Retro Active is back this Thursday night (Dec 6th) for a one-off event.
We're trying out a new venue (and the venue is trying us out too). The event will be at the Uptown Nightclub in downtown Oakland. The Uptown is a nice, classy space with a gorgeous mahogany bar. The dancefloor is indoors. And there's a small outdoor smoking area in the back.
This Thursday's event will be free of charge. So come on down and check it out.

Sat, December 8, 2007 - 12:35 AMThanks to everyone who came out. I was happily surprised that we got as many people as we did, considering it was a rainy Thursday night, and under such short notice.
As a DJ, it's always interesting for me to notice which songs go over well -- especially when someone comes over to the DJ booth to find out the name of the song that's playing. The two songs in my set that enticed someone to come over and ask me "what's that?" are two of my current faves: "Forever" by Necessary Response (sounds like Depeche Mode, but more techno-influenced) and "Stiff Kittens" by Blaqk Audio (electro with a male vocalist who is reminiscent of Pete Murphy).
