Hey everyone!
As I stated in the Faerieworlds tribe this will be my boyfriend and my first time at FW. We are both very excited to be apart of something so amazing and the opportunity to meet new people. We are staying at QC and had a quick question for others that will be staying there as well.
Neither the boy or I smoke really, it just isn't our thing. We do however indulge in hookah, and have a travel sized one that we were planning on bringing. It would strictly have shisha in it nothing else, and we are more than willing to pass the hoses around. Our concern though is that we don't want to upset the people around us. So, before we back it with us in a week and a half I wanted to make sure people were okay with it... of course I need to email the camp sight owners as well. I know there are a lot fo children around, so it's perfectly understandable if some people have a problem with the idea of having a hookah around, though really the smoke from a hookah is nothing like a cigerette and tends to evaporate in the air relatively fast.
Basically this weekend is all about enjoying ourselves and one another's company as far as I'm concerned; not bring the hookah will not hinder mine or my boyfriend's experience in any way, but I want to make sure that if we do bring it it wont hinder anyone else's.
For general information shisha has .5 percent nicotine in it, and 0 percent tar.

second...... I'm pretty sure you'll find that te only people who might tell you "no dont enjoy yourself this weekend" might be the campground people themselves. there is stuff going on that make hookah look tame.

Speaking for myself only I have no problem with your Hookah as long as
1) its not anywhere near the tent Im staying in. LOL...I know that sounds terrible but I have a lung condition thats been a real problem for me for about 3 yrs now and is only just getting better...but when Im around any kind of smoke it just kills me.
2) I think my only concern about kids is really more about older ones. and whether they'de feel like...hey! thats so cool...I want to try!
Mine are older but hopefully they wouldnt be influenced because of the way they've been brought up. I dont want to sound like a prude here in any way but in my family we deal with a LOT of health issues so Ive pounded into their heads not to take anything into their bodies that could interfere with their health any further. Including any kind of smoking.
Its my own weird thing I guess because of struggling with health issues but I just dont get doing anything that might be a detriment to your health when you're in good health and shouldnt take it for granted.
So...I could be wrong about other parents but the mama in me worries about the older kids we'll have with us (teens and twenties) who might be excited by it...
Dont decide based on my thoughts ok...wait and see what the concensus is coz I could completely be in the minority and I really dont have a huge problem with it...those are just my two honest concerns.

Sun, July 20, 2008 - 4:28 PMI say bring it, smoke wont be an issue as it tends to be contained if I remember the hook well enough and the spavce is big so there are places you can do any ol thing ya want as long as it isnt burning the place down. There is my approximate two cents maybe three. And by the way WELCOME!!! this year should be a hoot!! Glad to have you and the boyfriend on board. -

Mermaid: I completely understand your motherly instincts and concerns, my own mother and I just had a long conversation about the functions of a hookah and the differences between it and cigarettes, she isn't keen on the idea of her little activist girl who has always hated cigarettes and what they do to you smoking anything. As for teenagers; like I said neither my boyfriend or myself are against sharing though only with adults, I've never been one for influencing younger generations to do or don't do what I might do. As for yours and your families health issues that is completely understandable and we will make sure to keep it far away from you guys... that of course is based off the idea that the camp owners will have no problems with it. :)
Speaking of the camp site, I suppose I have one other question: is it just a series of large treeless fields or is it just forested acres?

i say bring it as long as the campgrounds allow it.. and if open air bothers too many, perhaps it could be done inside a tent? i know i'm an indulger of hookah as well!

Mon, July 21, 2008 - 9:16 AMsay simi, why do you feel the need to bring your hookah ? i'll bet you all will have a great time without it, and i'm sure anyone that wishes you wouldnt bring it would feel very uncomfortable to say so... so, youre assured of a 'go ahead' but i'll bet there are some people who have spent months being excited by this event that will have a slightly less wonderful time because of the hookah's presence.

Mon, July 21, 2008 - 10:00 AMFrom what Joe (Owner) told me about the camp it's a big field with not much tree coverage, and hes a great guy and I doubt he will have a problem with your hooka, he's pretty laid back as far as I can tell! Like I said just take a walk with your chairs away from hooka haters and finde a comfy circle in the feild a waya away from the camps and enjoy your self! This festival is about enjoying your self! So if your away from the close nit camping groups it's open air and breezy! Like Rowan said Hooka could and probably be the tame stuff!
