I wanted to let folks know that Gail Shen, funky creative proprietess of Gail's China Town, passed over yesterday afternoon after a bout with cancer. I didn't know Gail well but I always always enjoyed running into her on the street and visiting her shop for those strange doodaddies that she had in plenty. She was an incredible artist and a wonderfully playful person.

She will be missed by me and my daughter.

    Wow.
I was just driving pas her shop yesterday and noticed some people pushing on the door, unable to get in.
She's been a fixture of Columbia, and my memory of it, for so long....................
    Wow.

Yeah, the place was packed. I picked up a handful of 'squirt carp' for a collage. You can't get that same Chinatown ambience or quirky selection anywhere else in Columbia.

      Bye, Gail, and thanks!
