At the "Last night of the Proms" last Saturday, I was introduced to the extraordinary playing of trombonist Christian Lindberg playing the finale from Motorcycle Odyssey.... A real virtuoso performance as a result of which I would like to buy one of his cds, but being eternally strapped for cash, am not sure which one to go for, so I was hoping for some recommendations?

Tue, September 12, 2006 - 3:17 PMThanks Rob. I'll have to see if local shop has it......... but will probably have to try online as all our music shops seem to be clearing out everything classical........ as indeed are the libraries. -

Oh, that's sad! Sounds like the UK is in very much the same situation as the US, when it comes to the distribution and sale of classical music.
I have friends who were in the Royal Albert Hall for the last night of the proms (friends down in the park as well). I'll have to ask them what they thought of Lindberg. -

Wed, September 13, 2006 - 12:22 AMHe was actually playing at the Glasgow venue, so they might not have seen his performance. I used to go to the Hyde Park one, but stoped when they let so many in it felt overcrowded..... a huge shame as the atmosphere is just fantastic! I would love to get in to the actual Albert Hall one, but tickets for that are as rare as hen's teeth!

Wed, April 2, 2008 - 6:16 PMOh thanks for that.I have had the cd for ages but seeing the visual made the sound more 'alive' and also seeing the percussion shown like that is just brilliant.
