Judging:

Here's an exercise that will help you plan your contest performance.
You should *ALWAYS* ask who is judging before you enter a contest.
If your director says I can't tell you, ask who judged previously or
what the selection process is.

Once you know, you will certianly have your own opinion.

But let's take an opportunity to discuss it here,
Please post your opinions here of why a

FORMER CONTEST WINNER

would make a good judge or a not so good judge.

I think the former contest winners *should* make good judges because they understand contests and scoring. They should know what goes into making a good performance because they've done it. I say "should" because you can't take these things for granted. You might select 10 former contest winners as judges and nine of them "get it" while one of them really bombs. Selecting judges is the hardest part of organizing a contest. No matter how much prep you do beforehand, you never know if someone will be good until it's over.
