Church History: Good, Bad, and Ugly

moderated - created 08/28/06
I'm not a church historian (-I don't even play one on TV). Recently, however, I'm interested in learning more about the history of Christianity in the West, its influence especially in the arts and sciences, and with the question: what is a thoughtful person make of all this?
I am a man of strong opinions yet one open to persuasion to a more reasonable point of view. I'm not here to push any confessional agenda (or to belittle one). I want to learn the truth as best I can and integrate it into the other categories of knowledge that shape my living.
