prices averaging 50% off the regular full price.
