Calling all Burning Artists!
Wanted to give y'all a little advance notice about something exciting we have brewing.
On behalf of the Steering Committee and the Art Grant Committee of BURN-Burning Man Chicago, I am pleased to announce the debut of our art grant program intended to help artists defray the costs of creating and presenting art at Burning Man-related events.
For calendar year 2009, we will be awarding art grants in two cycles: Winter and Summer. Grants for Winter 2009 will be aimed at art for Resonate 4.0, which is slated for late March. The dates for the Summer Grant Cycle will be announced after the first cycle is in full swing. Grants will be awarded in amounts from $50 to $500 and are intended only as supplementary funding to help you build and transport your art.
So, put on those creative thinking beanies and get crackin'! The online grant application will be released on Sunday, February 1, 2009, with a deadline of February 15th. We'll need information on your inspiration, vision, execution, safety and LNT plans for your project. You will also need to submit a detailed budget and project schedule.
Now start wrangling those ideas you've got swirling around that noggin of yours and keep an eye out on the lists for more announcements… including one for a Meet & Greet in early February where you can find out more about the program and obtain hardcopy applications, although we prefer you submit your application materials via email.
