it involves creating a graphic banner for their official forum. the winner will be choosen by the other forum members and your artwork will be on display for a period of one month.

last year we had a great response and had loads of people helping us out, i hope we get the same generousity this year.

we'll probably need help with things like:

-setting up
-decorating the venue
-merchandise sale table
-ticket sales
-clean up

Tickets can be picked up at the door on the day of the event. After you purchase your ticket you will receive an email from PayPal, please keep this as proof of purchase. You will also receive an email from cocteaufest.com which will include your ticket number. Please bring that email or ticket number with you to the event on September 8th.

Cocteau Fest Report: Flock of Soul(s)

CocteauFest 2004 was held this year in a warehouse/bar in a somewhat seedy section of Midcity L.A. The warehouse was festooned (‘garlanded’) with pictures of the Cocteau Twins and their album covers. A LDC projector splashed images of their videos on the wall, so one got to see Liz’s Hannibal Lecter eyes and spastic dancing five-ten-fiftyfold. Attendees were given gift bags stuffed full of goodies, including an official t-shirt, and tons of free CDs from the presenting bands. There were lots of Goths in the crowd, as to be expected. (The dance floor was filled with people doing that swirly, interpretive ballet thing they do). But there were a smattering of other “types” as well. I was pleased to see that I wasn’t the only person of color there.

Three cover bands played versions of C-Twins songs. I missed Bethany Curve’s set, caught the middle of Red Lily’s set (they did a credible version of “ Pink Orange Red.”) and most of Lisa Dewey’s set, which featured a strong version of “Persephone.”

It was a great event. Kudos to the organizers.

We've just added a reserve ticket option to our online shop at cocteaufest.com!

What's the difference between a regular ticket and a reserve ticket?
If the event sells out at the door there won't be any way of you gaining addmittance to the event. To avoid this, you can reserve a ticket now for only $5. This will hold a space for you until the end of the night, you can show up at any time and you'll be assured entrance into the event. All you have to do is pay the balance of your ticket when you arrive! Reserve tickets are NON REFUNDABLE.

How many people do we expect?

Hello!

So- I decided that I'm going to Cocteaufest 2004... how many people attended the one last year? I don't know any of y'all (I'm sure- I've never met another CT fan before!) so this concept is a bit of an enigma to me.

Sounds fun!
