Where can you buy traps for cats, and what's a good way to lure them? Food, I suppose. Maybe tuna? Are there better ideas in process?
I was thinking it would be good to have Igloos, those outdoor houses that I have seen for dog houses. They are supposed to be really warm, for winter. I would assume they would make small ones for cats as well.
There is no vet school here in Lexington, is there?

Re: Cat Traps
Fri, April 13, 2007 - 2:07 PMI would love to create a library with live traps that can be loaned to any animal welfare organization willing to participate in it--or participate in a current library if anyone knows one.
offhand here are some trap links:

As far as housing goes, I know the igloos are sometimes big enough for larger animals to get in, so a smaller cat house is maybe safer or a house with a smaller entry. Its not always easy to get "just cats" to use the houses. Its important that the house be on the owners property as well.

Re: Cat Traps
Sat, April 14, 2007 - 7:52 PMI remember as a child my grandfather had a humane rabbit trap that we used to catch a rabbit in our backyard. We still have that trap and I may be able to find out what brand it is or at least I can hunt around and see what's out there since I remember what it looks like..
I'll check the links Mel has here and see if any of them are what I remember -

Re: Cat Traps
Thu, April 19, 2007 - 10:52 PMActually we did this through our local cat shelter, we just signed them out, had a small fee for maintenance and required a credit card or other deposit to be sure they came back.
It was working well until the new manager came along and pretty well trashed everything.
