I was wondering how you came across this - a connection to the cleveland poets?? I don't think so (?)

Did you find a similarity in his style ?

    curious cat.

He's from Cleveland. And he's a poet. And he's got a stylistic similarity.

he was probably INFLUENCED by them yes?

I think he is of a later generation...he was born n the 60's...the cleveland poets were already writing and creating by this time.

I was thinking it might be interesting to make more out of this and list other poets whose work has been influenced (or seems to be influenced by the CP's). Also, perhaps a thread about who some of the artists and writers that may have been influential to Levy, Taylor, et al.

It will take some detective work...and some guess work, it would be an interesting topic.

        What do you say?

actually, i was born march 9, 1946 and started writing poetry in 1964. didn't arrive in cleveland until late 1977, and didn't come across d.a. levy until sometime in the late 1980s.

in my old naive days, i looked up to wallace stevens and t.s eliot - now i'm down to bob dylan and leonard cohen.

there is for me a lot to comprehend in his work, although seemingly a sawn off shotgun approach that I would suppose runs with the title 'agent of chaos'

so, this being steven b. smith, i'm curious what you think of this fellow. i find him rather difficult to be.

see you like d.a. levy - in our final issue of ArtCrimes, we have 2 d.a. levy pages - plus tom kryss, steve ferguson, maybe a few others.

wife and i are traveling the world for a year or 2 until we're too broke or broken to continue... check out blog at www.walkingthinice.com - 5 weeks england, 1 week amsterdam, just started 6 weeks poland - croatia is next - then someplace warm for the winter.

      contact www.deepcleveland.com for ArtCrimes info.

thnx for the mention. wife kathy googled my name and your site came up. she's looking for poetry/art submissions for issue 17 of her online journal - www.thecitypoetry.com.

sitting here in the open stone market square in krakow using their free wireless... just wanted to thank you for coming across my stuff and passing the mention on to others.

we're in krakow and my wife kathy typed my name + cleveland into google on a lark and cleveland dreams came up. not a bad way to start the day.

just added this to my profile or bio or whatever ... adding it here. as well because it shows what i went thru to get here - and here is a good place for me to be good.

the item most folk stumble on is the armed robbery. actually did 2 - got caught on the second one. good short true story on it in reading room 19 - www.agentofchaos.com/poetry19.html ... figure this will either promote discussion, or end it. whatever.

This is rather interesting that Steven B. Smith found a discussion thread about Steven B. Smith and then added to it by describing Steven B. Smith. I wonder what Steven B. Smith thinks of all this?
