I am now living on my own. My boyfriend of two years finished moving this things out today. I feel a bit sad, but we did have an agreement when we moved in together that we were going to have an open relationship, meaning we could see others, and even have trios together. Here it is: Sex is the topic. The question is, how important is sex in your life and your relationships? How do you rank it in the people you choose to be with? How do you rank it in your life?

Here's my take...

Sex has become much more important to me in the past few years, since I turned 50, actually. I think about it all the time. It's not the most important thing in my life, which would be ranked as follows.

1. Personal growth
2. My creative work
3. Relationships
4. Happiness
5. Sex
6. Home
7. Art
8. Money
9. Environment
10. Family

in relationships, these are the qualities I look for:

1. Communication abilities
2. Sense of humor
3. Physical attraction
4. Emotional health
5. Good sex
6. Poly-openness (this is fairly new for me)
7. Activities we both enjoy
8. Politics
9. Spiritual feelings
10. Openness to new experiences

This is a pretty fluid list, and represents how I'm feeling at the moment, but the guts of it are pretty solid. Rankings would move up and down, but my values follow along these lines.
