Me? I'm a bit partial to bourbon. So, my birthday is coming up, so if anyone wants to ge me a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle 23yr - I'm all over it.

Tue, February 20, 2007 - 2:46 PMthey stopped making the Malacca -- it was intensely herbal, and originally marketed as a high-end gin. then, when they decided to stop making it they cut the prices on it.
a few years back, some friends of mine found a stash at a liquor store in NYC, and arranged to buy as much of it as possible.
i still have one airplane bottle of it, for an as-yet-determined occasion. :)

This is true.
If you can find it, a good mixing dark rum is the Pampero Anniversario. Mix that with the juice from a fresh lime, a little bit from a grapefruit (a couple of tablespoons) and some simple syrup? That'll be your favorite rum drink. Serve it over ice in a nice highball glass.
Or, Barbencourt will do, too. -
