Hi Michelle
I think there is a real gap in the tribal fusion DVD market. There are some excellent drills DVDs out for anyone fairly new to tribal fusion style, but I can't find anything that will help me progress from being able to drill the moves to actually being able to dance tribal style. There are a number of DVDs with combinations or choreographies, but they mostly try so hard to come up with tricky and unusual combinations that they just don't quite work. There doesn't seem to be anything in between drilling individual moves and doing quite complex combinations.
The closest I have seen is a section at the end of Rachel Brice's arms DVD where she strings 4 moves together into a very simple combination that she drills for a while. This is exactly what I'm looking for - simple combinations that help to transition from one move to another and get you actually dancing tribal style. But its very short, only about 5 minutes. I would love to see a whole DVD along those lines.
I read in one of the other posts that you have been working with the Indigo on a performance DVD, which I am really looking forward to. I would love to see you work with any of these dancers on an instructional DVD. I know they already have instructional DVDs out, but the Bellydance Superstars label has an unfortunate habit of putting out fairly ordinary DVDs from fabulous dancers. I am sure that if you combined your understanding of what we all want in an instructional DVD with the talent that these dancers have it would result in a brilliant DVD.
