Article on using crystal deoderant on kids www.kidshygieneandhealth.com/art...tml.
The weird thing is that he says that he wouldn't, yet gives us a bunch of reasons why it should be fine. Based on what I know I think it's safe, and it's what I successfully use.
Antiperspirant of any kind would be a bad idea. Is she drinking enough water?

I think it depends on personal body physiology. The crystal rock does absolutely NOTHING for me - but I managed to make it reek of armpit within in a few days. But, the Tom's of Maine Calendula works perfectly. My husband, on the other hand, rarely needs to use deodorant - when he does uses a summer spice scent (white & tangerine colored package). I can't think of the brand at the moment, but they have 4 flavors, one for each season. The Burt's Bees deodorant spray is also good - can be a cold shock in the morning though.

    Hi joe,

I have tried a number of different types. Some are absolutely terrible - so healthy deodorants get a bad name.

I have recently tried using on called LIKEN PLANT made by Earth Science. So far it has been working great! (I got it at the health food store)

I also saw a thread on this at the Free Advice tribe, that might be helpful for other suggestions:

It is a huge gift to your daughter that you are introducing this to her. My parents just said "deodorant is bad" so on my own I started using unhealthy anti-perspirant products. Education is so important.

I remember back in the day when the answer would have just been to have her use baby powder or cornstarch.

Yeah, and for some people that may work. However talc contains aluminum, ( toxic) and cornstarch supports the BIG CORN industry!

      Times, they are a'changin.

So let me get this Farmers are now the big corn industry?

I have known people that have have grown corn etc... for years and they are some of the kindest absolute most caring people in the world. In fact most farmers are. There is something about getting your hands dirty in the soil that changes a person for the better.

I think it is absolutely awesome the way that the South East Farmers have banded together to control the milk production in the South East. I also think that it awesome the way that farmers have banded together on corn and soybeans. Farmers were some of the poorest people in the country 20 years ago. There was alot of people making money after them but very few making money at farming. Many of the farmers children had to sell their farms when they inherited them because it was a lot of hard work with very little reward other than peace of mind.

I had the honor of meeting one of the founders of Musselman when I stopped at a produce stand in Bigglersville just out side Gettysburg PA. The man was an incredible person. In fact after traveling the US and coming across both farmers, ranchers and cattlemen at various places I am impressed with all these people.

Espiecally all of the Russian cowboys in Wyoming.

Oh please, Deborah. No one here is trashing farmers or corn, or corn farmers. Please dont be inflammitory in this tribe. When I refer to BIG CORN, Im talking about non-organic, gross polluting, monoculture, destructive cross-polinating industries run by the likes of Monsanto, and how billions are made from selling Americans nutrient-poor food and drink that is PUMPED with corn products, which humans are not really made to eat. Maybe youve heard of High Fructose Corn Syrup?

Do some research on Monsanto, please. I will get you started. www.organicconsumers.org/monlink.cfm

What they do with their seeds hurts the little farmer you seek to defend. Farmers whose organic crops have been cross pollinated, and contaminated by a nearby Monsanto corn farm have been SUED AND LOST for illegally using Monsanto seed, as if they were thieves! And to make matters worse, then can no longer sell their own products as organic.

Im all for farmers. Im all for corn bread, corn meal, corn on the cob, whatever. But I want organic, sustainable corn or none at all. Does your box ofcornstarch say "organic" on it? If it doesnt, youre not supporting the little corn farmer either.
