by artist Jeff Higley with the help of young people in a community art project in Bellview Park, Sudbury.
The medium is a Horse Chestnut tree which had been slated for removal due to disease. The theme of the carving celebrates both the history of Sudbury and the life of the park. This piece of the carving is a Victorian girl playing hoop and stick. She represents the children who have played in the park over the years. Her hoop is a snake with its tail in its mouth, which is a symbol of time and eternity.
