Michelle,
I was looking through your bio on you website and noticed that you were trained by Sema yildiz!! I've seen several youtube clips and love her turkish oriental and (especially) her romany dance. Ever thought of sharing a little bit of this knowledge or creating a set of videos on turkish bellydance?I'm certain it would be a success, as there are very few turkish instructionals in the bellydance market. I can only think of artemis' Iamed dvds, Dahlena's american karshilima, and Sarah Skinner's am-cab/turkish dvd. The market seems to be dominated by egyptian/american-egyptian and tribal/fusion styles.

Aradia would be great for orietale and Elizabeth strong for Rom. Artemis would be wonderful too but i think she may be working on her own series of turkish instructionals. At least, that is what her website says.

Eva Cernick! She is the best teacher, and has no instructional dvd's out. Such a waste!

          I think so too..
I am curious for her style, she s soo famous.
As for Turkish, I love the style, but there s not much "good" one out there I ve seen.
I know Turkish better than Arabic (which is not so hard given my Arabic :)) ) , and am in a Turkish community family-wise, so I ve grown pretty close to the culture,
as for Turkish bellydance I find a lot out there pretty disappointing.. the dancers on Turkish television in many cases are so-so (not a huge fan of Didem nor Asena, to be honest), and a lot of the "Turkish" style in America is pretty much of a fantasy.. not that it s not interesting, but I was always puzzled by the skirt dance which looked so much more hispanic than anything Turkish to me when I saw it..
Judging from an article by Elizabeth Artemis Murat there were misunderstandings in the reception of this style some 30 yrs ago in the US, where ppl made a fantasy dance and others believed it was typically Turkish.. I d love to see authenticity, if that s doable at all... :)
