Dear Friends

Thank you for your interest to our music.

Last summer we held a throat singing camp in Tuva.

We had 14 students from around the world - 8 of them were from the US, 2 from Australia
2 from Denmark, 1 from France, 1 from England.
After arriving in Tuva, the students spent 1 week in Kyzyl, the capital city.
They were able to see many tourist attractions, see a Tuvan shaman,
and attend the Naadym - National Harvest Celebration.

The students then went on to spend 1 week in the deep taiga, with members of the Tuvan throat singing group Chirgilchin,
learning various styles of throat singing, traditional Tuvan instruments, as well as the Tuvan language.

This summer, we are trying to get 2 groups to go to Tuva again, in either June or July.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Please check our photos made by Russell Roesner - our student.

Date: 16/08/2007

Artists and citizens are uniting across the globe to raise awareness of the critical needs of the people of Darfur, Sudan by using a free and renewable resource --their voices.

The first event will be taking place in Burlington, Vermont on September 1st starting with a parade and ending with speeches and live performances by some amazing artists.

Voices of Darfur is requesting that everyone meet in front of Uncommon Grounds, 42 Church St., at 9 am. Bring your Darfur signs. We will march down from Church St. to College Street Park.

Once at the park there will be a few short speeches by Lisa Martin and a spokesperson for Voices of Darfur about the situation in Darfur and what we need to know and do about it.

Afterwards a number of artists have tentatively agreed to lend their Voices for Darfur. At this time we are locking down the line up and will post it online ASAP.

We are confident that everyone will be impressed by the message of the urgency and the plight of our fellow humans sufferings and the Voices of Darfur.

Evan Marc (Bluetech) - New release from PsyBooty Records

Brooding, ambient, experimentation, improvisation, filled with emotion…
These are some of the words that describe the sound of Evan Marc.
A classically trained pianist and master of the art of software production,
Evan’s love of the melodic and exquisite sense of sound design makes
him one of the most ingenious producers today. Evan achieved international
recognition and success with his downtempo / chill-out project, Bluetech, releasing
three full-length albums and making waves in the chill-out world with his unique sound
and top-notch production quality. A need to expand his sound lead him to explore his
love for tech-house resulting in his latest album, “Emotional Ecology.” On “Emotional Ecology,”
Evan delves into the deeper side of tech-house and brings to it his signature production quality
"Emerging from his own distinct corner of the West Coast electronic music scene, Random Rab offers a powerful, timeless contribution to sonic exploration. Rab is a master of manipulating our temporal awareness, leading us into seemingly ancient worlds, where to our amazement, we find visible shreds of the future. Allow his sound to catalyze your travels into haunting ecstasy, and you will not return to your same beginning. Playing only his own originally produced music live, the depth and craftsmanship of this offering is remarkable. With an array of drum machines, samplers, sequencers, and instruments, it is a clear devotion to expression and perfection. The beats are smooth, bold, and overwhelming. The original vocals, melodies and hitting bass merge seamlessly into a tapestry of unique and unexpected journeys."

(flyer in photos section)
As the name implies... dope beats with a bouncy rhythm and an X-large dose of bass = peeps getting their rocks off... I remember the first time I saw Lorin.... at first I couldn't BELIEVE the SICK shit that skinny white boy was putting down- CAUSE THAT SHIT IS SERIOUS YO... just when you think it can't get any better- the mofo throws down something so PROPER- that you wind up contorting your face- cause it feels SO GOOD...welcome to BASSFACE...and to top it off- as an activist at heart, he's very aware about the messages he ends out in his music. Pretty soon. you'll find yourself hooked and telling all your friends they gotta hear the Whaaa Whaaa....

edIT www.myspace.com/edit
Everyone's got a friend that is just really SUPERFUCKINCOOL, has really good style and who always knows WHAT'S UP- You always want THEM at YOUR PARTY.... ediT's THAT guy. ediT "the CRUNKMASTER" himself, throws down proper with his glitched out mashups mixin' it up with playful mid-tempo glitch hop & well-timed techy breaks. Just being around edit makes you feel like YOU DEFINITELY KNOW WHAT'S UP... and you might even end up with a sweet feeling of contact COOL...trust me.. ya WANNA. ediT's dope.

These boys are at the forefront of what I consider a WEST COAST SOUND MOVEMENT- (sometimes, for lack of a better term referred to as WHAA WHAA- which include some of the most interesting and innovative expressions of today's experimental sound artists*.. *THAT YOU CAN DANCE LIKE A MOFO TOO.....

(and if you don't know WHAT that is... and you wanna see it first hand, I BEST be seeing you @ SPIN CYCLE every thursday starting THANKSGIVING- we'll be bringin you a FRESH SERVING OF WHAT'S HOT on the underground music movement- FOR REAL)

All i can say PDX....all you gotta DO is STAY TUNED & show the FUCK UP... cause mark my words.... because we've got a crazy MAD set of peeps that are DETERMINED TO BRING "IT" to PDX PROPER.

Hi, I will be driving to San Fran for Decompression 10/07 & back on Monday the 9th. If you would like a ride we can either split gas (if you have a driver's license & can drive a stick shift) or you can pick up the bulk of the gas expenditure if you can't drive. Gas will probably run 50 to 60 bucks each way (I drive a compact car so it isn't outrageous) & I DO have a CD player.

Luke 'n Justin Present:

--->BARAKOUT<---

Join us for an evening of pschedelic glitch, rolling basslines and worldbeat organics.

**COOL HAND (Marchfourth, PDX) -- Securing a niche as one of Portland's premier producers, he weaves a booty-shaking tapestry of lush originals in his live PA.

**ARC'TEXTURE (Sonic Architecture, PDX) -- Tonight he'll be dropping a juicy cross-section of tabla breakbeats, subterranean glitch-hop and Wu-Tang mashups. Shimmy shimmy ya.

Located in the heart of the Alberta arts district, Baraka is a plush and inviting space, and is ripe to host some serious gyrations...

Plus, it's FREE.

See you there!

Festivities begin around 9-10ish
COMMUNITY 5/2 @ PALA Lounge PDX

Greetings all!
Well now that the sun is finally showing itself, we can all come out of our winter self-evaluating shells and start turning our energies outward....

Starting in May, Music Millennium along with Cates&dpL Music are proud to present "Community" at Pala Lounge (www.palalounge.com) in PDX on tuesday nights!

This will be an absolutely free event focusing on the music and art that is influencing our lives and our world in more ways than any kind of verbal politics ever could. Providing a different style and theme to every week and showcasing the independant dance music that is evolving our society to a new plane.
There is no reason why this music should be kept on the low or be in any way unavailable to the people of our city. We will be playing as much newly released material as possible, as well as gearing our events toward what is being released each week. Playlists will be available from our resident and guest djs.

We will also be having local artists showing and selling their art each week with NO hands in their pocket... Which means 100% of the art sales go to the artist(s) who created the piece(s). We all have enough energy thiefs in our lives who are trying to leach our creativity from us (government, dayjob, unsupportive community) and that's NOT what we're about! If we can all support eachother, then we will all succeed!

We just got confirmation that Tuesday May 2nd will be the kickoff event!

9-10:15 Jon Cates-----playing new chillout downbeats and originals.

We at Music Millennium are in the process of organizing a FREE WEEKLY night of musical tastes and textures for everyone to enjoy... Representing all forms of independant soul, hiphop, and electronic dance music by featuring our local music families. Playing what is at the front of the scene as well as what is deeply embedded in their hearts from years past...

We will be having record release events for both local and international artists where we can hear their newest creations on a proper system in a proper, high energy environment....

YOU are encouraged to participate!

We will be setting up rotating weekly art displays, as well as live visuals and availability of new releases on the day they come out! We are also working with our venue to include local vending of art/fashion as well as music/art production tools/workshops to help spread creativity throughout our community.

This is a big project, so anyone who is able and willing to help we welcome you with open arms. If you are an artist or musician, we strongly encourage you to work with us to help solidify our dance music community in Portland, and help shed some much needed positive light and respect on our scene...

The venue is already chosen and I promise you its a GREAT one. We are still in the planning process though so we will not be announcing it until all the logistics have been worked out (probably mid april).

Much respect to all of our community, and I look forward to working with every one of you this spring/summer season!

Keep in touch and keep an eye on this tribe for more info as soon as it is available!
