I'm actually in the midst of writing a new book that suggests seven beliefs/behaviors that will improve the quality of life for everyone. The last one is that regardless of whatever our personal convictions are about the relative truthfulness of spiritual texts (quran, bible, vedas, etc) or the historical reality of their characters (jesus, mohammed, buddha) that the only responsible way to live in society is as though all spiritual texts are 100% parable and that the people described in them are literary characters created for the sake of the parables

And they seem to all compliment, not invalidate each other...
How do we feel comforable in uncomfortable situations?
Practice the method and the belief will come, as we cannot change the outer environment, only our attitudes...thanks...

Everyone can find the way their own way. It's when judgement crosses the boundary of self criticism, there are problems.

I seem to think the best way to improve everyone's life is, through the mind and not feelings, to carve out the best routines and boundaries to avoid and one's to not be crossed.
This would become comfortable over time, as all compromises leave all involved a bit out of sorts, which is better than happiness at someone's expense.

And the Bible is history and positive symbolism.

I've grown to consider the Bible as a reflection of ourselves, highest and the lowest.Too much can be distorted and taken out of context, yet equally often if one looks deep enough there's another message hidden or in plain sight that we can't grasp yet.Just my take on it.

This was written in the 12th Century by Moses Maimonedes, whose book, "The Guide of the Perplexed " is a formulative influence on Jewish thought and on the thinking of leading Christian writers and philosophers down through the seventeenth century. It is not a philosophical treatise,. Rather, it's aim is to liberate men from the tormenting perplexities arising from their understanding of the Bible according only to it's literary meaning.
I liked his writing about the four elements, where he says, "The state of things with regard to the generation and corruption of the elements and with regard to the generation of everything that is generated of them and is corrupted so as again to be changed into them, comes back in a circle similiar to the circular movement of heaven; so that the movement of this matter endowed with forms is, in respect to the succession of the forms subsisting in it, like the movement of heaven in respect to the "where" every part of heaven returning repeatedly to the selfsame positions. He mentions a fifth ruling body, which governs the four, which he says is the heart.
