FRAMINGHAM — A loud argument between two deaf women led to one of them being arrested Friday for assaulting a cop, police said.

Police arrested Theresa Maley, 39, of Holliston, at 10:15 p.m. following an argument at 201 Irving St., Deputy Police Chief Craig Davis said.

• Do speak to your supervisor directly, if possible. Sending an e-mail is a tip-off of possible fakery.

• Don't attempt to fake sounding ill by using the old tricks: speaking on the phone while lying in bed or bent over the toilet. Remember, if you were an actor, you'd have a SAG card.

• Do call in as early in the day as possible to give your supervisor time to plan the day without you.

• Don't give your supervisor all the gory details of your illness, pain and suffering. It smacks of exaggeration. Make the call short and to the point.

• Do make the call yourself.

• Don't have your spouse, child or — worse — mother make the call for you unless you are hospitalized and intubated. Be a grown-up.

• Do apologize for the inconvenience to your employer.

• Don't call from a baseball game, bar, airport or other questionable venue.

• Do call in sick when you're feeling miserable, need to see a doctor, are contagious or can't think straight.

• Don't go to work looking like a walking carcass.

• Do get a doctor's note if your illness requires medical treatment and a specified length of time off.

• Don't use "feminine problems" as an excuse — especially if you're not a woman.

• Do use sunscreen if you take a sick day to go to the beach.

Most of populace thinks it improper to spank children. The other day I was talking to one of my younger buddies about methods used to discipline children. We talked about 'time outs', grounding, holding back 'rewards' until the child displayed desired behavior, etc. One of the things we discussed was the act of spanking and my friend explained that no, he does not spank any of his children.

He explained that what he does is to take the misbehaving child out for a ride in the car and talk. He said that usually this works and that the child calms down fairly quickly and really doesn't take too much time.

By removing the child, in this case his son, from the immediate situation and providing a change of scenery, the child is allowed to focus on something different. Once the child has the opportunity to change perspective, things get better quickly and the child has a better understanding of his place within the family and begins to understand the families concept of acceptable behavior.

He kindly shared a picture of the process, which I share with you now.

A JAPANESE man puzzled by food mysteriously disappearing from his refrigerator got a shock when he discovered a woman had been living in his home for months without permission, police said today.

Used to stalk a friend round Sydney who drove a 4 WD on oil that was used in a fish and chip shop.
Mmm... the exhaust fumes.

Now Gerard and Rachel have embarked on an environmentally friendly honeymoon trek around Australia, using waste vegetable oil from fish and chip shops to fuel their travel in a specially converted four-wheel-drive, which they named the Battered Fish due to the pungent smell of its exhaust fumes. A woman has been arrested after customs officers found half a kilo of cocaine in her bra when she arrived on a flight from Hong Kong.

The 25-year-old had her bags searched after she arrived in Sydney yesterday morning. She was then frisked and packages of cocaine were allegedly found in her bra.

The woman is due in Sydney's Central Local Court today charged with importing a marketable quantity of a border-controlled drug. The maximum penalty for the offence is 25 years imprisonment and/or a $550,000 fine.
